I give it two stars just because the food was good. My husband and I used to be regulars here. Honestly, we spent way too much money here weekly ($60-$90) but we loved the service and the food. It’s been a year since we last visited because we moved out of town. So when we moved back in town the first restaurant we came to was Cali Cafe.
I was less than pleased by the service provided. The lady taking our order seemed so irritated by my husband. I almost said something to her but I decided to keep my mouth shut. Then her coworker seemed the same like she was annoyed she had to serve us. Is it the language barrier or because I’m black? because the Spanish lady that was before us in line she was not served with the same nasty attitude. Being that I am former military, I can brush off a person giving me attitude. I cannot brush off a woman disrespecting my husband right in front of me. That will be the last time I come to this place and I’ll be sure to refer to my colleagues not to come here. I don’t care how good your food is, if your customer service is trash then you’ll lose business.
Last thing I want to point out was that I didn’t see the owner that day. Makes me wonder if he was there would we have been treated the same.
Edit: since we are not able replay direct I want to reply by placing an edit. I believe the owner when he says he isn’t racist and treat people the same; but that doesn’t mean his employees hold the same value. He doesn’t know his employees like he think he does. Also, just because the owner is a minority holds no weight when it comes to racism. Im black, I’m a minority, it doesn’t mean I can’t be racist. I realize that the one time the owner wasn’t present was the one time we got an attitude from his employees. Even my husband said she had an attitude but he decided to ignore it. Last but not least, saying “I’m sorry you feel that way” isn’t a proper/sincere apology. There’s zero accountability in that weak apology. He’s taking his employees side. If I was an evil person, I would have my 1mil followers on social media to all leave a bad...
Read moreA Hidden Gem with a True Coffee House Vibe
We've visited Cali Cafe multiple times, and it's about time we shared our thoughts. This place is simply beautiful, capturing that true coffee house and bakery feel that’s so hard to find. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with calming, relaxing vibes that make you feel at home.
The owner is fantastic. He’s always mingling with the customers, making everyone feel welcome, and his knowledge of coffee is nothing short of outstanding. Whether you're a coffee aficionado or just someone looking for a great cup, you’re in good hands here.
Over our visits, we've had a variety of items—from breakfast sandwiches and bakery goods to their wide selection of delicious coffee. Today, I enjoyed a cafe con leche, and my girlfriend had an iced coffee; both were superb. We also shared a freshly baked cinnamon roll, which was the perfect way to start our morning.
The staff is always extremely friendly, adding to the overall warm and inviting atmosphere. The only small issue we’ve encountered is the service time. Orders can be a bit slow to come out, but the quality of the food and coffee makes it well worth the wait.
Cali Cafe is definitely a place we’ll continue to revisit, over and over. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great coffee...
Read moreA girlfriend and I went to have empanadas and mango smoothies. The place was clean with lots of seating inside and a few seats outside. The order taker had the patience to explain the menu and ingredients to me and helped me with my pronunciation of the dishes/sauces. My friend is Columbian and grew up eating most of these things, so she needed no help. The food came out hot and fast! The beef empanada was flavorful with a nice crunch to the bite from the outside crust. The inside was tender meat and savory potatoes. I like it better with the aja sauce because it gives it a nice little zing and kick of spice. The chicken empanada was very bland but still had that great crunch to the bite. While I could see that there was chicken and potatoes in it, there was no distinguishable flavor to it. Even with the aja sauce, the only flavor was the sauce itself. I thought that to be weird as the beef was the opposite. You have a choice of your smoothie being made with water or milk. We chose water and no kidding, it tasted like biting into a fresh mango! I also tried the puffy casava cheese bread (I can't remember the name of it). It was served chilled which I wasn't expecting but it's a great flavor combination. I'd like to try dipping it into hot chocolate, so I will be back to explore more...
