I’d like to start off by saying, my husband and I are a black couple, over 6ft, both with locs. I understand that we intimidate people just from our looks but to be outright disrespected was beyond me. It started off as a great visit. We walked in around 3:30 in hopes of getting the lane for the hour but were told we would only get 30 minutes and would have to pay again at the new rate beginning at 4:00. We decided to eat and play games instead. We sat at the corner of the bar, away from everyone. My husband ordered a plain burger - they told him they would give him the pickle chips and they had ketchup and mustard. I ordered a Salmon Caesar salad and some chicken tenders. We also ordered drinks since happy hour was at 3:50. By the time I was ready to order it was 3:46. I told the girl I would wait to get my order so that we could have happy hour prices. She said she would make our drinks and ring it up at the right time. We got our drinks and decided to play while we waited for our food. We covered our drinks and walked off. We went to play games and two of the machines we tried first didn’t work so we continued on our way. We played basketball which had worn basketballs that were either pumped too much or had little to no air. Balls were stuck in machines as well. As we continued to make our rounds in the game area, I noticed someone sitting extremely close to our drinks. Upon our return, there was another party sitting in our seats over our drinks. I’m assuming because THEY were the regulars, we were booted out of our seats. So I moved our items down the bar and sat down. Our food comes out and my husband immediately notices that there is a loaded burger in front of him. He tells them that he asked for a PLAIN burger with only ketchup mustard and pickles. They took the burger back, the new waitress / bartender comes back and says it will be 4 minutes. They returned the SAME burger that had cheese and other condiments on it, but removed the ingredients that were not supposed to be there. There was still cheese remaining on the burger because they didn’t take it all off. We sent it back AGAIN. And asked for the manager. A woman named Rose walked over and just stands there in our face and doesn’t say anything as if we were supposed to acknowledge her. She finally says “hi” instead of acknowledging what the issue was and apologizing. He then tells her the issue about the same burger being returned after it had all the condiments it wasn’t supposed to have. That burger should have been destroyed because it left the kitchen and the customer had put his hands on it. Instead it was placed BACK on the grill where other peoples food was to be cooked and she doesn’t see a problem, but said she could fix it by having the burger remade, mind you - she is the same person that brought the burger out after it was sent back with cheese so she was WELL aware of how it was “fixed” the first time. She got defensive after my husband continued to express his concern. WE STILL DECIDED TO STAY AND EAT; which was our fault because we should have known how disrespectful they were. Fast-forward, we are finished and ready to go. Another regular was hollering at the bartender and throws something at her while she is counting money. At this point we ask for the check. We were charged double for our drinks, and they still charged him for the full price of the burger after the mess up. I told my husband I didn’t want to make a big deal I would just pay and leave because he didn’t want to pay so I knew his wallet wouldn’t leave his pocket. I didn’t leave a tip. But we still were stuck waiting because he had to ask 3 times for a box in which they did other things instead of getting his box so we could leave. It was a complete disappointment for 85.00. We got 2 strawberry margaritas along with the aforementioned items. $85 was outrageous for that behavior and service. We were even more displeased with the fact that the manager had the audacity to have an attitude with us when they were the ones who messed up. ITS...
Read morePoor service. In my time in Tallahassee, I've grown accustomed to wonderful service throughout town. Tonight was a marked exception.
It started with bowling. We reserved a lane for an hour. Halfway through our game and time, the computers malfunctioned. We were told that the computers would need to be restarted to fix the malfunction and our existing scores would be lost. To compensate, we were promised "a few extra minutes" of time. I contested that a few extra minutes would not be sufficient to complete a new game, let alone the inconvenience of having our previous scores wiped clean (we were having a nice contest!). After failing to fix our lane, we were given a new lane and 40 minutes (effectively, the time we had remaining + 10 minutes). The representative said "that is enough time to finish a game. If you can't, that's up to you." Now, our party included 2 small children, 2 seniors, and myself. So, no, I don't believe that's sufficient time. Fortunately, our smallest child decided to quit at that point leaving a party of 4. The rest of us each used 2 balls, using the second ball while the first ball was in the ball return. We ordered no food or drink and focused on bowling as quickly as possible. Even with these measures, we finished with 1 minute to spare. Suffice it to say, we were none to pleased about having to rush and for the inconvenience of having to start over.
Trying to put the rushed game behind us, we then dined at the restaurant. My wife (who decided not to bowl) fetched a table and put in our orders while we finished our game. When the rest of us joined her, we waited at the table for at least 20 minutes to put in drink orders. Finally, we gave up waiting and took to the bar to order drinks. (On a positive note, the bartender was as prompt as possible and didn't charge me for half a beer that was left in a keg that got tapped.) The meal itself was fine, as were the drinks. I promised my kids dessert for finishing their meals. Unfortunately, this entailed another long wait to 1) order, and 2) receive the dessert. I took the kids to play games while we waited. A good thing too, because it took at least 30 minutes to get dessert. At that point, we were very ready for the check. Being quite done with waiting, I flagged down the waitress (I did not trust that she would check on us in a timely manner). She herself was pleasant and apologetic about the wait. But all of the wait time put a real damper on things.
The long waits at the meal itself would probably not be enough for me to write a negative review. The holidays are a busy time after all. But I really am quite miffed at the bowling incident. The staff needs to understand that losing existing scores is an inconvenience and that time is thus not interchangeable. Computer malfunctions happen, I get it, but the staff needs to be prepared to compensate appropriately. We waited 30 minutes to get a lane in the first place. The experience should be worth the wait and cost. Tonight, it certainly was not. We do not...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place. Tallahassee needs more entertainment spots, but I don’t know if this place is it.
Upon arrival, our party of 4 was told the wait was going to be about 35 mins to sit and eat. We asked how long it would be for bowling, and were told the wait would be about 2 hours. We decided to wait to get a table, which wound up being being an hour wait. I was called on my cellphone while sitting right outside in the seating area, and the music was so loud inside the hostess couldn’t hear me, but I just stayed on the phone until I got to the hostess stand. Once we got there, we were told they seated another party right in front of us so we didn’t have a table. I asked how long the bowling wait time was again to see if we could at least start there, but were told it was still a 2 hour wait. After waiting another 10 mins for our table, I asked the hostess how much longer it would be, to which she then claimed she had originally called me twice for my table and I never picked up, which was untrue and I showed her my phone screen with the one phone call I received and picked up the first time.
At this point, I asked for a manager to share my situation and we were pretty much ready to leave. We stepped outside to talk because it was too loud to hear inside. He cut us off in the middle of our explanation and seated us immediately as a solution.
I’d like to note that we were never told before being seated we could go get drinks from the bar and start playing the arcade games immediately without ordering food, which is what we wanted to do in the first place.
We ordered two appetizers: the Bermuda Triangle and the Sliders Trio. The wings, flatbread and chimichurri slider were good. The burger slider was undercooked, the ribs and the pork slider were dry.
My only pros: Our waitress once we were was very polite and attentive. The games were fun once we actually got around to playing, and weren’t insanely expensive.
My suggestion: if you’re planning on eating, call ahead for a table. If not, just head straight to the bar, then load up your cards and start playing. I wouldn’t even try to bowl, since the wait never went under 2 hours. Stay away from the tables in the front when you first walk in, because the music is so insanely loud you have to scream to have a conversation.
Overall, this place is super unorganized and I don’t think the staff is experienced enough to handle the large crowds. We got there at 8:45 on a Saturday expecting it to be busy, but not all over the place like it was.
Maybe it’ll get better after a few months, but I’m...
