This is one of my family's favorite restaurants, we come at least once a month. My favorite dish is the lamb lollipop chops and my wife's is the korean steak. We especially like to see what the weekend specials are, the chef always has amazing and unique ideas. Recently we had a charcuterie plate that was incredible, I was very surprised to see this on a menu around here but I would come back just for the pork pate.
The cocktails are also quite excellent and as of the past few months the beer selection has been spectacular, being a huge beer lover this is a very big thing for me. It's been fun for me to come in and see a few new beers every time. The servers don't always seem to know much about what's on tap, but the manager is always more than happy to come and explain each one thoroughly as well as bits of trivia about each brewery.
The only complaint I have about the place is that the service is hit or miss. One night you'll have a server that is attentive, happy, and helpful but the next time you might get one that seems to not care at all about you or their job. That unfortunately seems to be the case with all restaurant in this area so I don't really hold this against them!
If you haven't been to 501 you really do need to give it a try it's a hidden gem.
On a side note I saw a review on here saying they were not allowed to bring their kids in, I have to wonder if they are talking about the right restaurant. I have seen children in there several times and I believe they even have a...
Read moreWe have literally been sitting here waiting for our food, including our appetizers, for almost a hour. Then when we inquired about our food, she came to our table yelling at us and that wasn’t cool. People looking at us while the waitress was yelling at us too. She claim she was waitressing more tables than everyone else was. But the women sitting next to us had a good waitress. It was a ton of people who came in after us, got their food and left the restaurant.
We got tired of waiting and went to the bar to pay for our lemonades. We explain to the bartender that we never received our food not even our appetizers and she replied, Oh well, you should’ve came to tell me maybe I could have done something about it . Now, what could a bartender do about a waitress not bringing our food to our table???
Just disappointing our waitress never came back to say oh do you guys need a refill to update us on the status are of our appetizers or our food so we just decided we weren’t going wait for our food any longer because there’s no possible way that other people are walking in after us and leaving and we’re still sitting here waiting for our food.
My sister ordered soup. How long does it take for a chef to cook soup?? You don’t have to worry about me I won’t be back and you probably should worry about why you’re on the health department list for not having a...
Read moreA return visit to an awesome spot! I love the atmosphere in this place. Its noisy, in a good way! Joe the m'aitre d had our table waiting. How nice to be greeted with a smile! Extra points for that!I 😉 Our server, Hayley, was awesome. Attentive but not constantly hovering. She was ready to make a suggestion when asked. I like that, too! The sesame encrusted Ahi tuna small plate was definitely sufficient for two! It was perfectly beautiful, with its accoutrements, of wasabi, pickled ginger, seaweed and soy. Yum! Next we shared the Traverse City Cherry salad. 5 stars! The dressing was a perfect balance between sweet and tart! Most of the time, vinaigrettes are too sour and acidic for my tastes, but not so here. Hubby had a bowl of seafood bisque, too. He gave me a taste...yum! Just exactly what a seafood bisque should be. So far we were happy campers! The chicken and waffles (large portion) was very good. It needed a little zip. Nothing a little hot sauce in the syrup wouldn't fix! (I make a killer chicken and waffles, ar home 😉). I thought it was great, hubby gave it 4 stars. The martinis were excellent! We...
