I had been reading about Bistro 55 on Facebook, and it looked like a restaurant worth trying even though it was a hour drive from where I live. My husband and I made reservations and went with friends. WOW! The four of us had an incredible dining experience. We were greeted by the owner, Moe, who was gracous and most welcoming. As we were looking over the menu, we were served a large basket of delicious bread and hummus. We were not rushed while we were looking over the extensive menu. Everything looked delicious. We often over order appetizers and salad and are not hungry when the entree arrives. We dedcided to order salads and skip the appetizers. Our friends had the Greek salad and my husband and I shared the beet salad. Both portions were more than we coud eat and both salads were delicous. If you like beets, order the beet salad! It was that good! Shortly after the salads were presented, Moe brought a platter of babaganoush and batates mahrousa with fresh pita to the table as an aplogy for not having falafel the night we were there. For the main course we had the gyro platter, chicken souvlaka and blackened salmon. The quanitiy was matched by the quality of everyone's meal. Everything was done to perfection, and most of us had brought leftovers home. The dessert menu looked wonderful, but we were too full to indulge. Bistro 55 is now my go-to restaurant for Mediterranean fare I look forward to many more trips to this restuarant to try other dishes on the menu. There is a Sunday buffet (Brunch and dinner) that looks amazing. Moe has the winning combination of great food, impecable servide and value. Thnak you for an outstanding...
Read moreMy family (husband and four daughters) have been to Bistro 55 several times, and each experience has been phenomenal! The owners, Moe and Yara, are truly lovely people. They are incredibly accommodating and go above and beyond to cater to their customers' needs, making every visit feel so special and personalized. We have had a couple of dinner parties here as a result of how wonderful Moe and Yara are to work with, and can't emphasize enough how great they are. Note that they are the owners of the Little Egypt Oasis shop down the street, so they have been kind enough to provide us treats (which my girls love) from their sister store when we've dined at Bistro 55.
The food is absolutely delicious, with a wide variety of options, that cater to all tastes (and my daughters can be picky!) Whether you're a fan of classic Mediterranean dishes or looking to try something new, there's something for everyone. The flavors are authentic and rich. The ingredients are fresh, making each bite a delight. The portions are very generous, and the prices are completely reasonable. Plus, the restaurant is BYOB, which is also helpful for the budget.
Bistro 55 is the whole package -- fantastic service, scrumptious food, great atmosphere. Our entire family loves going to this amazing gem of a restaurant. So happy to have such a top-notch restaurant here in Flemington. Highly highly recommend -- you will not go wrong at this excellent...
Read moreFood was very good! I ate the three app platter with the beets, eggplant, and the fouul and a side order of the falafel (this was just okay, would prefer this baked and not fried as it takes away from the taste of the fresh herbs). I love that there are so many vegan options (and I really hope that the new menu coming will too! it's nice to have somewhere in the area to eat and would be a shame to go from having so many options to not). I love that everything is made fresh. However, the food did take a bit long to come out even considering that fact. So if that's a big dislike for you usually, I wouldn't suggest this restaurant unless you order some appetizers to keep you munching. The owner did bring us bread twice to hold us over, which was really nice of him! And the bread was absolutely delicious.
I would really like to see clear labeling on the menu of what is vegan vs vegetarian, vegan option available, gf, etc for the appetizers especially. I wasn't totally certain what was and what wasn't vegan, which is unsettling when you want to make sure you're sticking to your own eating habits. I'm unsure that the bread that I ate and the sauce underneath the falafel were vegan. It's nice to have the labeling on the menu for ease of the whole ordering process and while eating.
Overall, would totally recommend to others! Especially great place for groups of people with varying dietary...
