Very festive design. You would never guess it was once a TGIFridays since they did a lot of remodeling in this location. Upon arriving fairly early for dinner (@4:45PM), we thought we would have no problem being seated as it was already pretty busy, but apparently they do not seat you according to guest comfort, but to accommodate servers. Our choices were to be seated outside (very windy at that time and a bit of a chill as the sun was behind the clouds) or in the bar area at a high top table. The several open tables in the main dining room were not available for us for reasons unknown.đ¤ (Between arthritis in both deteriorated hips and a very elder person, neither of us drink alcohol, I guess it made sense for the host to seat us in the bar at tables that are at chest level on chairs that require mountain climbing skills. đ) After sitting for a few minutes, someone came by and dropped a basket of tortilla chips and salsa on the table managing not to make eye contact and not speaking a word. It was hard to snack on those without a beverage or at least some water, so we anxiously awaited our server. A table next to us was seated a few minutes later. They too had the mystery delivery of chips and salsa, but a server came by shortly after and brought them drinks and took their order. We stared at our chips for another 10 minutes by the time our server came by to take our order. (20+ minutes... We contemplated leaving.) Our server, no idea of what his name was because he just popped up and asked for our drink order, far from apologetic for the wait, just asked if we were ready to order our food. We ordered the fajita for 2. (@$31) A very large serving arrived quickly. The shrimp was fresh and tasty (8 medium shrimp), but the shredded chicken and beef, with the few pieces of onion and peppers all tasted like lime juice with not a lot of other flavors. The rice had carrots, green beans and corn blended in with a hint of tomato sauce blended in the rice. It was a little dry, but not bad. Did not care for the refried beans as they too lacked a whole lot of personality. They give you a platter of meats to make 8-10 6" fajitas, but serve only 6 wraps with the 2 plates of rice, beans and about a teaspoon of guacamole, sour cream and pico on bagged salad mix. (Our server only brought us 1 side plate, so I had to wrap and eat my fajita on the foil wrap from the tortilla wraps as the sides plate had no room.) As I was eating my second wrap, our server came by asking if everything was ok as he continues walking. Couldn't even ask for an extra napkin. We finally caught him for a box for the leftover food and I asked for my drink refill to go since I had been waiting for a while to get one and couldn't sit in the highchair much longer. Overall, the food was okay with a large portion, the service lacked at our table, but the restaurant is well lit, decorated and clean. We might try again some other time to see if it's just rookie mistakes at a fairly new place or it...
Read moreThe food is good, but the service is awful. I placed a take out order on a Friday night for 3 entrĂŠes, 1 appetizer, and one dessert. My dad went in and picked up the food. We got home and noticed our dessert the cheesecake was not in there. No big deal, I worked in the restaurant industry for 14 years (5of those doing strictly takeout) things are sometimes forgotten we are human it happens. So I called the restaurant and talked to an employee told her what happened, she then put me on the phone with another employee and I told her the story as well. She replied with âWe double check all our orders, we donât miss anything, it was in the bag.â I was taken aback by that but kept my cool, said to her it was not and asked if I could get a refund on that since I paid with my card. She told me no one here is able to do that. So I asked if then I could just come and get one since I only live 10 minutes away and itâs not a big deal to drive for that. She said in a very snappy and short tone be ready in 15 minutes. So my dad went with me and ran in to get it while I circled the parking lot. We arrived about 20 minutes after my phone call, and it took my dad another 20 minutes to come out of the restaurant. He was mad, because not only was a server trying to pull the same thing of âwe check all the bags it was in thereâ, they were trying to charge my dad for the cheesecake we did NOT receive. He asked for a manager and one âwasnât availableâ and after some back and forth someone said fine just give him the cake. So they finally made it and gave it to him, and he told me the woman who was trying to make him pay gave him a smug look and said very condescendingly âenjoy your cakeâ. I wonât lie we were first of all upset but also uncomfortable with how she said that we didnât eat the cake. Like I said I worked in the restaurant industry for 14 years, my dad in the restaurant industry over 40 years. Mistakes happen and thatâs okay we are human. It more than likely got put in someone elseâs take out order, it happens. But I never once treated a customer that way at all, and I would never. Also for note we never lost our cool or raised our voices because we wouldnât treat anyone like that. We will never come back because of...
Read moreMy wife and I had lunch here on Sunday. The place is roomy, easily accommodating what we perceived was an after Church crowd. We also noticed the majority of the patrons were Hispanic (read Mexicans) which says something about the quality of the food. The service staff was entirely Hispanic, but Iâm not sure if that says anything. The menu was rather extensive, including many dishes with which we were unfamiliar - but from their descriptions looked very good. My wife ordered enchiladas and i ordered the fish tacos. There were a lot of options for tacos, none of which included ground beef (my second favorite). I just donât trust restaurants to provide a good quality steak taco. Most of them are flank steaks, riddled with gristle and fat - neither of which I will eat. The prices were a bit high, but typical of Zero Beach - geared too much toward the beach crowd and the ever present snow birds - and not toward the every day working person who supports local businesses year round. No wonder we and a lot of our friends travel outside Indian River County for a good meal. And no wonder a lot of local restaurants are closing. Duh! Anyway, back to Casa Amigos, Zero Beach. The fish tacos (3 in number) were very good. As were my wifeâs enchiladas. Both dishes came with rice and beans. The rice was much different and more delicious than any other Mexican restaurant in town. The beans were good, although they looked like baby poop. Ugh. Close your eyes! We elected not to have a drink - primarily due to the hour of the day, but the prices are ridiculous. We decided to pass on the alcohol and wait for happy hour at home. In summary, we like this place. We, and I think I speak for the majority of Mexican food lovers in Zero Beach, couldnât afford to eat here more than once or twice a month, but weâll never go to Ay Jaliscoâs or Blue Agave again - this new place will run them out of business. The service was excellent and every employee we encountered spoke English fluently - which is a plus! The cost of our meal was just south of $40.00, but we will return - after my small business loan...
