Carvel — Restaurant in Florida

Stay away from this place. The girl behind the counter with dark hair and glasses treated us terribly and the owner with white hair is absolutely horrible. My daughter was crying because she accidentally told my husband she wanted chocolate swirl but she did'nt know that meant half vanilla. The girl seemed nice when she said dont cry I can "switch it out for you" so I threw her cone away and then when I went to pay she charged me for two. She had acted like she was switching it out no charge! But no she said well she already ate some and its your husbands fault not mine...well she shouldnt have worded it that way! She tricked me instead of saying up front I can make you a new one but I'd have to charge you. She was so fake. When the owner came over I thought he was going to say dont worry about it but then he was so rude and made a weird gesture sticking his tongue out saying well we cant take it back when she put her tongue on it. Well then the girl should have said that before she made a new cone for my daughter that she would have to charge me for two instead of acring like she was "switching it out" her exact words. When I tried to explain this to the owner how the girl misled me he could care less. He was insisting that I had to pay even after I said look she's a little kid. She said swirl by mistake she didnt know what that meant and your employee shouldnt have said I'll switch it. This was the worst customer service I've ever seen. These people don't care about their customers at all. He made my daughter feel so bad its really sad that he cares more about $3 than keeping customers. And now that I've read so many other reviews about how terrible he's treated others, I wanted to make sure everyone knows how mean this guy is. And the funny thing is we were celebrating a dance performance for my daughters in Wellington and my husband said lets go to the Royal Palm Carvel and I said no lets head home and give our business to our neighborhood Carvel. Went with my family against our better judgement because last time we went my grandson was served ice cream with hair in it and when showed the owner he said no hair in it. So we gave the store another chance today. The owner was there and I ordered a kids cone with vanilla soft serve with chocolate sprinkles. He gave me a kids cup with maybe a teaspoon of chocolate sprinkles. I told him I wanted it in a cone he basically threw the cone at me no gloves on no hat or hair net. He proceeded to say I said cup. Then my friend ordered a cup with chocolate sprinkles and he gave her rainbow sprinkles and when she said she said chocolate he said no she said colored! Maybe he should repeat the order. My other friend orders a thick shake and was handed the cup with ice cream pouring down the side of the cup. No offer to remake any order or apology saying he got the orders wrong. My daughter who is the one who wanted the ice cream didn’t even order since he messed up 3 orders. Won’t be returning and letting our friends know. Tonight my brother in law and sister in law took my wife and I to Carvel. Being from the Pacific Northwest, I have never experienced Carvel before and tonight, I was not disappointed.

My sister in law hyped up Carvel pretty good so I was excited. There was a delicious smell that consumes you as you walk into the store. However, the set up was pretty weird. For it being a small store, they had tables near the area you order your ice cream at and it made it difficult to get to the “order here” area with other customers in the store. This was the biggest downside of our trip.

I ordered a thick chocolate shake with a vanilla ice cream float. The vanilla float was delicious and my favorite part of the dessert. My wife got a small chocolate/vanilla swirl in a cup with chocolate sauce and sprinkles. She enjoyed hers as she quickly finished her frosty treat.
