2 Stars For this Review Pass on the Sopa Azteca My wife and I stopped in for some lunch and I tried their Sopa Azteca soup. When you first sit down, they bring complimentary chips and salsa to the table which they will refill when asked. The salsa must be homemade as it tastes fresh and is addictive. The soup is a Mexican style chicken soup. A chicken base broth, shredded chicken, rice, shredded cheese, a spoonful of pico de gallo and a few slices of avocado with sprigs of cilantro. It was just chicken soup and the pico added some flavor pops. I really like soups and this is one was ok at best for me and I think is way overpriced at $14.00. My wife always orders off the A La Carte menu and has always enjoyed the tacos, enchiladas and chili rellenos. 5 Stars for This Review Very Good Mexican Food! We've passed by this place numerous times and tried it out the other day for lunch. Our friendly server greeted us quickly and took our drink order. My wife had a Iced Tea ($3.00) and I ordered a Modelo Michelada ($10.00 for a 32 ouncer). The iced tea was excellent and definitely fresh brewed. My Michelada was perfect. I think the tomato part was some blend of juices, not just tomato juice. The glass was rimmed with tajin and a lime wedge. I enjoy taking a lick of the tajin then a sip of the beer mix. A complimentary basket of warm tortilla chips and a wonderfully fresh tasting salsa were brought to the table quickly as we studied the fairly extensive menu. Our server gladly restocked both the chips and salsa when ours ran low. I had noticed a sign by the front door showing that Menudo ($18.00) was a special that day so I ordered that. My wife went with a few ala carte items - Chille Relleno with Ground Beef ($4.00), Soft Shell Chicken Taco ($3.50) and a Pork Tamale ($4.00). I have tried many Menudos since living for a short time in southern Arizona last winter and this one was a bit different, but tasty. If you haven't been brought up with Menudo, you will either like it or totally dislike it. The main ingredient in culinary verbiage is beef tripe, or as us commoners would call it - cows stomach lining. It is cut into smaller pieces and braised for many hours in broth. Nothing else that I have ever had is quite like it. It is a little 'barnyardy' with an earthy flavor. Not off putting, but not a common flavor. It's tender with just a little chew. The broth was darker than others I've had, probably made from roasted bones. This soup had a nice hunk of pork trotter (pigs foot) in it which I enjoyed. Their soup did not have hominy which is a form of corn kernel. The soup is accompanied with a plate of chopped cilantro, lime wedges and slices of fresh jalapenos to be added to the soup as you like. I added all of the lime and cilantro with just a little jalapeno as it was a pretty zippy one. This is a large bowl of soup that could easily be shared by two. I ate all the good stuff and left a bit of broth. I'm glad I tried it. My wife's ala carte items were the largest we've seen. The taco was served as a flat corn tortilla piled high with shredded chicken, lettuce and cheese making it a challenge to fold and eat. The chille relleno appeared to be two chilies split and stuffed with lots of seasoned ground beef, topped with melted cheese. There is no doubt this was the largest tamale ever with no skimping on the flavorful pork filling and tasty masa and the ranchero type sauce with cheese topping made it even better. My wife enjoyed every bite and brought half of each home. We will certainly go back.

Never ate here before. With that said I lived in Cape Coral for five years prior to moving back to New Jersey this place did not exist. One of my local haunts closed up during this covid-19 ever here in Cape Coral. For anybody in the Cape Coral North Fort Myers area this is a gem. The cocktail Cameroon was absolutely delicious and there were so many Gulf Shrimp in there was unbelievable for the price. The Super Nachos the beef the chicken everything taste like fajitas on top of nacho chips was tremendous. The bean and queso dip was also delicious. Has for entrees the mistake Island Mexicana was super and the white enchiladas where are insanely delicious. You will not go broke at this place. I did not take a picture of all the food that we order but there were four drinks in this and it was only $100. As you can see the Pina Colada wasn't too shabby either. So again if you're in Cape Coral area and you don't mind traveling 20 to 25 minutes depending on where you are this is a beautiful place clean nice atmosphere so it's even better then that the food was excellent and the service was just as good which is hard to find.

We were just there for lunch but couldn’t eat after being burned by an extremely hot plate and the server did not say it was hot. She placed it on the edge of the table and when I went to move it more on the table I burned my hands. We asked for the manager who was our server and when we asked for the owners name he refused. The plate was literally out of the oven but we were never advised. My husband’s plate was just as hot. When my husband told the manager he said he would tell the server. Didn’t offer any assistance for my burned hands and tried to charge us for drinks he just delivered which we didn’t drink. Then told us “we could leave without paying.” We had one drink each which we were willing to pay for. No customer service! No care for me being burned at their restaurant! NO ONE OFFERED TO ASSIST ME IN ANY WAY!!!! In all of my years in management, I have never seen anything like this. Customer service is first especially when someone is hurt.

I've enjoyed this restaurant many times in the past. And on Sunday May 27th, I was excited to be taking my boyfriend for his first experience of Habeneros! BIG mistake! The first thing I noticed was the salsa had a slight metallic taste and the chips weren't quite as fresh as usual. I chalked it up to the recent downpours, the brush of the tropical storm we had experienced the previous couple of days and the probable light traffic the restaurant had experienced. But I never expected the salsa to be tainted! My boyfriend was the first to get ill, only slightly and was unable to finish his meal. But he hadn't eaten much salsa. I had consumed much more. Once I got home the cold chills and nausea struck me. Thankfully it didn't seem to be a case of full fledged food poisoning but more like food stored improperly. I'm guessing, because of the metallic taste, the salsa or the tomatoes used to make it, were stored overnight in the can, something that should NEVER happen since acid in tomatoes interacts with metal negatively.

I have been a regular patron of Habeneros for the past couple of years. Needless to say, I will NEVER return! I've taken every out of town visitor of mine there, told numerous people how wonderful they are...Now I will be as outspoken with my condemnation as I was previously with my praise and recommendation. Do NOT eat there if you value your health!

Management may feel free to contact me at the email address registered here if they desire further...

Ordered from door dash, 5 meals, as well as 4 cheese dips ($4 a piece) and a side of rice. Due to ordering here before, I specifically entered a request for enough chips for the 4 dips, as 5 adults were eating, and barely got any last time. Total order was over $100. Food arrived with one small, not even close to full bag of chips. I called the restaurant hoping this was an oversight. I was told you have to pay extra for chips and salsa. I said there is no option to order chips or salsa when buying online. I understood your not going to get several bags of chips when ordering meals, but I bought 4 cheese dips and it does not make any sense you would not get chips when you buy cheese dip. Everyone knows chips go hand in hand with dip. I was told they do not give chips away for free, would have to call them directly and order to ensure I paid for the chips also and pick it up, or eat inside. If you eat inside you get unlimited chips and salsa. Regardless, I have almost 20 in cheese dip and some very upset people in my house. Restaurant did not care, nor try to make this right. It's not like I ordered a taco and was asking for bags of chips and salsa. I would not have any issue letting this go and not leaving a negative review, but did not receive any decent customer service when called either, so, I will let friends and family know to eat...
