My boyfriend and I were taken advantage of at this JC Penny. My boyfriend was kind enough to open a JC Penny credit card and buy me a beautiful ring from the fine jewelry department. Although beautiful not my size or my style. He removed the tags to avoid showing the cost to me. When i expressed to him that i would like to return and exchange it for something i would prefer to wear he was perfectly fine with this. We went to exchange or return... We were told we could not do either! this was 3 days after the purchase. We had the tags, the original packaging and the account info for his NEWELY OPENED jc penny credit card... The manager and associate were both very cold and rude. They had absolutely no customer services skills. On the receipt my boyfriend did sign saying that he could only RETURN the ring within 60 days with the tags attached. Being a former manager at Talbots (where the customer is treated properly) I understand that the tags were removed, and we were no longer able to return. The manager also informed me that I would not be able to make an exchange either... however there was nothing in writing saying we would not be able to exchange the jewelry. I found that very strange considering my experience working in retail. I told the manager that the receipt only says, "return within 60 days with tags attached"(in handwriting) not anything about exchanging it... She replied that "returns and exchanges are the same thing".... I replied, "that is not correct, returns are in fact different than exchanges." Then with me challenging her phony information she tells me the only way i can exchange the ring is if i pick something more expensive... I was okay with this thinking I could find something in a similar price range. I did find a beautiful ring that was not too much more than the one i was exchanging. When we got to the register i had to remind the associate that we are still entitled to the 40% off for opening a credit card since it was going to be an exchange purchase that my boyfriend had opened the credit card for in the first place. The associate takes the temp card info and says the discount has already been used and we would only be able to get 20% off... I never would expect for a store like this to be able to seemingly make up their own rules. We were completely taken advantage of. I will be pursuing more action to assure they are not ripping off other vero...

JcPenny at Indian River county Mall in Vero Beach Fl has a lot and I mean a lot of explaining to do!!!😡😡 I plan on pursuing a racial discrimination lawsuit against the company! My Birthday was ruined yesterday because of the way my friend and I were treated yesterday! I did file a police report for harassment and I will mail it to JcPenny headquarters! When I did go in to talk to the manager And I asked him to review the tape to see that we did even step on foot in the store he would not do it and he simply pointed to the door and told me to "Get out of his store now!" Please do not shop here! Your hard money should not support a store that maliciously make false accusations (and act on those false accusations) against individuals who did not even come in the store! I demand answer on why we were treated like that yesterday and on all the days my Birthday!!! We were humiliated embarrassed and very angry with JC pennies horrible stereotyping and racially profiling tactics!😡 very very upset...
Read moreWent to our JCP store to purchase a Kuerig. For sale in store for 119.99. Online JCP for 99.99. Showed customer service the online ad. They said they could not sell the store stock for 99.99, we would have to order it on-line. Ok, so we ordered it right there and they would call when it came in. Breakdown....99.99 for product, 7.00 tax AND 4.99 SHIPPING!! Meanwhile, we are looking at a STACK of the the same Kuerig model setting on the display floor. Customer service agreed it is crazy but that is the JCP policy. OK. Once at home we found the same Kuerig on Amazon for 98.49, free shipping with Prime and no tax, delivery the next day! Ordered from Amazon and tried to cancel JCP order. They said we would have to wait until it came in to cancel. OK. One week later, no call from JCP. We went to the store to see if it came in......yes. Customer service brought it out and we promptly returned it. Oh, and they kept the 4.98 shipping charge!!!! Seems to me that JC PENNY needs to work on there customer service. This bad experience just cost JPC another customer plus a not so good...
