A little disappointed with our gender reveal cake.
TLDR: The place makes great stuff but there was a little mess up that I feel warrants not giving a 5/5. Just be sure you pay detailed attention to your receipt when placing a custom order
My (22m) wife (24f) and I just had a gender reveal for our first child. It was great! My wife does not like cake in general, but tried a Rick’s cake at a family birthday and really enjoyed it. After that we tried some petitfors and she decided she wanted to use them for our reveal. She knew from the start exactly how she wanted it to look. As far as decoration they knocked it out of the park! And the cakes was as moist as we could have ever asked for.
The problem: The order was almost perfect but two things went wrong. One was a joint issue between ourselves and the bakery and the other was just on their end.
The joint issue was the icing type. It was supposed to be cream cheese, but we got buttercream. My wife has been excited for weeks about being home the leftovers because she was ecstatic when they told us they could do a cream cheese icing for this. She only ate our wedding cake for the icing, but was excited to actually eat this whole cake so this was rather disappointing. We selected and we’re told that it would be cream cheese, but when we looked back a the receipt it said buttercream. I am calling this joint issue because it was entered wrong on their end but we failed to catch it when they showed us the order sheet and asked if it looked right.
The store issue was with the icing color, it was supposed to be a white icing bass, with an off-white icing for the decorative piping. I have uploaded a picture, and I’m not sure how easy you can tell, but I also have a cake in front of me and it is very clear that all of the icing is the exact same color (it’s especially easy to tell if you look at the inside where it’s been cut) It’s possible that the store just doesn’t do off-white/cream colored icing. If that’s the case, the person taking our order should’ve known that, and we definitely should’ve received a call when the cake was being made.
Again this didn’t ruin our day or anything, it was still amazing and we were so happy with it, but for $100+ cake and a ~$200 order… I just really wish it would’ve been perfect.
P.S. The petits fours we ordered were amazing. We got half pink (strawberry flavor), and half blue (Italian cream flavor). It was a small thing, so we had enough that everybody could have one of each with 2-3 left over. The strawberry were so good that word got around and we ended with none left, and hardly any Italian cream got eaten because people just wanted more...

So I had to change my review from 1 star because they definitely fixed the issue and were great about it. As a customer I appreciate that alot. Will definitely recommend them to other people.
The place it self is very nice and the people also. A friend took me in there since I'm new to the fayetteville area and I love baked goods. We got some donuts and a few other things. I also ordered a cake. Now this is why my rating is low. I asked the young lady could they make a gentilly cake she asked me did I mean Chantilly. For those who don't know there is a difference between the two a major difference. She went to talk to a manager and when she came back she told me they couldn't do what I wanted I said ok. Then I proceeded to order a cake. I ordered a white 2 layer cake with strawberries in-between each layer with strawberries and blueberries on the top. It was also supposed to have buttercream frosting. I was at work Monday when the cake was ready for pick-up so my friend went and picked it up for me. I worked from 8 that morning until midnight. So imagine my surprise the next afternoon when I cut the cake and there were no strawberries in-between the layers. I thought ok that's 1 thing. Then its whipped icing. That's 2 things. I told the young lady I didn't need a receipt but man I hate I didn't have it so I could've taken it back. Because the young lady read me back everything that I ordered about the cake when I ordered it. Idk what happened between her taking my order correctly and it being made wrong. I was very disappointed. My friend told me to go order another cake I told him no because I spent 75 dollars on this cake and I wouldn't dare do that again. I'm not saying the cake tastes bad or is decorated poorly or anything like that. The cake is good and the berries were fresh. I don't like whipped icing but even that was fairly good. It just isn't...
Read moreThis is another one of those weird little local treasures.
It exists in a niche somewhere between Coffee Shop, bakery, sandwich shop with good soup, wedding cake bakery, gift store, wedding planner, and a good place to host a baby shower, bridal shower, small wedding reception, Etc.
They do great holiday and seasonal specialty items, and excellent gluten free cupcakes. All their food is good, and made on-site.
Get there early for the good stuff, and plan on a line. They keep a huge staff during busy periods though, and the person that fills your baked goods order will also be your cashier and waitress which is a nice touch.
Please understand that this is not an insult to the place at all, when I say that the interior décor looks like a Pinterest-obsessed crafter went a little bit insane in there. It's a bit hit-or-miss. In the best possible way.
For example, they have gorgeous displays of creative custom cakes that change constantly. They have lovely arrangements of fun gift items.
They also mixed huge handfuls of glitter into the clear glass on the concrete floor, also into some of the stucco on the bathroom wall... also into some of the paint on some of the walls.
Basically whether or not you could justify using glitter, glitter has probably been used anyway.
There are random Star Wars murals painted on their kitchen area. Some unfortunate choices have been made regarding the color pink in their dining area.
My five star rating is not in spite of these concerns, but rather partly because of them. It's really something you have to see to believe.
Their 15 foot tall Christmas tree is the prettiest one in town every year. You can buy ornaments directly off of it. I cannot confirm that there actually is ever a tree underneath all the...
