It's a shame, many years ago, Big Apple was one of our favorite local places to sit with friends and family, and they had a caring staff and good food (we're from New York, we know pizza). That's obviously not the case anymore. Seems like they may have changed owners or something. It's not charming anymore, now it's straight up offensive. I was warned not to go there but I kept saying I remember how nice it was and it couldn't have changed that much... I was wrong. It's like a totally different place, and that has nothing to do with the location but the service and menu. Recently walked in and the waitress looked at us like we just ruined her life. Before we were even seated, it felt like a cloud of negativity fell over the room, we sat in silence and just communicated using eyebrow movements to sort of ask, "are we misinterpreting the situation or is the waitress dysfunctionally high." We asked a few very simple questions about the menu, all responses were, "I don't know" or just awkward silence and shrugs. Went to wash my hands in the men's restroom and the toilet started bubbling viciously, disgusting water spurting up into the air, and I had to quickly jump to the corner by the door to avoid it getting on me (think a little landed on my shoes.) After that, we realized one of the orders was made incorrectly (explicitly did the opposite of what we requested - said not to add something so, they added extra, making it completely inedible - still gagging, thinking about it) and the rest of it all seemed super cheap. Possible the meats are cut, processed, breaded and frozen in a factory beforehand? The only positive part of this nightmare was the garlic knots, which were an 8.5 out of 10 (could have been a 9 if they were salted a little, could have been a 10 if served with marinara, and I don't say that lightly, they really were good. Unfortunately, everything else was a failure. Pizza was stiff and flavorless, fries looked like they were cooked in oil that hadn't been changed in a month, etc. Portions weren't bad but quantity over quality isn't what small pizzerias should be aiming for. If the food is gross, having more of it isn't going to make the experience any better. I mean, stepping in crap once is unpleasant, we don't step in it again and tell ourselves 'more is better. I'm a very forgiving and understanding person and it takes a lot for me to say that I'm totally done with something but... I'm done with that place!
In conclusion, it's going to be difficult to boycott them, knowing remembering how good those knots were but at this point, it just has to be done. That kind of careless attitude shouldn't be tolerated, especially in the food industry. One must ask themselves, if they act this way up front, imagine how they act in the kitchen where you can't see...
Read moreIf they could get zero stars they would. Amanda and Joe are the most unprofessional owners I have ever come acrossed. We purchased wings and a chicken parm meal, I went and picked it up. They told me 15 minutes, got there about 15 mins later. Food was not ready, no big deal maybe they are finishing up. Sat there for 15 mins for them to bring my food out. Get home itâs about 845 now. Get my kids ready for bed. Sit down to eat, 1 they forgot the garlic knots to my meal, I peel my wings when I eat them (for this reason) straight black inside my wings. Not one was I able to eat (mind you I ordered 20). We called to make them aware of the situation told us there was nothing they could do tonight the kitchen was closed, asked if the owners would call me the following day. No call from the owners the following day so I called around 12 the âmanagerâ answered and told me to bring the wings in and sheâd see what she could do. Brought them in later that night and offered me replacement wings and said thatâs all she could do because itâs the next day! Seriously ? Even tho I called that night, had my receipt and all the uneaten black wings that I brought with me. Told her no disrespect but I will never eat these wings again $20 on wings I couldnât eat and told me they are bruised and thatâs how some wings are, refused to give me a refund. Told her I want the owners to call me once again. Days go by and donât hear anything. So I call back to be told the owners will not be calling me they are not going to do anything about the situation! A simple phone call , just goes to show you what type of owners they are. Clearly have no customer service and does not care about the customers and the food they ar me serving. Becareful with what...
Read moreMy complaint is primarily on "Kayla". I have never met a more rude, condescending, sarcastic individual in my life. She clearly needs to be taught some manners. I watched her trying to pass the buck to the other nice polite counter girl because she was too busy trying to look busy. Kayla offered to help me because the other one was busy. As soon as I told her my purpose for my visit, she told me to hold so she can answer the phone. Which that, was ok. She never came back to help me. The other girl continued to be busy. Kayla then walked out and called out the other girl for not helping me, again the other girl was still busy. I told her that she was the one that had offered to help me but didn't and walked away. She said, "sorry" very rudely. Then my order was not to my satisfaction and I told her, and she was trying to even charge me more after I had paid. I explained that I had already paid for the extra cheese and she then schooled me by saying "Well I am telling you it is there." My departure was even less friendly. It ended up with her being VERY sarcastic as I turned to leave and when I turned around and responded to her, she clearly new she had crossed the line. To the point, the other girl apologized to me as I was leaving. Kayla needs to learn some manners instead of being a snotty little brat. Someone needs to take her outback and school her on respect and manners. I cannot believe they have someone like her working there. I will definitely think twice before I ever spend my money there. the food was ok, but...
