I have now tried four different Thai restaurants in the Fayetteville Arkansas community and this by far has the best food so it is going to receive my highest rating of any of the Thai restaurant. My daughter is a student at the University and was super excited to bring me here to try the food.
For our dinner we ordered the fried spring rolls for an appetizer, then we had green curry, Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao for our main course dishes. We had three stars on all three and it was the perfect amount of heat, yet keeping it very easy to eat. We had some other students with us so they were serving a table of 6 and got all our food out hot to the table within about 2 minutes of each other which is pretty good for that large of a group.
I like the Pad Kee Mao the best of the three dishes. The sauce was exactly as I would have suspected for this dish and had great flavor. They were generous with the variety of vegetables and the portion of pork we had with this dish was also very generous. The Pad Thai was probably my second favorite, and then the green curry. The green curry was a little thinner than I am used to. While it was a very generous portion, it kind of ran off the rice instead of coating it. I would be interested in trying the green curry again on a future night to see if that is how they always serve it.
You can tell that the people running this restaurant are doing so on a minimum of staff. I would not be surprised to find out that it is family run. The waitress is all pure business and could benefit from taking a lesson on the art of small talk, but as I watched her through our meal, she was doing everything for the front of the restaurant. That can be a lot for one person as the number of tables continues to grow through the night.
I noticed a sign in the restaurant that stated that they will be moving locations on April 15th 2019 to a location on MLK. I am excited to see what they are able to do with a new space. I hope that it will allow them to bring the building and dining experience up to the same level of their food.
I am sure that I will be returning to Sala Thai on future visits to the University of Arkansas and...
Read moreLiterally the worst customer service experience I have ever had. When I arrived with my teen daughters in Mothers Day, we were all in a really good mood. We asked to be seated on the patio which had one dirty table on it. The restaurant itself was so cold that it was uncomfortable. The waitress hands me out menus and silverware and gestures to the door. "Ok that's odd, " I thought, but rolled with it. Fifteen minutes later someone finally comes to clean off the table. He gets the plates but still leaves the cups for another 5-10 minutes. My daughter goes to the car to eat a granola bar. We are still feeling good though, it's spring! We can be patient! I ask the waiter about the menu and he says he doesn't know the answer but the chef is too busy to come talk to me. I order something that I had before at another restaurant (asking questions that he can't answer). When the food gets to me, it is cold, congealed, and not a good flavor. I tell the waiter that I was unsatisfied and ordered another entree. When I go to pay, they tell me I need to pay for the disgusting blob of food that they called Thai peanut curry. I refuse. And argument ensues in front of the entire restaurant during which the owner/chef accuses me of just trying to get free foo, which is absurd since I had not tried to take it when we packed up our to go boxes, nor had I eaten more than one bite. I rarely ever send stuff back. The last time I did was almost ten years ago. I just eat whatever it is. This was inedible. It was Mother's Day. After that ridiculous wait I was freaking hungry. It took over an hour to get out food. I should never have to make a scene to get...
Read moreOur experience tonight was BEYOND disappointing. I am an avid supporter of this business and frequently recommend them to friends of mine. After ordering take out and being told on the phone that it would be 15-20 minutes until ready, we arrived and were told it was almost ready. I noticed 3 other Togo orders after me arrive and were told the same, that their food was almost ready. While waiting these others were taken care of and given their orders and after 20 minutes of no explanation and waiting in the lobby we were finally told that someone who ordered before us had taken OUR order and would be coming back to get their order. I then asked if we were expected to take the food that was brought back from the customer who paid for and took the wrong order, and was told “yes she hasn’t touched it I think”. I told her that was not acceptable only to receive attitude about having the kitchen cook again. We watched the lady she called back to the restaurant bring in a mangled/messy bag of the wrong food (our order). In these times of sickness and health being high priority it was disappointing that this was the expectation. We were then charged full price for our food after waiting an hour for fresh food to be made. Absolutely no compensation for our experience, and lack of consideration. I will be withholding ordering from them...
