I was staying in town for work and stumbled on this eatery. The first night of my stay I noticed the place was packed at 11 on a Thursday night. Figured it must be good to have that big of a crowd that late. 2nd night in town I broke down and treated myself. I was hoping for jerk pork and rum cake, but they were out of both. I settled for jerk chicken, plantains, cabbage, and rum cheesecake. It did NOT disappoint! While it was obvious that the jerk chicken was a whole rotisserie style like chicken that had been hacked apart possibly after cooking, it was so good the bones didn't phase me. Perfectly seasoned and just spicey. The plantains were awesome, nice caramelized and slightly sweet. The chicken had been laid on top of the cabbage so the juice had soaked through making the cabbage just as incredible as the chicken. Finally, the rum cheesecake, which had come baked in a nice jar, was lovely. Typical of REAL homemade cheese cake, BUT the caramelized rum sauce gives it a wonderful punch. It made me giggle. Wasn't expecting that. The only thing I regret is that I'm a white girl who wishes I could cook this good and I live too far away to make Good to Go Jamaican a weekly habit. Bartender who took my order was friendly and helpful. If I'm ever out this way again,...
Read moreProbably one of the worst experiences I’ve had, service wise. I called my order in and was told it would be ready in 15 minutes. I waited 35 minutes to go because with previously ordering, I knew that it would not be ready in 15 minutes. I get there and they’re looking confused when I asked about my order. So they come back and tell me “We’re out of fried chicken”. I’m not upset that they were out, it’s the fact that no one called (they took my number after ordering). So when I asked why no one called, her excuse was “I was busy with other orders.” There were at least 2/3 other people at the front of the house. So I told her no thank you (my other food still hadn’t came out). As I’m getting in my car, the lady who took my order follows me out to tell me that my food is now coming up. I explained my frustration and received the driest apology. You would think that this would be compensated in some way. I wasn’t asking for a free meal, but at least some kind of compromise since I waited over 35 minutes and still didn’t even leave with everything that I ordered. I’m big on customer service and that alone would deter me from recommending them to other...
Read moreI HAVEN’T FELT THIS WAY IN A LONG TIME. Let me cook. whenever I go to a restaurant I always get the rum cake because that’s how I test out if it’s good. LEMME TELL U SUM. Out of all the Jamaican or Caribbean restaurants I’ve tried, THIS IS THE ONLY STORE THAT HAS GOOD RUM CAKE. JESUS CHRIST I CANT EVEN ADD A PICTURE IN HERE BECAUSE IT WAS SO GOOD IT LEAPED INTO MY MOUTH SO QUICK. Omg everybody in there deserve a raise and a vacation, not too long though because I’m coming back for more. Oxtail good and the rum cake was fabulous. Oh lord I think I had an awakening from that like I’m not even exaggerating. Like pat on the shoulder to the baker or the chef, Jesus like who ever responsible. Like. Ion even know if there’s some kind of award I can nominate that cake for or the restaurant in general. Don’t blink too long or whoever baked this bouta end up in my pocket but fun and joke aside y’all are phenomenal. Gonna cater y’all for all...
