The word "Empathy," Ana ...||... is described as the ability to take on another's perspective, to understand, to feel, and possibly share and respond to their experience. Having lived what I lived on Thursday, October 10, around 5:30 PM, I think you and your associates may want to study the word. And maybe get to put it into practice.||- I live in Palmetto. Like so many others, my world was heavily damaged. No power, no phone, spotty water use, etc.|- More than anything else, I could not get word to my family in Wisconsin that I was alive and okay.|- A co-worker informed me that there was power in much of Lakewood Ranch. I packed my computer and headed there.|- I could not find any restaurants or fast food places open. But I saw activity at your location.|- I explained my situation to a young lady at the desk and asked if I could use the WiFi. She was nice and said "sure."|Here is where it goes off the wheels.|- There were PLENTY of empty tables. I was in a corner, quietly writing. I was not trying to serve myself to whatever amenities your dump may offer.|- About 20 minutes in, enter "Lupe." I believe that was her name. Though, "Lupus" or "Loopy" may have fit better. Bigger girl. Too much makeup.|- She informed me, rather impolitely, that I was not a hotel guest and that in order to use the WiFi on my laptop, I had only 20 more minutes until I needed to leave. |- I have NEVER so much wanted to make a scene. |Did "Loser" realize that people's lives were ruined and turned upside down in the past 24 hours? I doubt it. |Did "Lumpy" really feel that, more or less, throwing someone out would help anything? Apparently not.||Here is what you should know:|1. After composing myself, I went to Hampton. I told them the story and they laughed at how rude your location acted. They really could not believe your organization would do such a thing. I was told I was welcome there as long as I wanted.|2. In my work, I travel quite a bit. Come to think of it, the company books a lot of hotels. I know one chain that will be eliminated off our list real quick.|3. I have not lived here long, but I was planning to have family and friends visit this winter. I know one place that will not be considered.|4. A copy of this email will be going to corporate. ||Finally, look up the word "empathy" and, maybe, "professionalism." While you are at it, look up "inviting." Then, look up the term "lost revenue." I think you will want to familiarize yourself with it.||As I told "Leaky" on my way out, I hope the next hurricane to hit this area comes right through your Fairfield by Marriott. Then, maybe, you'll understand "empathy."||You have a...
Read moreHad a terrible experience during my stay. First, the hotel is NOT SECURE. The front desk staff shared my room number with a person not listed on my reservation. I was traveling with my spouse for a funeral. My uncle was staying at this location. He left an item in the car after after riding with me the previous evening. The following morning he approached the front desk, provided my name, and was given access to my room number. He appeared at my door at 7am. I asked how he got my room number and stated, “I just asked the front desk and they gave it to me.” He seemed shocked himself as he told me. I approached the manager, Will, and he brushed it off by saying the employee that gave him my room number is “new” and they will “talk to her.” This is unacceptable. They have no idea that my uncle and I even knew each other. We have different last names, did not travel together, live in different states, and he was not listed on my reservation. To add to the experience, upon our initial arrival I checked in via the Marriott app and was told I could access my mobile room key and room assignment through the app. The mobile key never displayed and we were not assigned a room. We arrived at the hotel and upon immediate entrance we smelled fesses and a floral spray to mask it. The smell was horrible and thought the lobby, elevator, and every floor you reached. The room was extremely dirty with urine or coffee stains in the sheets, blood splatter on the closet door, and mold in the shower. Lastly, the doors do not close securely. When opening the door the look sticks on the outside preventing the door from closing. If you do not pay attention before walking away the door would be sitting in the open position allowing anyone to enter. Every time we left we had to play with the door handle to unstick the lock so the door would close all the way. I’ve never seen this and the mechanism of the lock appeared to be intentionally altered to do this. This hotel did not feel safe. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Stayed...
Read moreVery small room, shower was dirty and hairs were all over in it, I own a cleaning and property management Company and I would have been very upset if my staff cleaned the bathroom that way. But, the worst part was there was no refrigerator in our room and we had life saving insulin with us with no place to store it. Also, we drove to Florida from Michigan to have my mom's funeral, and had to check out a day early. We stayed one night, Cleaned up the room after ourselves and explained we were there for a funeral and had an emergency we had to leave for a day early. They didn't give two craps, not an " I'm so sorry"....we got nothing but a "thanks for checking out" Maybe it was because we had a small dog, I'm honestly not sure, But we stay in hotels all over and get some beautiful rooms. This one was just not good at all. And I can't believe they charged us 2 full stays after arrival of a funeral and then leaving because of a break in at our property in Georgia. We stayed in 4 Hotels total that were all pet friendly, and this was the only one that was not really clean, small, and no refrigerator, microwave etc. I was the one who organized my mother's funeral and I had just drove 22 hours from Michigan. If I hadn't been so tired, and needed to shower and be up at 5am. I would have just checked out and went to a different hotel. Mainly because of the shower being so dirty and yucky hairs in it, and because we needed to keep the insulin cold. I Never complain, and probably would never had spoken up if you had not asked for a review. I also understand they did tell me because I called and got the room last minute that I couldn't cancel at that point. But seeing how 7 different rooms were all occupied by my family for a military funeral at Sarasota national cemetery I would have thought they would have refunded the night we didn't stay or give us a free night in another hotel. And offer us a military discount seeing that my husband is an Army War Veteran. Thank you for listening to my...
