Atmosphere here is upscale, not small dog in a purse upscale, but adequate enough to avoid the dollar general crowd yelling at their kids unreasonably loud. It certainly feels date night, as if the evening is building, low light, good decor, tasty food, all five senses are being engaged in this experience. The price and atmosphere is set well enough to attract the calm 9-5er who golfs on the weekend and spends a cloudy day pulling weeds around the pavers leading to their front porch.
There is a certain calming effect Ciao besets on me once I'm seated in my booth, (not as much when crammed into the middle tables) I feel assured great service and food are fast approaching. The color schemes whisper gently to me and for a brief moment I had to remind myself that I am not at a wedding reception.
At this point in my life I would consider myself a ribeye connoisseur, I've had a bountiful share in my lifetime. I've had some bland beef, some spectacular curl my toes beef (see my review on Gus Gus) and everything between. Ciao is in my top 5 for Ribeye, it is tender, juicy and presented beautifully. There is a delightful marinade they use and it was cooked to perfection.
I've also had the scallops here and the last round I was not overly impressed, the scallops were chewy and the risotto was also a bit on the chewy side. I was looking for the melt in your mouth, I need 25 more of those experience and I didn't get that. Oh well, back to the wedding reception and ribeye.
Our server was amazing, she stated up front this was her first day on the job but that didn't mean she lacked confidence, skill or attention to detail. I have had great service every time I visit Ciao, in a world where customer service is dying, Ciao is playing by their own rules, the kind companies used to build a brand about, boast about and commit themselves to. Great job Ciao with your people choices and training.
Overall I would state here in the google records that I appreciate places like Ciao that elevate the date night experience. Ciao won't steal the show of the day, but compliments a romantic evening...
Read moreI have visited many times, and I waited to post a review due to quality purposes.
To start, I want to mention how kind the staff is. Every time I walk in I’m greeted with a smile, it’s always the same manager and girl at the door, and they recognize us every time we walk in. I’ve had a few different servers, and each one is just as wonderful as the other before. Top notch service.
My first visit, I had a filet mignion. It was so tender I only needed my fork and butter knife to cut it. The mashed potatoes were perfectly buttered and had a wonderful flavor to them. And that zip sauce... talk about incredible! It was simple and complimented both the steak and veggies perfectly.
My second visit, I had the lobster ravioli. There were about 6 on my plate (could’ve been more, this was awhile ago) and were quite big, to the point of needing to be cut in half. The tomato cream sauce was delicious, and I found myself dipping their amazing rolls in it later on just to savor it. I highly recommend this.
Other favorites of mine are the penne palomino, it’s a tomato cream pasta with veggies. Add the sausage, it’s flavorful and adds a perfect bite to the otherwise simple and primarily veggie dish. The butternut ravioli was fantastic as well, large ravioli stuffed with butternut squash and red pepper. The sauce was simple but was a nice touch of sweetness without being too sweet. They paired nicely.
My only complaint is, this is a restaurant that takes their time. It’s not a quick in and out. I went once with one other person and was there for a little over an hour, and then I went with a group and we were there for about two. To some this may be an issue, but I am fine with it.
Over all, it’s a lovely edition to the city. It’s close, friendly atmosphere will continue to be my favorite place, and I am hoping to stop in for...
Read moreThough it opened in 2018, my husband, 2 friends and myself dined there for the first time last night. I made 5:00 pm reservations, we were seated immediately, and in my favorite seating style of a big roomy booth. I particularly loved the height of the privacy barriers on each booth. It made for a cozy intimate feel during dinner. Our server (can’t remember his name :( , was super friendly, gave great suggestions and had a very nice personality. He was Very good and quick. . I ordered the much recommended by our server Lobster ravioli. I thought it was delicious, no fishy taste whatsoever. It had a creamy marinara with sherry sauce. The perfect combination. My portion was generous, I had to take some home. My husband ordered the Lamb Shank. Now that was a spectacular presentation. I’ve added a picture. You can see the portion was VERY generous, however my husband ate every bite and claimed it the best he’s ever had. Very big coming from him. My friend and her grand daughter ordered Chicken Marinara and Seafood Diablo respectively. The Diablo had a nice array of seafood, and had a little kick with the addition of jalapeños. Dawn loved her chicken pasta. We all had salads, the rolls were delicious. But of course the creme brûlée was calling our name, and we had a birthday girl so she had yummy chocolate cake with a candle, beautiful presented with a liquid chocolate design on the plate. The brûlée was delicious. I adore this little gem of a place and we will most...
