This was my first vist here, and first impression was disappointment... instead of seeing their food under glass, served from a hot table, you must order from a posted menu. When asked about it, they're saying "since Covid", they don't serve cafeteria style, and until (or unless) they hire servers, they won't go back to that service method. Couple of things here: First, it's 2023, so stop blaming Covid for your service decision. Second, update your website since it gives the viewer the strongest impression of a conventional cafeteria service. Finally, most folks want to "see" what they are ordering BEFORE the transaction is complete. Make sense? Everything is served "to-go" which I find unfortunate, since I planned (and did avail myself of their dining room. Most of said dining room was too cold to even think about using and the smaller area near the counter was made near unwelcome because of 3 ceiling fans chilling the food. As for the food, our first order was the Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken with black-eyed peas, broccoli rice casserole and a corn muffin. The chicken was tasty, warm and done well. The portion was for 1/4 chicken, I choose to go with the dark meat and was not disappointed. The peas were not hot, but were laced with plenty of celery. Uh, no, just no. Onions, yes, some ham for flavor, definitely yes (but absent here), but celery. Nope. One other thing on the black-eyed peas... cook them a while, like hours, to get the liquid a bit thicker (more flavorful, get it?) than water. This dish seemed rushed, even a bit "institutional". The broccoli rice casserole was good and hot. Our second order was the Turkey wings, with collards, pinto beans and a corn muffin. The turkey was good but the portion was a single wing. The pinto beans had plenty of onions and red peppers, was not hot but the taste was okay. The collards were good. These meals, each served with a bottle of water was right at $30 w/o tip. Given the "protein" portion sizes, not really a good deal. Elevate the experience (including portion sizes, the food temp and dining area too) to match the price and this could...
Read moreSo, I tried this place back in 2015, and it wasn't good by far. However, I thought it was the selection of food I ordered. Meatloaf, mashed potatoes , etc.
Long story short, I went in tonight to get myself and my husband dinner. Well, it hasn't changed...still non flavored, undercooked, over seasoned on the wrong dishes..ex. The coconut cake was so dang on salty. I gave it back to the owners daughter for reimbursement.I literally took a fork fullWhich she had a slight attitude about. Why sale that salty cake to someone else? I figured the strawberry short cake would be a better option. Was I mistaken..smh! She must make her cakes from scratch because the two I had taste like she put way too much salt in it. Why not just simply use 1 stick of land of lakes REAL butter?🤦🏾♀️ imitation/artificial margarine has a very strong salty taste with baked goods.
The leg quarter chicken was under cooked to the point it was still rubbery with slim on the inside. The fat we pull off during cleaning? Well, it was still on it. Yuck🤢🤮 I'm so glad I believe in praying over everything I consume. Bless your food, if you eat there, folks, PLEASE
Let's just say I will not be eating there again!!!!
Two times gone wrong is enough for me. This isn't baseball.
Oh! The cabbage was so undercooked that it had that raw smooshy taste. You know when it's steamed but not cooked enough, so it tastes more like Brussel sprouts instead of cabbage. Oh! They forgot my side of blackeye peas.
Listen, folks, if you want good soul-food go to Auntie Laura's Kitchen on Hwy 85 in Riverdale Ga.
Or
The Peach Cobbler Cafe in Atlanta Ga on Peachtree St.
Same price...
Read moreI don’t usually write reviews, but Rosa’s Home Cooking in Fayetteville earned this one. The BBQ baked chicken came out undercooked — pink in the middle, and not in that trendy “medium rare steak” kind of way. We’re talking unsafe, raw chicken pink. When I brought it up, I was told “that’s the way it’s supposed to be.” Excuse me? No, it’s not. Unless the new trend is salmonella on a plate, that’s simply unacceptable.
I asked for another piece of chicken, thinking maybe it was just a fluke, but they flat-out refused. That’s when I knew this place doesn’t care about quality or customers. The sides were forgettable at best, but honestly, I couldn’t get past the fact that the main item on my plate wasn’t even cooked properly.
On top of all that, the entrance had a foul smell that should’ve been my first warning sign. If a restaurant can’t keep the front of the house clean and welcoming, I can only imagine what the back looks like. Honestly, a food inspector needs to pay this place a visit.
Food is supposed to be comforting, not a gamble with food poisoning. Save your appetite (and your stomach) and eat literally anywhere else in...
