Shoney's — Restaurant in Fayetteville

First time at this particular location. The meal I ordered was pretty decent. The breakfast potatoes (home fries) were not so much that, as just tiny French fries, and beyond salty almost to the point of being inedible. There were not even onions or anything thays usually in home fries. Literally just cut up potatoes and salt. I had ordered a patty melt, and it was pretty good. No complaints there. The service, however, was atrocious! I'm not even going to type out all the reasons it was so terrible, but ill name a couple. First off in my party of two, my mother ordered decaf and I regular.. She brought us both the same not sure which one we got, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Next, the waitress was acting like I may not be able to substitute French fries for the breakfast potatoes, (which as stated above ended up being basically the same), and went to ask the kitchen. She never even came back to let us finish our order, I wanted to also order a side of bacon and biscuits and gravy, but she didn't come back till she brought us our meal. At that point I didn't have time to wait for anything else to be made. She not once checked on us to see how we were doing or if we needed anything else. Then we waited like 20 minutes after we were done to get our check... Still never came so we got up and had to walk up front, the manager went to check us out and couldn't even find our waitress at first.. My only other (half) gripe, is the buffet. Typically I would have ordered the buffet, however there was far less to choose from compared to what I remember my local shoneys offering, which used to be located in huntsville, Alabama. me my brother and mama went here and i can highly say i am very disappointed we should have just went somewhere else we traveled 35 minutes just to get this nasty food. the fried chicken was not seasoned at all. the mashed potatoes were very nasty. we definitely will not be returning. we had other options but we decided to give shoneys a try. also there was mildew everywhere and it was actually gross. also by the way the whole time we were there we got checked on maybe 2 times the whole time but the people behind us which were white got checked on talked to and everything. there might be a little racism in that since me and my brother are mixed race. the mac and cheese was okay i guess it was really overdone like the noodles were overboiled. the polish sausage was very rubbery. i got the peach cobbler and it didn’t taste very good it’s like it didn’t even taste like anything. me and my family are never going back. this was a horrible experience honestly. we should have left whenever we first saw the mildew i should have took pictures but i didn’t really think about it and their drinks were all flat. OVERALL DONT GO HERE ITS NASTY THEY DONT KEEP PUTTING THE FOOD BACK OUT FOR YOU TO GET YOU HAVE TO ASK THEM...

I was never a big fan of chain restaurants until I ate here several times, and now I am hooked! They serve simple American food, nothing fancy, but everything I have ever eaten there has been delicious. They are pretty short staffed right now, but the servers that are there give1,000% of their efforts to make sure that you leave there very happy and you want to come back. I was a server for 15 years and I have to commend the amazing people that work there for making every customer feel special and important. Since I first went in mid February I have been back at least twice a week and I would honestly go daily if I could. They have an amazing, AMAZING buffet several times a week and that is what I always get when I go. Their fried chicken blows my mind at how crispy, juicy and addictive it is. The seafood buffet on Friday has the sweetest, tastiest peel and eat shrimp I ever had in my life, that's really saying something because I grew up in south Miami and my Father would catch shrimp and we would eat it within a few hours of coming out of the ocean.
