Unfortunately, most people only write a restaurant review when they're been sufficiently upset. Same here.
For almost three years we ordered from New China just about every week. Sometimes twice a week. We liked it and only had a few issues, none of which were a big deal.
Tonight (10/8/17) we ordered one of our old favorites (Sesame Chicken). My two-year-old daughter was so excited she was jumping up and down shouting "chicken, chicken" as it was being delivered (it's a regular thing).
We gave her some. She was so happy. And then she spit it out. And the next piece. And again. And began crying "chicken, chicken." I tried it. It was extremely chewy and tasted wrong. I mean so bad I threw it away.
So my wife called. The woman she spoke to said she could not understand my wife's accent, so I talked to the woman. I explained the problem. And was told they couldn't send anyone to deal with it, they were too busy. And also no one else had complained tonight. That was stressed a couple of times. No one else complained.
Because that was important to me when my daughter was crying for her dinner.
But, I was told, I could bring the dish back, and they'd make another one. So, after paying for delivery and tipping the delivery driver, I was being told in order to get what I paid for, I'd have to come myself, forfeiting the money I'd paid for delivery.
Had I been offered a new meal, a credit for a future order, even a straight-up refund, I'd have been fine. Bad meals happen. But having my concerns dismissed soured me on the entire restaurant.
Does one bad experience discount dozens and dozens of good ones? Yeah, if it's bad enough it can.
The good news is, New China will be a bit less busy in the future and not have this problem. At least one family is ordering somewhere else...
Read moreThis place actually serves good food and it's the only Chinese place that we go to in our area. Unfortunately after dealing with the owners of the establishment I realized I will no longer give my hard earned money to people that dont speak English. It's not my problem that you only had one driver that evening. Now when you spend 50 bucks on Chinese after tip of course you would expect it to show up on time and hot, well it didn't. An hour and a half later it showed up and was cold now you tell me would you want to eat cold crab Rangoon's and two whole orders of sweet and sour chicken that was soggy from the moisture of sitting in the bag? I think not. So we called them back and told them the problem and right away the women owner who speaks horrible English tells me they only have one driver. So in a nutshell of all the jibberish she spoke on the phone she said she would take care of it. No one came back to get the food or call us back. So fast forward a week and my family and I go to the actual store to talk to them to collect our redo over of our food. It took one second to realize the sons brains are as smart as his mother's English. And because we didn't return the food they were only going to give us one order of crab Rangoon's. Now when you pay to have delivery it's not my problem when the foods bad to bring it back up. So over 10 dollars in frozen vegetables and pieces of whatever that so called chicken is they serve they lost a long life customer. Hope that 10 dollars was worth the review...
Read moreThis is a couple of years old, but, after reading the Yelp reviews, I think this might help other Riverviewers out..... I Ordered delivery. They made a couple of minor mistakes on the order. The real problem was the quality of the food. It was HORRIBLE. It was all fried dough....the spring roll was a rotten piece of lettuce surrounded by dough, the chicken was this tiny piece of chicken surrounded by about 3/4" of fried dough. Also, nothing was prepared correctly. My General Tso's chicken was a container full of fried dough with some sweet and sour sauce poured over the chicken. It was all really bad.
I called the manager and talked to him about it. He didn't care. At any rate, that was the first time and the last time I will ever order food from...
