We went in interested in trying out this new coffee shop and diner, but left more than a little disappointed. Maybe it's just working out the kinks, but I will be waiting a while before risking it again.
The seating area is open and comfortable, with tables, comfy chairs and bar stools along the windows. It was busy, but did not feel crowded. The table and chairs were comfortable. The music was whinging light pop so not to my taste. Oddly, the hanging lights got in the way of reading the digital menu on the wall.
An Americano costs ~$5, which is a little silly given the price of an espresso...hot water costs $2+? So settled for drip coffee, but forgot to ask for room for cream--though the cashier didn't ask me, either--so I had to dump some coffee in the only trash bin. And then I had to ask for cream, since it was not set out. The cashier took it out from underneath their counter, and I felt like I was having my dairy addition monitored. It's just weird. But the coffee was pretty good for drip.
I ordered two sandwiches: a grilled cheese, and an OG Breakfast Sandwich without the bacon. Note that all the named sandwiches have bacon in them, which is not terribly inviting to vegetarians.
The grilled cheese was made incredibly badly. There were at least five slices of cheese in the center (though they may have been folded in half) which is just too much. So the cheese was not melted, and the center one was fridge temperature.
The OG Breakfast Sandwich would have worked better with the bacon that I skipped, so I think the designer may have had a good palate. The sandwich has a honey mustard spread which is fairly bitter without the bacon. This particular selection seems to not work vegetarian, though I do wonder how vegetarian bacon would stack up.
As it was, the OG BS that I ate had the top bread toasted so hard it scratched my mouth, and the bottom bread was soggy. It seems to have been taken hot from a griddle straight to plate while waiting for the other sandwich to cook. The fried egg on it was rubbery and tough, cooked too hot and too long. Not a pleasant experience, and no subtlety.
As a bonus, when we left we smelled like fried food because the kitchen does not have a door.
I suspect most of these issues will be solved sometime in the future, but I'm not eager to throw another $20 at this kind of nonsense. I might try again, but I'm not sure if there's enough of a future...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām not from the area and I was really craving a delicious coffee. Identity Coffee Co. came up on google and looked pretty promising, with pictures of latte art and nice looking pastries too. I decided to give it a try. Once inside I wasnāt greeted by anyone. No problem. I also am a barista so maybe I just have high standards. I went up to the counter and asked the lady taking my order if she recommended me to have my latte iced or hot. She seemed irritated that I was even asking her a question and said āI have no idea, itās my third day.ā Okayā¦. I immediately was disappointed, and my expectations were lowered. I just chose iced, knowing that was the safer option and more foolproof than a drink with steamed milk. She said pretty much nothing else besides the total during the rest of the interaction and I slowly regretted my decision in choosing this place for coffee. Itās amazing how low the vibes can become in a place with uninterested workers. Once I got my drink, the experience was not redeemed at all. The coffee was mid, and I left feeling like I had wasted my $8. No hate to the girl who took my order, I get that thereās a lot to learn in the coffee world, but if the service was better this place could easily have been a decent spot. The inside is cute but without welcoming and knowledgeable team members, it is absolutely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDecided to try it out yesterday, food was lovely and service was very helpful in answering questions about the bakery items that were on display but not on the menu.
I recommend it for a breakfast or lunch that youāre not in a rush for, because the place has a very calm atmosphere and as soon as I walked in I felt more chill. Food took the amount of time it should have and was delicious!!! I ordered a muffin, it tasted like vanilla with some buttercream. I also got the Blooming Berry Smoothie and an OG Breakfast Sandwich, both of which I could tell were made with love, care and time. I ordered all 3 things assuming theyād be smaller but theyāre good portions for the price they are. In the future Iāll probably just get the sandwich and drink to save money and not have leftovers lol.
The atmosphere was a mix of polished natural hardwood with minimalist industrial, with a friendly vibe. They also had a little shelf with books and stuff so if any kids are bored they could borrow one. Iām not a parent, but that stood out to me and I feel like more places doing that would have been something I would have appreciated when I was a child.
I donāt post reviews often so this place made quite an...
