This was a great place in Fenton, MI. We had actually planned on a different restaurant that was one of the last places my brother went with my nephew and his family but when we arrived there, we found it closed because it was Monday, so after a bit of a scramble we decided to go back to Fenton, which is closer to my nephews home anyway. The Fenton House was founded in 1987 and has been serving food in the Fenton community since then. There is a full in-house bar service and a rather unusual carry out area for beer & wines. There is a fun game room with some unique features like a full-size Hungry, Hun, Hhippo game that you can actually sit on to play…… they offer a children’s birthday party service that comes with pizza and cake, and a certain amount of tokens for the birthday children. My nephew had a beautiful Caesar salad, which he gobbled up despite the size and then ate a fair amount of his spaghetti and meat sauce, AND meatballs too!! He also had a shot of the whiskey that his father favored . I started with some French onion soup, which was mediocre. However, the breadsticks they brought, or absolutely fabulous and an entire basket full. They were warm and delicious and actually when I shared with my niece where we had gone the first thing she asked me was, “did we have the breadsticks”???-so instead of being famous for the onion soup in our book, they are famous for their breadsticks. My sandwich was absolutely enormous and it was delicious. It was home cooked corn beef with plenty of a red cabbage slaw on delicious grilled bread. I’ve never seen such a large piece of bread, I don’t know where they are curate but I do know you don’t leave hungry and you possibly leave with an entire meals worth of food, which is what both my nephew and I took home We definitely are excited to return and try more...
Read more! !AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS! ! Until something drastically changes I will not be back anytime soon. The first time we attempted to order we received a phone call immediately following our online order placement. They notified us that they were out of some of the items. Understanding with the pandemic happening we agreed to substitutions. Upon arrival to the resturant they were still "making" our food. We waited a significant amount of time longer and when we finally got our food we took it home. We should have checked the bags at the restaurant however, when we got home to look at the food not a SINGLE item was correct. We received 3 pieces of salmon in separate boxes with 2 pieces of broccoli in each. I have given this place multiple chances to make it right. This most recent attempt, I called ahead and explained what happened the last time we tried to order. I was reassured it would go much smoother this time. The had a list of items they were currently out of.( Apparently they run of food daily...) she said the wait time is 25mins give or take because they have a new cook. When I showed up after 35mins I told them my order and I was asked if it may be in the system under a different name? Nope it should be there. He had to search for the girl that took my order and she said, "its coming out now I'm putting it together". So I continue to wait...arguments broke out in the kitchen over missing food, 2 people walked out, and there was no order or organization of who was "next" in line. Covid protocols definitely not being followed. After wait over an hour, I decided to walk out. Luckily I didn't get convinced to prepay, unlike the lady in front of me....she was left waiting longer than I and she had already given them money...I wish this place the best, they have potential, but they need a...
Read moreOrdered takeout. We were missing the garlic cream cheese for the bread. The bread was so greasy that it was soggy. My whole order of baked mosticolli was at least 4-5 times the size of my fiancé’s full order of baked lasagna. Mind you, we were asked 1/2 or full for each meal when we ordered over the phone. Our “side” salads were huge. At least twice the size of the meal/lasagna.
We tried to talk to the manager on the phone, but the girl that answered the phone (Sophia) would not let us talk to them. She was argumentative, rude, and frankly has no business being in a customer service role. He REPEATEDLY asked for the manager and she would continue to argue that they wouldn’t talk to us because she would need to understand what the issue was to relay it to them. When he REPEATEDLY told her the issue, she told him that they don’t offer 1/2 and full orders (but they did), that the lasagna is a standardized size that should feed 1-2 people “depending on how much food they eat” (we’ve ordered it before), and that she wasn’t blocking us from the manager (she most definitely was). We own a few businesses and we honestly called to make management aware of what we received as we would want to know if it happened to our customers. We didn’t want anything free and we certainly weren’t looking to argue with anyone. Extremely disappointing. Half tempted to go there tomorrow so the manager is aware that their staff acts in this manner, because you cant message on here and Sophia won’t let you talk to them on the phone. Hopefully...
