It's been more than a year since I've been to this pizza place and discovered when I drove up that the name had changed and the management had broken away from the Westshore pizza family of restaurants. The name recently changed from Westshore to Big G's and all I can say is that the G must stand for 'Go Anywhere Else.'
Nothing has changed inside - it's still a dated mom and pop place that serves adequate pizza by the slice, but now the service is literally hostile. I went there with my son and we both purchased the 2 Slices and a drink meal deal for $7. We were the only ones in the place.
When I ordered I asked for a second cup for water and they said it was their policy not to give out water cups because they could be used to steal soda. I mentioned we each purchased sodas so asked how could we steal something we already bought. I was told that was their policy and they refused to give me a second cup. Even though it was just the two of us in the place, common sense did not prevail. Crazy, but it gets worse.
After getting our pizza I asked for Parmesan cheese and peppers - you know, like they have at every other pizza place in America. I was told they were 50 cents each. They had no little sealed packets of either and I was told emphatically if I wanted those toppings I could bring my pizza to the counter and they would sprinkler some on my pizza from the bottle in the kitchen. Otherwise, I could pay the 50 cents for each little package and was directed to the sign on the register. I told her that was crazy and that every pizza place has those condiments available.
I said, how about some salt? They told me they could sprinkle some salt on my pizza if I wanted it, but that no salt shakers were allowed in the dining area. When I asked if they had little packets of salt, she tossed one packet on the counter. I said, "that's it? I get one?" She tossed a second one on the counter and said, "If you don't like it here you don't have to come back. I'm just following the rules."
I asked to speak with the manager and the three people standing behind the counter said there was no manager there.
I went back to my table with my two little salt packets. While eating, I overheard the staff commiserating about other customers who had asked for things or complained and heard one of the employees comment that he told one customer they could F-off if they didn't like it.
In these situations, I always wonder if it's me or if the staff is just having a bad day and try first to check myself. Curious, I opened the Google reviews and saw all the reviews where other customers were treated the same way. Apparently it's not me. This is standard operating procedure for this place.
There are a lot of great pizza places in Tampa. The pizza is fine here, but absolutely not worth being treated like garbage. I will...

My family use to order from the Westshore pizza location on Lambright 2 times a week, Until today. I will NEVER order form here again.
On Saturday we had a couple friends over and placed an order for 12 wings and a Pepperoni pizza. I placed it at 7:30pm.
9:15 came and I called to check on my order. They told me it was "out for delivery"
(I only live 3 miles away)
9:45- Still nothing. I call. Was told it was "out for delivery"
15 minutes go by and finally the food arrives. 10pm
I pay and go inside, we are all starving. I open the box and the food is ICE COLD. Both the pizza and wings are completely cold. Like they had been sitting for HOURS.
I call the location thinking since we order all the time that they will take care of this since we are loyal customers.
I was told since I had a "bite" of the pizza there was nothing they could do. Finally they offered to remake our food and deliver it. At this point its almost 10:15. We were all starving and didn't want to eat dinner at midnight. I asked her if we could just get a credit on our account for our next order. First she said no and then she said "no problem" that she would "add a note" to the account. I asked for her name and she said "Jessica"
Flash forward to today: we call to place a replacement order. What a surprise. No note. So they said there was nothing they can do. No compassion or trying to make a wrong situation right, they were just cold (kind of like my food was)
I call back to speak to the manager "Debbie" and she straight up calls me a liar and says she "looked at the time stamps" The convo ended by me telling her I would make sure everyone knows how they do business and her hanging up on me.
VERY VERY VERY RUDE people here. Seriously awful. I cannot believe this is how businesses treat their LOYAL...
Read moreI used to love this place for its unmistakable mom-and-pop charm, where pizza wasn’t just assembled but crafted with instinct, care, and an understanding of tradition. It was a staple, a place where every bite reflected years of dedication. But since the management changed, that spirit has been stripped away, leaving behind something hollow, mechanical, and utterly forgettable.
Precision has replaced passion. Ingredients are carefully rationed on a scale, as if great pizza is a calculation rather than a craft. The once-bold flavors have faded, the toppings are sparse and uninspired, and the dough has lost all character—bland, lifeless, a mere vessel rather than the foundation of something great. The garlic cheese bread is perversion—two deflated, pallid hot dog buns posing as something edible, struggling to contain a meager, apathetic dusting of cheese. A sad, lifeless creation that embodies the very abandonment of care and craftsmanship. It sat on the plate like an afterthought, dry to the point of parody, as if even the oven resented its existence.
The first time I noticed the decline, I convinced myself it was an anomaly. A bad day, an off night. But when I returned, hoping for a glimpse of what once made this place special, I found only confirmation of its downfall. This isn’t a temporary lapse. This is a choice. A deliberate departure from everything that made it worth coming to in the first place.
The days of a man, bent with age and experience, shaping dough with hands that had long since memorized the craft, are over. In his place, a system that prioritizes efficiency over excellence, calculation over soul. What was once a place of warmth and authenticity is now little more than another forgettable business, churning out...
