There was 1 or 2 tiny little morsels of steak on what is supposed to be a steak sandwich. Just because it's an UBER Eats BOGO promo doesn't mean they have to take all the meat off the sandwich. I'd rather pay full price and get a proper portion. These had less than 1 oz of meat on it. PICS DONT LIE. I must say that the flavor is delicious. We also ordered the arepas with meat (paid full price) and they were very tasty. We ended up "stealing" meat off the arepas to help fill the sandwich. This restaurant could be one of my favorites but too many restaurants including this one use Uber Eats promos to mislead & overcharge. This steak sandwich for example is only $17 in the restaurant. On UBER they raise the price to $23. I understand the need for changing prices. But if you're going to offer a BOGO you need to provide the same sandwich that you would provide if I was paying full price. Otherwise it's not a promo, it's a rip-off of your customers. Response to owner: the package arrived sealed and the sandwich was also sealed together by the melted cheese. I am very confident the Uber driver did not touch it. I would also think its impossible to receive an oder like that but thats exactly what happened. In fairness the arepas, were overloaded with meat to the extent that we were able to use some of that meat to put in the Sandwich. But the honest truth is that a single arepa had more meat than both sandwiches combined and that was shocking to me. That's why I decided to write the review and take those pictures. It seems the owner's response is more about deflecting and not accepting responsibility by trying to blame the Uber driver or insinuating that I altered the sandwich for the picture as opposed to apologizing and trying to correct the issue. The picture shows exactly how I receive both sandwiches and the owner should be embarrassed

I pulled into this gas station along with a car wash behind. I really needed to give my Subie some attention. I paid $40 to have the guys wash my car. I was in line, told it would be around a half hour. Being a hungry carnivore, I walked behind the car wash and gas station. The place is a tree shaded open space with like six picnic tables with benches scattered among the oak trunks. You know, barbecue style. The kitchen is a food truck. You choose your preferred grilled meat, then give your order to someone at the window. There was one guy running the operation. Ello no peekee inglee. The menu is bilingual. I ordered the combination plate, with a pile of gray, cut up pieces of meat (maybe beef?), a solitary rib and a sausage cut in Hasselback style. Grilled it may have been, but smoked? I didn't smell smoke anywhere around the place. Not much in the way I was expecting in wood fired food. The gray meat was tough and gristly. The sausage was good, commercial grade. The rib was juicy, fatty and meaty. Maybe because there was a part of a second rib bone attached. None of it was salted, or seasoned at all. Flavored only by the char from the grill. The three pieces of cheese were fine. Melted in my fingers. The platanos maduros (sweet banana) were fine, nothing special. The green sauce was an example of something looking promising, but broke that promise. Flavorless. I was filled up by all of the food, for sure, but paid too much for it.

Here's my review for Carne En Vara Express: "I'm obsessed with Carne En Vara Express! As a meat lover, I've tried many places around the area, but this one takes the cake. The quality of their carne en vara (grilled meat) is top-notch, and the flavors are incredibly rich. The service is also exceptional - the staff is friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Whether you're a meat enthusiast or just looking for a quick, delicious meal, Carne En Vara Express is a must-try. I'll be back again and again!" *Pros:* - High-quality meats - Rich flavors - Generous portions - Reasonable prices - Excellent service - Authentic latin-style grilled meats *Cons:* None! *Recommended for:* Meat lovers, quick meals, a must try for food enthusiasts.
