I've been going to this location for a little more than 2 months now and I'm pretty happy with it. I recently moved here from Chicago and had been trying to find a gym that was decent and was reasonably priced. You certainly get that with this gym. The equipment is your typical standard equipment you'd find at most gyms and gives you what you need to have a good workout. From multiple types of cardio machines to free weights and weight machines that work all your major muscle groups, there's something for everyone, (except thoses that may be considered "meat heads" for which they have the signature "lunk alarm" for). The 30 min workout room is also a great option for people who are looking to get a full body workout in a short time frame. They have large locker rooms that have showers as well, several tanning booths, 2 massage chairs (although being a licensed massage therapist myself I feel they totally suck! :P lol) and plenty of drinks for sale. The facility is kept pretty clean and is decently large in size. The staff are friendly, especially Dan and their new trainer Geoff, whom I've taken a training session from. It was a "design your own season" and after talking with me about background and finding out my goals, he put together a great starter routine for me to follow. I encourage everyone who is just starting out in their workout routine or getting back into it to try out these sessions with Geoff. You will not only learn how to use the equipment properly and comfortably but you may learn a few things you didn't know as well. All in all, along with the facility, the staff and being a black card member, (which has quite a few extra perks) I am quite happy with this gym! :)
P.S. I give them a "very good" instead of an "excellent" only because I think having REAL massage being offered would be so...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreSince my initial post a year or so ago this planet fitness had made many changes upgrading the equipment. It definitely is a lot cooler inside as it used to be. They still are short on 45 lb weights for the Smith machines and the leg press. If you need more than 245 lb weights you have to go take it from the other machines. Other than that babe fixed all my previous concerns and are up to four star.
The Planet Fitness is in a nice shopping plaza and easy to access. Not that I'm here to hang out with the staff but when I entered and exited nobody greeted me or said goodby as I left.
One of the main reasons I give this only two stars is the equipment is older and the leather coverings on the equipment have cracks and are deteriorating.
I was pleased This Planet Fitness had a leg press machine. This is also known as a leg sled where you put actual weights on the machine for pressing. The only drawback to this is there are three Smith machines and a leg press machine. They have a grand total of fourteen 45 lb weights.
This equated to 8:45 lb weights for the leg press total and four 45 lb weights for each Smith machine. I am not some big bodybuilder guy but when I was doing a leg press and needed more weights there was none to be had. I had to go scrounge some 25 lb weights. By doing so it takes up more room and I was very limited to the maximum amount of weight I could put on the machine. I would like to see them bye at least four more 45 lb weights.
The temperature outside was probably in the high 80s, low '90s and it was very warm inside the gym. They put their cardio machines by the front window and the radiating Heat makes this area very warm. They have very small ceiling fans and it causes an excessive amount of heat in this area. The only cool place inside the business was in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent early Sunday morning 11/6. The shower curtains were gross with caked on gunk and hairs. There were left empty bottles, razors and floss in 2 of the showers. The only clean shower was the handicap and as no one was in there I opted for that one (though I'd prefer not to so it's available for someone who might need it.) Anyways I got undressed, started the shower and the water barely trickled out. Looking up at the showerhead, it was because there was so much brown gunk and black mold (I'm guessing) that it restricted the water flow. Really gross. I had to change to one of the dirty showers but soon realized the drain didn't drain properly and was so slow it was not only filling the shower up higher than my thick shower slides onto my feet but hair and debris was coming up from the drain. It was the shower next to the handicap so they definitely need a plumber or something to fix that because seriously unhygienic. Basically I couldn't really shower because I was stuck in the corner waiting for the gross water to slowly drain down so I could even get out. My spouse and I recently got memberships, and honestly I don't think I'd come back to this location unless they did serious deep cleaning and got a plumber to fix the drain issues. Members leaving trash is understandable but the gross curtains, walls, grout etc in the showers was not ok for me. The other areas of the gym, bathroom, locker room seemed...
