When entering the restaurant the sign said seat yourself so we walked around and all the tables were dirty so we couldn’t sit down the restaurant was not busy the waitress was standing at the counter not doing anything. After about 10 minutes she cleaned a table and sat us down we ordered and over an hr after we ordered and multiple other people had come in after us and received their food and finished eating I decided to ask how much longer of a wait and she asked the kitchen how much longer they told her they didn’t receive the order. She never sent our order in. I understand accidents happen but if she would have been checking on our order after her other 3 tables orders had been fulfilled she may have caught the error sooner and we could have eaten at the restaurant. But because she never checked we waited at the restaurant for over an hour with 5 hungry children. It feels as though some valuable time I get to spend with my family due to my working out of town has been wasted. We will not be returning to cedars and it honestly hurts my heart because we have been coming to cedars for the last 15 years. Our last few visits we have noticed multiple careless wait staff that don’t reflect what cedars has always been to...
Read moreMy wife and I along with members of the Golden Campers camping club went to the Cedar's Restaurant for dinner. One couple had fish and chips, another couple split meat loaf between themselves, another couple had hamburger steak and a chicken sandwich, and my wife had a shrimp salad and I had a camper's saute'. The portions were very large and everyone was filled from their various meals. The prices were very reasonable, for example, my wife's salad was $16.99 and my camper's saute'was $17.99. The couple that had the fish and chips paid $16.99 each, the couple that split the meat loaf meal was around $17.99 and the person that had the chicken sandwich paid $14.99 and the person that had the hamburger steak paid $19.99. The service was very exceptional. The wait staff came and checked on us to see if anyone needed anything. We arrive at 5:30pm and shortly afterwards the restaurant, filled up with the locals from Ferndale to enjoy their evening meals. I would definitely recommend the Cedar's Restaurant in...
Read moreWe were passing through the area and ready for lunch. Having lived in B'ham years before we knew about this longtime restaurant/diner and remembered it having good food (espeically for breakfast.) We had heard that it had recently been remodeled and reopened after an extended closure and wanted to try it for lunch. The remodel seems to mainly consist of the vinyl booths now being teal green instead of the red I recall back in the day but the place looked clean and familiar which was a good thing. We had the fish tacos and a cobb salad and everything was excellent. The fish tacos in particular were pretty amazing and not what ytou would expect from a cafe/diner style place. Crispy battered fish pieces in thicker, soft flour tortillas with an excellent sauce and some lettuce and tomato was really delicious and filling. The patrons all looked like loacals as it is ieasy to drive by this unassuming place in the historic district and not go in. Believe us...it is worth chaecking out and...
