Delicias de España #2, is back!!! The restaurant quality slipped during and after covid, but appears to be back to excellent --- so, don't be dismayed by some of the older reviews. I suspect that competition from the upstart Cala Millor (see below) has been motivational. Delicias de España #2 is a modest strip mall restaurant with a substantial European Spanish grocery section and an excellent, and usually very busy, bakery. More specifically, Delicias de España #2 is dominantly Asturian/Galician Spanish. That's a good thing --- because it includes many wonderful dishes you won't see in typical "Spanish" restaurants, and is very distinct from other "Latin/Hispanic" restaurants in South Florida. I strongly suggest sticking to the (substantial variety) of daily specials, which do indeed change daily. For breakfast or lunch at Delicias de España, I recommend scrambled eggs with Serrano ham mixed-in (Serrano ham resembles lean prosciutto); Spanish omelette (actually a sliced-potato dish, cemented with egg, and optionally with Serrano ham); garbanzo soup; ham and cheese (i.e., Serrano ham and Manchego cheese) bocadillos (sub sandwiches); and huevos a la flamenca (an egg and stewed tomato dish with Serrano ham -- much more delicious than it sounds) -- formerly delivered flaming to your table, where you'd have to wait for it to finish cooking. You can also get genuine churros and hot chocolate (from frozen churros, but well prepared). Except for the Spanish omelette and sub sandwiches, you won't find these at Cala Millor, at least not yet. If you've heard great things about Delicias de España #1, (formerly located about 1 mile east of #2; at Bird and Red road --- sadly it was gutted by a fire several years ago; and has just recently reopened under different management, as Cala Millor. By virtue of size and location Delicias de España #1 was always a step more upscale than the more working-class #2; and Cala Millor is a step more upscale than Delicias de España #1 was. Cala Millor is clearly cashing in on the reputation of the former Delicias de España #1 --- at the same physical location; using the same formula: European Spanish restaurant, bakery, and groceries --- albeit the grocery section is much smaller (more of a display than a grocery section --- I expect it to disappear entirely to make room for more tables in the next few months). Cala Millor is not specifically Asturian/Galician, but is more "gourmet" and "fusion" (their words---words which I usually find repellent, perceiving the words as synonyms for "trendy" rather than quality). However, Cala Millor is simply superb, in terms of food quality, service, and ambiance. Albeit, at approximately twice the price of Delicias de España for a comparable meal. The more upscale service and ambiance makes Cala Millor the better choice for a special meal or a first date. Delicias de España #2 remains my choice for Spanish groceries and comfort food. Delicias de España #3 (in Dadeland, behind the Publix) is intermediate between Cala Millor and Delicias de España #2 in terms of ambiance, but parking is challenging --- most patrons live or work in the immediate area. Other telling comparisons: You can buy frozen tripe in the grocery section at Delicias de España, but, of course, never in a million years at Cala Millor. We often (intentionally) over-order and request "go" containers at Delicias de España, but a waiter at Cala Millor would probably be offended by such a request (albeit additional "take out" orders are appreciated). For me, at least, Delicias de España is comforting --- Cala Millor is adventurous. The "comfort" has nothing to do with heritage --- I am not of Spanish heritage. It has more to do with rich familiar flavors and reliability --- a favorite treat that I can anticipate, knowing exactly what I will get, and being pleased...

The Food – Simply Outstanding!
Every dish here is a celebration of Spain's rich culinary heritage. The paella is an absolute masterpiece, with perfectly cooked rice, a medley of fresh seafood, and just the right balance of spices. It’s the kind of paella that takes you straight to Valencia, where the dish originated.
Their tapas selection is extensive, and each bite bursts with authenticity. The patatas bravas are crispy and golden, topped with a smoky, flavorful sauce, and the croquetas de jamón are crispy on the outside and oozy with savory goodness on the inside. Every plate is beautifully crafted, and it’s clear the chefs use only the freshest ingredients.
Don’t even get me started on the desserts. The tarta de Santiago (almond cake) is the perfect sweet ending to any meal here—dense, nutty, and with just the right amount of sweetness. And their churros? You won’t find a better version in Miami. Crispy, light, and served with rich chocolate dipping sauce that’s heavenly.

Read moreDios mio! If You're a fan of Spanish food or are just curious, this is the place to go. Of course the great food brought back memories, but even if you've never been to Spain, you owe it to yourself to try it. You don't need to acquire a taste, it's not spicy, you can easily enjoy this food the very first time you try it. It's often flavored with garlic & Olive oil, only the best olive oil in the world is used. Spanish olive oil of course. Fresh potato salad that is out of this world. It's got a little bit of a different taste than you'd expect from American potato salad, but the flavors are subdued, yet sublime. It's simply called Spanish Potato Salad. It's a winner. The bread is the Best I can remember having. If I could have bread this darn delicious delivered to my door everyday, wow, that would be something. This isn't your chain restaurant bread, this bread has never been frozen, trucked across the country and heated in a microwave. It's the real stuff, mixed and baked in the premises. Next I had a variation of Paella; of which they have many to suit your taste. It was the daily special and the price was reasonable, on everything actually. The setting and tables are simple, but the store & restaurant are loaded with things to attract your eye. Restaurant service is impeccable. A great place for lunch, or anytime. The attached store has anything you could want from Spain; from huge paelleras (and small ones for your stovetop), olive oil decanters, delicacies, and our favorite, canned mackeral (Caballa). This fish leaves any high end tuna in a distant 2nd place. Flaked and served with tomatoes, onions, a good olive oil, and lightly sprinkled with sea salt, it makes a fantastic late night snack. Mixed in with potato salad turns it into something extra special. Beers, wines, olive oils, chorizos, olives, salchichon, Christmas sweets, etc. If it's found in Spain you can find it here. First and foremost for me is the wonderful and varied restaurant menu. A fantastic place for lunch. And if it's too far for you, they have an online store. You can't...
