The watresss Elena saved me from having a complete melt down. So I visited my parents about a year ago and they took me here, I have a bourbon in paradise, it was so delicious I thought about it for a year. Coming back to the restaurant yesterday I told Elena I'm nervous to order this drink again bc if it doesn't taste the same I'm going to loose that amazing memory of one of the best drink I ever had. She assured me that all the bartenders are extremely good here, so I ordered it. The first drink a year ago hasmd such a subtle hint of orange with a touch of sweetness and bourbon. This one was over powering sweetness that went away and was just a bourbon on the rocks. I was so disappointed I drank maybe half of it just to show how disappointed I was. Next I decided to pay some money and get the wagyu filet. I've never had wagyu and decided today was the day. Fist bite of flavor was burnt steak. Second bite a little better, then the steak would take turns of different degrees of good, really good, and justa plain steak. I thought wagyu was supposed to be extremely tender. This meat I ordered med-rare, which it was but tough to cut. The au gratin potatoes were cold to warm in some places. I was coming off a 4 day adventure watching the Daytona 500 and wanted a great meal. This was far from it. I have one star bc the food and drink was a complete flop. Elena was so nice and kind, very knowledgeable of the menu, funny, and just a joy to be around. I was so tired from my previous days I had no energy to complain. I ended up eating dairy queen on the way home bc I was still hungry and that food was amazing. Oh I almost forgot about the frozen block of icecream they served me. It was in a Styrofoam cup and just rock hard. They decorated it with a little whip cream. I had to try with all my might to get spoon fulls. The icecream tasted frost bitten and old. Total waste of 250$. Only reasonfood had 2 stars was from the 2-3bites that the wagyu that were really good. Elena should get 6 stars, they were even training a server and the trainer completey ignored us while standing there whispering to the young kid on how to serve. Usually at restaurants I am addressed and explained "this is so and so, he is training tonight" something anything other than what they did this night. Aptosphere is a 3 bc it is a nice place to eat, looks clean and fancy but could be a little more intimate for the price we are paying. Ok mom I complained now they know what they did wrong and will hopefully fix it for the next customers...
Read moreThe Asmosphere is top notch the bar is beautiful and cleverly designed. The live music/ Piano player was a great touch. Unfortunately, that is where the high end, portion abruptly ends.
Our server Halston R was atrocious and his in attentiveness was staggeringly aweful, it was like we were an afterthought. The servers are not trained in how to wait tables in a high end resturant. When the runner brings the food he auctions off the meals one by one, instead of knowing who gets what plate simply not seen in high end fine dining establishments. Additionally there are no back ups' for the servers so no one clears the tables. Friends, that type of service, or lack there of is not high end whatsoever. So, with that said that should just about cover the service portion of the evening.
Now, lets talk about the food, my first clue was that a 10oz filet was only $39, while that may be a good price, we all know you get what you pay for, and my steak was definitely the lower end of the USDA rating scale. I ordered medium rare the hallmark temp of a good filet at was almost raw in the middle and super charred on the ends. The chef who prepared it has no idea how to char, and grill a proper steak. Also, the cut off meat was most likely USDA choice beef, just like the tenderloin you would get at publix.
My wife had the Prime Rib, it was cooked to her liking so no real complaints there. Then there was the dessert. I had the Creme Brulee it was so lemony I could not finish it and the sugar crust that is the hallmark of a good creme brulée was haphazard at best. My wife had the smores, it was horrible the marshmallow was hard where it should have been melted and gooey, as it was it was useless in the dish. Once again attention to detail not even close to being observed and the difference between high end and just end.
Overall the meals was a 2.5/ 3 at best out of 5 only due to the atmosphere. There seems to be a little bait and switch when they called it fine dining as it is in the same class as outback.. Hopefully they will get better over time as they learn that the clientele in LWR wont be fooled into thinking this is fine dining.
Please try it, but not with an expectation...
Read moreDisappointing overall. Giving allowance for being a new restaurant and opening during Covid, I still rate disappointing. Seems management is not very perceptive of service, food and ambience issues.
Pro Potatoes au gratin was excellent. Fun decor (whisky barrel wall paneling, nice bar, etc) although a bit inconsistent in quality. Nice draft beer selection
Con -Super S-L-O-W service. We sat at empty table very long before the first server arrived. Then drinks took forever. Then food took forever++. I wanted to go home by the time our food arrived. The place was not excessively busy FYI. -30 minutes after ordering I was told my meat selection (prime rib) was not available. 30... minutes... after... ordering. So I made a second meat selection. Few minutes later server returns with news that too was not available. I asked her to just bring me whatever is available. -Berries and Brie salad sounded good and would have been except for fact the greens were loaded with long stems to point I was constantly gagging. Gave up and picked out the fruit and cheese. Staff cheerful but very green. Seemed to need more staff headcount. Cute decor ruined by poor lighting. Entry and dining room towards rear have way too bright and glaring ceiling fixtures. Had a cafeteria feel- not comfortable and relaxing. Would benefit from professional interior designer and lighting designer. -Waitress apologized about the long waits and various food debacles, but not a peep from the manager who seemed to not care about much. No discount or future coupon offered for clearly lousy experience- nothing. Pricey
I intended to speak with manager when we left but she seemed to be just going through the motions and not receptive to a chat. She avoided eye contact with me as we were leaving and said nothing. The place was fairly empty by then (9:00pm) so I should have easily merited her attention. Nope.
Nice concept but flawed execution. Owners and management need to bring far more effort and attention to detail. Neighboring restaurants El Conte and Thai Spice are excellent because owners are hands on and passionate about their restaurants. Hope Bourbon and Bones owners step...
