Delray Beach is currently the Jewish Capitol of South Florida, and this place is a shrine to Jewish people from places like Brooklyn or Baltimore who grew up in ethnic enclaves and miss their native foods. It is an institution. It is the most famous deli in Palm Beach Country, a place with an estimated Jewish population of over 300,000 people.
If you remember Seinfeld, this is the place that Jerry's parents love to go to the early bird special at. There is no "Boca Del Vista" condos here, but if there were, it would be in Delray Beach, since Boca Raton was so much more prestigious than Delray Beach 20 years ago (before Downtown Delray Beach became so famous), and a view of Boca Raton, south of here by about 1.5 miles, was considered to desirable.
And yes, the early bird specials are great values and legendary, so many people eat dinner at 4:00 PM.
I give this place five stars to anyone who does not get to eat New York deli much, and does not mind crowds at times. . This means do not try to eat there between 11:30 and 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM from November - March. It lightens up considerably in the summer months. There are other Jewish Delis in the area and I rate this one the best. The food is good. I do not consider it great, except for the dill chicken salad I really cannot say that that anything is that memorable as the best. But it is good.
If you go when it is crowded, or if you are used to food portions from the Carnegie Deli in New York, you might want to give it three stars. I am giving it four stars probably because I live here, and know there are other places around that are as good, but do not have as much as a variety.
Note -- the service is NOT rude. They can be cold and efficient if there clientele is annoying. But they are not rude. The busboys actually are quite good at what they do.
Complaints about the people over 80? First of all, all ages eat here. Granted, many are senior citizens but this place is certainly no worst for it.
But definitely come here if you visit. And if you are in downtown Delray, make the 10 minute drive west on Atlantic Avenue to eat here for a change from the oh-so-chic 25 dollar lunches there. It...

Came a second time and I have to say – they deserve a star. The service was better this time and the wait wasn’t so long. Actually, the manager was sweet and kept coming over to ensure we had everything in order. The food was good! We ordered the same thing from last time because its not something we get in the west coast, corned beef sandos with coleslaw and matzo ball soup. We also got beer battered onion rings which were new on the menu – came out hot and fresh, would recommend
02/2025 Visiting during dinner can be a hit-or-miss, especially if you're not prepared for a wait. We arrived as a party of four and experienced a 25-30 minute wait for a table, which was surprising given that many seats were open. It seemed like we had a new server who took a while to take our order. I noticed that a table seated after us received their pickles and bread right away, while we had to wait quite a bit longer for ours. The ambiance was that of a typical deli!
Additionally, the busboys appeared quite eager to assist that particular waitress, which might explain the faster service they received—she likely tips them well to help manage her tables (just a tip for the servers). Unfortunately, our food took longer than expected to arrive, and although the sandwiches were tasty, the fries were served cold.
On a positive note, the corned beef was delicious and Matzo ball soup good! However, the slow service and the cold fries made for a disappointing experience overall. I'd rate 3Gs at a solid 3.5/5. Here’s hoping for improvement on...
Read moreAbsolutely unbelievable. I come from a family of Jewish deli owners so we are very picky. That being said, the portions are HUGE! Prices are beyond fair and the food is delicious. I wish I had taken pictures but before I knew it all the food was gone. They are also very good about food allergies. I am severely gluten intolerant and our server Judith was very knowledgeable. She knew what to tell me to avoid and made appropriate suggestions. She really was a lifesaver for me. Everything we had was delicious. Highly recommend the dinner specials. Pastrami was excellent and the chicken soup could cure any beast of a cold. Desserts are also very good. We went twice in 3 days.
HOWEVER! One exception. We went to buy a few things at the counter before we left and my husband was standing there for a good few minutes with no one coming to help us. Apparently there was only one woman who could ring us up and she was somewhere in the back where nobody could find her. As we were walking out she reappeared with such a horrible attitude toward us that we walked out leaving everything on the counter and a few packages of gluten free bagels that I was planning on taking.. I don’t know her name but she was a real joy, brunette with a short ponytail and a scowl on her face. They should fire her. Everyone else who works there is wonderful but this one was yelling at us for being impatient. Cost the restaurant about 100 bucks they...
