We noticed this place open some time back and, on a whim, decided to order carry out (6/18). The wife went in and placed an order. She went down to the shipping spot on the other side of the center. She was the 6th person back to ship so took a while. Got back to the Omi spot and waited an additional 40 mins to actually get one order of Ramen, one order of Fried Rice, two Spring Roll, two Egg Roll.
The ramen presents like Pho if you have ever had that. The mix of ingredients are in a bowl that you pour your preferred stock over, let it steep for a while, eat. It was very bland aside from the salty aspect of the Miso stock. Super plain and the noodles all stuck together in one big clump. Quite disappointing. Oh, still enjoying the aftereffects of that lousy egg too. Use your imagination here.
The Fried Rice was summed up best by another poster here by saying "it smelled like my dog's food". I agree. Half of it didn't get eaten.
The Rolls were undercooked, squishy, and also bland. Rolls should be hot and crispy not partially warm and soggy. Hope we don't get sick.
Waited over 40 mins including order time. Paid nearly $50 for rice and noodles. Turned out to be terribly disappointing if not straight up lousy. Cannot take back a first impression. Absolutely will not be back again. Both of the other 'oriental' themed places in this shopping center and across the street blow this place away at every turn on taste, timeliness, and value. Don't waste your time or money...
Read moreI would have rated the ramen higher because the flavor was good and the topping were fine but the ramen noodles were clumpy, doughy and chewy. I almost want to say overcooked but the ramen noodle texture was completely off. The teriyaki was fine and my young son enjoyed the teriyaki kids meal. I started to call to inform the staff about my ramen noodles but I didn't want to seem pertinachous about my food. The staff gave me a nonchalant vibe, so I didn't feel comfortable to give them some friendly advice;however, I wish them success nonetheless and hope they can fine tune little details like ramen noodles texture. Overall, I'll give them a 6.5 out of 10. I would try them again to give them another chance because I like ramen but I hope the results will differ and I'll change my rating if that's the case. Also, I got my food to go and I don't think that makes much difference as I live less than 5 mins away from there. Lastly, I got 5 separate meals and spent $65 and 2 of our meals were ramen and 3 meals were teriyaki. The teriyaki was good but the ramen noodles were not. In all due respect, please do a little...
Read moreTucked unassumingly in a shopping mall between a Kroger and a rib joint, Omi Ramen and Grill might be easy to overlook, but its food is anything but average. I went in craving authentic Japanese ramen, and Omi delivered in spades.
The ramen was simply outstanding. The noodles were perfectly cooked, with just the right amount of chew. The shrimp in my bowl were tender and flavorful, and the broth was a revelation—steaming hot, garlicky, and deeply satisfying.
I also tried the potstickers, which were pan-fried to perfection. My only critique? They could have used a paired dipping sauce to elevate the experience further.
Clearly, I’m not the only one who thinks Omi is a hit. As I dined, a steady stream of customers filed in, a testament to the restaurant’s popularity. If the rest of the menu is as good as my meal, I can see why Omi is a local favorite. The dining room is small so to-go might be the ticket if the trend continues.
For anyone craving authentic Japanese ramen in an unexpected spot, Omi Ramen and Grill is absolutely...
