I don't like to give bad reviews of a family-owned place, but I'm posting for the sake of anyone else like me who has dietary issues and can't just eat anything. There are no descriptions of the dishes, and when we asked for details, didn't get much help. Tried asking for suggestions, but only got that the Mala chicken is popular with jalapenos. I had told the woman I couldn't eat bell peppers, but hoped to try something interesting and different. She had nothing to say. Finally gave up and asked for beef lo mein while my husband ordered cashew chicken. When they arrived, the cashew chicken was full of bell pepper. My husband sent it back, telling the child who served it that we didn't want bell peppers. Soon the mother came back to the table and was quite unhappy with us. We never told her my husband couldn't have bell peppers. First, we have never had someone not realize that we share our dishes at a Chinese restaurant, and second, we have never been served cashew chicken with bell peppers. This is where descriptions of each dish are necessary.
But even with the peppers removed, neither of us enjoyed our food. Everything seemed heavily fried, not something we have encountered with either dish--and so much celery in the cashew chicken!
The other diners all seemed very happy with their dining experience. Only posting for the sake of others who may not like fried food, or who dislike "fillers" like celery and...
Read more3 Stars: Good. My spouse and I were visiting town for the AL Ren Fair, and unfortunately, the top vegan spot in town had closed by the time we left. Enter Mr. Hui’s to save the day! And save us they did. Expect the usual Chinese favorites from chow mein to spring rolls to fried rice. The wait staff was truly wonderful - give them a high five when you go!
I thought the food was good. I ordered the mapo tofu - my personal favorite - and my spouse had the mala tofu. I probably wouldn’t order the mapo tofu again, but that’s because I came in with preconceived notions of what that particular dish is. The mala tofu was excellent though.
If you’re in town, check it out. Chinese food is comfort food, and I will die on that...
Read moreI am not from Florence and stopped by Mr Hui’s Peacock express for a late lunch. The parking lot only had one car and no one in the restaurant. There were three people who came and picked up orders. I got General Tso’s chicken with fried rice with a spring roll and a side of cream cheese rangoons. The chicken had great taste and all the pieces were soft and tender. (Would definitely get it again) There was not a hard overcooked one. The fried rice was good. The spring roll had a different taste. The cream cheese rangoons were good. I would definitely go back and try their other dishes. The chicken was great. The service was good. They kept water filled and asked if there was anything they could get me. Would...
