Sad to say very disappointed. I was worried about using a place I didn't know, but considering I was ordering from out of state for a wedding we were coming to Florida to do, I had no choice but to just trust the recommendation I had gotten. I ordered my cake (nothing crazy) MONTHS in advance. I was asaured by I believe it was Jessica that everything would be fine, taken care of etc. About 2 weeks before the day we were to pick-up the cake, my card was charged. Ok, I figured that meant they remembered and all was good. I get there to pick up my cake, and after 30 min's of them looking, it was no where to be found. Whatever, she says if we can wait she can make it because it's an easy cake. I don't see how she can make it in 20 minutes, but ok. Another half hour later she comes out with this cake that vaguely looks like what I wanted, fake flowers because NOW she tells me they don't do REAL flowers (which is not what I was told on the phone) and a box that doesn't close. Ok whatever, lets just go because we're getting married tomorrow. Fast forward after we get married. We eat the cake and ugh, it was terrible. Smh. The topping which was supposed to be buttercream, was more like fondant (which we HATE) was SO sweet and flavorless it was gross. The cake was dry and seemed stale with not a good flavor as well. The what was supposed to be dulce de leche filling, DID NOT taste like dulce de leche at all. It was just all sweet for nothing. We took a couple of bites and the whole thing went in the garbage because NO ONE else not even our kids wanted to eat it. Which says a lot because our kids normally eat any cake or sweets they can get. I hate to write a review like this but this was no bueno from the 1st step in :-'( We had such great expectations but it ended up being a total let down. Oh, and on top of it, she tells me that she sees my order but not that it was paid smh. Thank God I was able to bring it...
Read morePlease save yourself a disappointment and look for a different place to order a small cake with a design for your birthday. My husband had a good intention and ordered me a small cake for my birthday with a Chanel design, and the cake looks nothing like I would have expected (no quilts, color is pink, no CC, no Chanel written, no chain, handbag nothing!) just a plain pink diamond pattern cake that you can find on their website with the name PINK CHANNEL 😂. Then he made his second mistake by calling and adding two black numbers as toppers and they sent me two cardboard numbers and charged him $12.00 extra dollars. My mother went to pick up my cake as my husband is away for business, and they gave her the cake in a smaller box so it would not close. They also told her not to put the cake under lights because it will discolored and not to refrigerate the cake???? My mother even said, but how is that possible if we are not cutting the cake today and we need to refrigerate it, and she repeated herself not to do so. Finally, we decided just to cut the cake early and be done with it, and the taste was worse than the design on it. Cake was not moisten, very dry and not flavored at all, a cake from Whole Foods or any other supermarket would have been better. Of course I knew not to expect the vanilla rum, marble, pineapple or any other flavored cakes they do for parties or weddings but I wasn’t expecting anything this dry and untasted. If you are looking for an upscale design for a small family cake, you have other and better options out there, do your research/diligence and find other places that will work with your ideas and needs much better. I used to buy my daughter’s Hello Kitty and other designed birthday cakes with them years ago, unfortunately, I think this place is not what...
Read moreI have been a client of Edda's Cake Designs for 30 years. I can look back at every special occasion in the life of my family, and a cake from Edda's Cake Designs has always been a part of the celebration.
When I walk into the store, I simply love all of the sample cakes that adorn the space. I like to receive inspiration from the samples on the sales boutique as well as the albums that they have. I love going through the albums by theme and selecting the cake that fits the mood of my particular party.
I recently visited for the millionth time for my son's 26th birthday, I had not ordered a cake, but I knew that they always have small cakes available for walk-ins that did not plan ahead, just like me... I love the fact that there are ladies in this location that have been working there for many years, and know the ins and outs of getting just the right cake for the occasion. I selected a classic ballon rum cake, and even though I do not drink alchohol, I have been assured that this rum cake does not have any actual alchohol since the rum gets evaporated and only the taste remains.
I went home and after a delightful dinner, I served the very anticipated cake from Edda. The reaction from my kids, husband and parents was the same exact reaction that I have witnessed for the past 3 decades. First, silence... then mmmmmmm's start to come out of each one of them making a song that we all know too well. Just thinking about this decadent delight makes we want to run out, beat traffic, and get one for tonight's dessert!
I anticipate the next family celebration so that we can once again enjoy a slice of this delightful rum cake.
Needless to say, this place is a keeper! Five stars is too small of a...
