TLDR; bad food and worse service. AVOID.
This is not a restaurant worth visiting for so many reasons. I took my teenage son here yesterday or the day before, he ordered hibachi chicken and I ordered a poké bowl and a sushi roll.
Chicken was bland. Fried rice had zero flavor and wasn't really fried at all. Fish did not taste fresh, tasted like multiple refreezings. Vegetables were unusually oily and flavorless.
While we were there I also was blessed with the opportunity to observe someone who had been charged twice by them bring in a bank statement proving it and requested a refund. In fact it took the employees ten minutes to consider opening a second register to take my order. I waited silently it of curiosity for how customer oriented that are.
They yelled at each other the entire time we were eating. What's notable is they were refusing him even though this was a charge from earlier and he had his bank on the phone and statement in hand as well as his receipt. No amount of proof was convincing them to do the right thing, even when the owner was on the phone with him. From the conversation parts I could hear the owner said something along the lines "in my country you don't get a refund" because the man's respond was "well we're not in your country and I want my money back". That's some of the worst customer service I've ever seen.
This business has no business doing business. I strongly recommend no one eat here and drive it out of business. The owner truly must not care about the clients, only profitability. This owner...
Read moreRarely do I take the time to write a review, but after my third time here, and reading similar reviews, I felt obligated. The food has never been better than 'ok'. It's expensive for what it is, and tonight it was just plain bad, threw most of it away. The service is HORRENDOUS.
Had a $26 take out order, 1 'entre', and several sushi rolls and sides. Was told that if I wanted more than (2) of the tiny cups of sauce that come with the 1 'entree', I would have to pay extra- regardless of the fact I spent $26 (I only wanted 3 total). The woman that was apparently in charge did not care when I told her she just lost a customer over 25 cents- I assume she even understood why I was upset, she barely spoke English, and she wasn't asian- none of the staff were. She made no effort to resolve the situation, choosing rather to argue with my wife in broken sentences.
Had I known when we ordered, I would have just paid for it. Checked the receipt when I got home, was charged .50 cents for some unidentified misc reason. Have no idea what it was for.
I knew Joy 20+ years ago when she started Joy Food, and I have to say, this is really a disappointment, I would...
Read moreMy husband and l placed an order here for Hibachi Steak and Shrimp. My husband unknowingly inadvertently sent the order through twice literally within seconds of each other. In the process of placing the order he provided his phone number. We arrived at the restaurant to pick up the only order we were aware of. The next day I noticed that we had been charged twice for the exact same amount. My husband called about it and the person at Joy of Tokyo refused to refund our money for the second order saying that the food was prepared and had to be wasted because it wasn’t picked up. We were unaware of the second order when we picked our food up. If it was there and prepared like they say it was then why didn’t they give it to us when we picked up the order we did know about? Why not call us about the second order and have us pick it up they had our phone number. Shady shady business practices! We will no longer be dining here as there are far better options out there anyway and I refuse to do business with a company that steals their customers money. I recommend going to...
