Al’s Diner is a hidden gem in Ferndale (speaking as a Canadian)! The menu is very affordable — easily rivals Denny’s (even the value menu) but the quality is far better. Their grilled cheese, made with Tillamook cheese, is perfectly gooey and melts in your mouth. The in-house coleslaw tastes fresh and minimally processed, though it could use a bit more sauce. The service is basic — they didn’t really check in much — but everyone was polite, and this place focuses on good, honest diner food over fancy extras. The environment is simple with little signage when you walk in, but the food and prices make it totally worth it. Menus are at the tables, and prices differ from what’s online on the chalkboard (see attached photos for the updated pricing menu). Excellent comfort food, great value, and a classic small-town feel.

We got there at 1 PM on 9/14/19, the place was packed. It's a fairly small place, seating for approximately 30 people. Service was good, even with that many folks there. We only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. I ordered the chicken fried steak, eggs over easy, and extra crispy hash browns. The food was perfect, fresh, and very tasty. My friend had a burger and fries, and was very satisfied with his food. The prices were very reasonable. Overall, I was happy with the experience. The only reason I gave a 4 star review was that with that many people, it was insanely loud in there with everyone talking. They need to put some sound muffling decorations on the walls. That will keep down the echoes. I hope this helps folks. Come check it out. Cheers, Rob

Hopping on a Friday morning. Biscuits and gravy is decent since the gravy isn't ultra thick goop. Not really impressed with the veggie omelette or that it's more expensive on the menu for anything no meat- even without a meat replacement. The omelette was wet and drippy with too many large pieces of tomato. A note as well, the server took our order and then came back and took it again. Final product was incorrect side of hashbrowns in place of expected home fries with the omelette. A server pad would have made a difference on a busy breakfast shift.

The food was good, it was breakfast,,,, I asked for a custom order and you delivered (btw don't put HOT hash brownish a foam container). I rode my bike into town, there was an elderly gentleman sitting there,,, and I would have enjoyed sitting there and chatting with you all but,,,, we are in a pandemic! Not distancing and not wearing a face mask is disrespectful of life! It could possibly be 3 weeks that you carry and spread this around before you know if you are I'll. So, my order was toasty hash browns on the bottom. Biscuits and extra gravy next. Then two scrambled eggs on top. It was Great!

I will never come back because you told me,,, ineffect,,, this is no big deal... Lives are a BIG DEAL to me. I respect all life. I respect Our liberties. I will not do things that impose on anyone. I do want that in return.

Fast food chains are doing it. Anyone being considerate to all of us,,, that is where my money goes.

I hope for Our sake, you take...

This place would be dangerous to our budget if we lived here!!! Great food! I had the chicken fried steak and home fries (yummy fried chunks of potatoes) and hubby had the eggs Benny. We ordered a “small” blueberry pancake to split, a giant which was served with real butter, huge fresh blueberries, and not made from a “just add water” mix. Delish!!!. Our coffee cups were never more than half empty! The food was excellent- the chicken fried steak was actually a ‘steak’, not burger- lightly battered and fried, the eggs were PERFECTLY poached. We were treated with consummate professionalism, and witnessed even a little extra care for an obviously regular elderly couple, and a group sitting under the chalkboard menu given a paper menu so they didn’t have to crane their necks. We appreciated the little special touches that aren’t often found these days, paired with...
