Update 9/14/2023: After several more visits to Foxboro I have to downgrade my prior rating. I have been in twice with one friend and with multiple friends where the service was simply awful, and the food was middling to mediocre. People are smoking right outside the front door leaving you to walk through a cloud of cigarette smoke to enter the restaurant. They seem to cater mostly to locals who are loud boisterous and oftentimes vulgar. On our latest visit there were people in the kitchen and behind the bar who weren't even employees, including a gentleman with long hair and a very long beard wearing a hat and drinking out of his Yeti, standing in the kitchen talking to the staff. Just wasn't a very enjoyable or pleasant experience on either occasion.
I very much wanted to give Foxboro a five-star review. I stopped in for dinner on December 21st after having been here for lunch two to three times. The service at the bar was exemplary, the menu is really, really good, and I thought the drink prices were reasonable.
I ordered the zucchini appetizer. My only comment is that the zucchini is cut lengthwise, and is very thick, and it takes about 6 to 7 minutes for it to cool down to the temperature of lava so that you can take a bite. Just depends on how many blisters you want in the morning for how quickly you choose to eat it. It was very good, and there was plenty of it.
I ordered the pot roast as the entree. While it was satisfying it was also lacking in a few areas. It comes out looking like the Exxon Valdez crashed into the plate. Just a very dark brown lumpy plate. I might brighten it up with a few peas on top, and perhaps just a few pieces of lightly sauteed carrots to give it color. It was good but generally overcooked to make sure the celery and all the ingredients were done completely. Again, really nice portion and a very fair price for what was offered. I was satisfied.
My main criticism comes from the fact that there are a lot of regulars that come here, and as the name would imply, many of them are from New England. And they're not shy retiring types. I might stay away if I was bringing teenagers or my grandmother for dinner. People seem very comfortable screaming out alternative lyrics as songs are playing, and yelling out crude jokes across the room. As an example, a group yelled to another one: "Did you hear Lorena Bobbitt got remarried to a Russian? Her last name is now cutyourcockoff." This sort of banter went on my entire hour and 15 minutes there. If you want to quiet dinner I'm not sure this is the location.
I enjoyed the food, the drink, and started counting TVs and was surprised to get up to 35+. Quite the venue to watch a ball game or two. I just don't like it when customers think they are the entertainment and management caters to them versus the general customer.
However, I...
Read moreI wish I could leave less than one star. The kitchen closes at 9 so they stop taking food orders at 830.I walked in barely before 830 and they told me kitchen was only making wings and fries. The menu states Market Price for chicken wings so I had asked what Market Price was. I drove 3 hours after getting off of work so I was hungry. 8 wings was like $14, 12 wings was $20, so I went with 12. The first batch came out undercooked and red inside. They went back. The second batch were just ok, nothing fantastic. I was hungry, I ate them. The bill came and it said $23 for the wings. I questioned the beerwench and she stated that the menu states ranch or blue cheese is an additional $3. Obviously I missed that part. But when I requested blue cheese, she shouldâve stated there was an up charge. Now Iâve been in the service industry for as long as I can remember. I know my portions. My $3 blue cheese came in a 4oz soufflĂ© cup but was barely a 2 ounce portion. The wings werenât hot and was mediocre at best. My receipt should at least reflect the actual price of my wings and blue cheese. Instead it only reflects the cost of my wings being $23. I honestly felt duped and deceived after reviewing my bill. Thatâs not a feeling you want to have at a restaurant. I will never step foot in that place. The owner Thom has received my last dollar for their terrible service and food. If youâre looking for good food do not go here. The quality of staff, service and food has gone done in the 20 years theyâve been open. Which is very sad. They used to be such a top notch place. I am a Naples native, everyone always met there after games and on weekends to watch Boston sports games and have a good time. Not anymore. If you want good food keep going maybe 4 miles south to Collier Blvd & East Tamiami Trail. At least thereâs Millers Ale House, Texas Roadhouse, Outback Steakhouse and many other options for good...
Read moreSoooo i came her last night all excited with my friend who's from Boston and never been. As soon as we walked in she fell in love w the atmosphere! I just wish she felt the same way about the food and service. We each ordered house salad & asked instead of cucumbers and carrots just sprinkle some cheese on top and side of itailan dressing. Salad arrives, looks delicious I pour my dressing, mix it up and as I'm trying to chew I'm also trying to figure out if I just poured Italian dressing or OIL all over my salad because it was drenched with oil, I could tatse it! I know what Italian dressing is, come on! Either they ran out and thought they could save it by adding oil or she truly gave me freakin oil for dressing. So already upset w that we get wings my frinds irder if wings weren't done right and the fact that our super irritated server at least she seememd to be irritated bout something since she would walk up and at any question ir request ooen he eyes wide and hen cut them short and say ok and walk away, liys of side chatter w the table next to us, not sure if she knew them but it was weirs. Funny how she was constantly quick & rushy to leave always as soon as we start talking not letting us finish our sentence but walked up and greeted us 15mins after waiting to see who our server was in the 1st place. Look overall we had a not so great experience, manager came and he was not much help although he thought he was and he was even defending his server, stated how she was new and the problem has to do w training that they will address.. Who says that??? Lol anyhow the wings are always great here as far as service?? Well you might have to call and ask, reserve a good server if you know one! I haven't been here in awhile but next time i know to sit at the bar, lol i know a guy;) well Foxboro good luck in your next server training class be sure to add professional hospitality...
