We had lunch at Danny's in Palm Harbor today and it was very good. When we first arrived just a few minutes after noon, there was only one other person along with the bartender. However, while we were there, others arrived and it became a hoppin' place! As this is a sports bar, there are huge TV's everywhere and most were playing a sport or people talking about sports. There were lots of the Lightning, yeah! But a couple were on the Game Show Network which was fun because when we first came in an older Wheel of Fortune was playing and then it was some shows of Match Game '74. Betty White 45 years ago was really pretty. I still think she's beautiful at age 97 but 45 years younger she was really good looking!
Now, the good stuff - our food! I was very happy with my bacon cheeseburger. I asked for it medium rare and that is how it came, with a warm pink center and still nicely juicy. The lettuce was crispy and tomatoes were ripe. The bacon was nicely cooked and swiss cheese was totally melted Fries were nicely salted and not too greasy. My husband had the chicken wings and he ate them quite quickly so guess they were good, I forgot to ask him, sorry. He had a Yuengling and I had a Diet Coke. Our bartender was very attentive and friendly. She and I had a nice conversation about last night's Lightning game; she had been there and I had watched it on TV at home. She was very impressed with how friendly the Canadians who attended were to the Lightning fans.
Only thing to be prepared for when you go here is if you go on a sunny day, you'll need a bit of time for your eyes to adjust as it's quite dark inside. Once your eyes adjust, all is fine, but it's a bit disconcerting...
Read more$9 onion rings are bull spit. Can't believe I wasted my money on these. I feel like I probably was just paying for the expensive sauce cups with the connected hinge lids.
Note that the photo is taken after 2 onion rings were eaten.
Edit after the owner/manager response:
Even yet, I ordered the onion rings because I anticipated receiving $9 worth of onion rings. For $9, you should receive 2 sauces, and frankly I never even worried if I would be charged for the second one or not.
This was equivalent to probably 2 slices of onions, singled out and battered. I'm being generous with that.
Rising costs? It's an onion. If you don't have a good food service supply company, just say so.
I also even asked the bartender "are these my $9 onion rings?" And she says "yep!" You'd think that hearing my questioning tone would be enough.
Thank you for your attempt to defend yourself. You should know better than to get to defend the plate shown as $9 worth of food. I can get a full cheeseburger and French fries for only $3 more.
Oh, also ... The jalapeno popper grilled cheese comes out cold as ice in the middle.
I guess I'd only ever get drinks from this place again,...
Read moreNever never never come on Sunday after 10:00pm. I was having a debate with a couple law student colleagues. We were the only people in the bar. And the bartender kicked us out, literally said you need to leave, because he thought we were having an argument. An argument that he couldn't understand. And what did it matter anyway. We weren't getting physical. We weren't yelling at each other. We were just debating. Stating scientific fact and actually enjoying ourselves for once. And we were buying drinks. So clearly he's not interested in having business? The bar was dead, so who cared if we were having a debate. And we were all smiling and laughing so he clearly was socially inept. Bald guy. Tall. Clearly uneducated. I would definitely stay away from Sunday evenings. ..... Although the Sunday DAY bartender makes an amazing drink. Definitely come during the day on Sunday. Super cute nice guy. Can handle a debate between law students and friends without being intimidated by the fact that they think. Thinking is good. Life is good. â¤ď¸ I won't be back on a Sunday night. You shouldnt either unless you want someone who controls your...
