I am severely disappointed in not only the food, but the ownership/management as well. As someone who loves wings, I’ve had some great wings from Hurricanes in the past, however this one experience has made me abhorrently nauseous. I ordered quite a bit in expectation of greatness that I had previously experienced. I was told by the voice on the phone to come in about 30 minutes and wait in the parking lot and someone would come out to complete my order (sign my cc slip for the card that I had given over The phone) and hand me my food. That was the expectation that was set by the staff but here was the reality: I went to the restaurant and arrived 40 minutes after my order was placed and sat in the car for another ten minutes without being addressed by the people who were inside. 2 other cars pulled in. They got out of their cars and went up to the window and began to converse through the window with the people inside. I saw them both hand cards into the window to pay for their orders most likely, and I decided to follow their lead. As I get to the window (another 10 minutes of waiting for the other people to finish) I ask the person inside what the protocol was on picking up already paid for orders. They explained that I would have to sign for my purchase and then they would bring the food out. So I complied with that directive. I went back to my car and waited another 15-30 minutes as I watched the other two cars who arrived after me, have their food delivered to their cars. A third customer showed up at this point and went up to the window and received his order immediately, and that’s when I Revised my plan and went back to the window to see why my food was taking so long. They told me that they were waiting on the wings.... which I know one of the 3 customers Who had cut me in line had received because I heard their orders being confirmed by the employee who brought that food out. Finally, after another 5-10 minutes or waiting (for a total of nearly 1:20-1:35 waiting time since I ordered my food) they brought my large bag out to me. Knowing that something was awry due to the delay, I investigated the bag delivered to me.... OF COURSE THE WINGS WERE NEARLY SAUCELESS AND THE SANDWICH THAT I ORDERED WAS COLD AFTER BEING OVERCOOKED. I complained to the deliverer about the order being inexcusably not worth the money I paid for it and I asked for a refund. They took the bag back and said they would have the owner/manager refund the money the next day since that person was not there currently. I contacted the owner/management 8 times. 5 calls and 3 in store appearances. When I went into the store they said that the owner who I spoke with on the phone was working on the refund and subsequently she DID PROMISE ME A REFUND ON MULTIPLE PHONE CALLS. On the final call to her she explained to me that she had called her payment processor to assist in returning the transaction to me, and they advised her that she was unable to refund that transaction. FFWD 3 months to today, I called my bank to dispute the transaction and I WILL be finally compensated for this.
Bottom line, the owner told me she would refund the charge, she subsequently lied about it in telling me she couldn’t refund it. I WORK IN THE BANKING AND PAYMENTS INDUSTRY, and any one who has had a BAD EXPERIENCE here AT HURRICANES can dispute the transaction with their card issuing bank or credit card company. Read moreHad the worst experience ever. We came in feeling excited for the new place as we frequent the one by Spiros and are excited to try the new spot. But today was a nightmare. When the server came over and took our drinks..shes like in a hurry and did not even introduced herself. So we never got her name. We placed our orders. We order some Garlic and parmesan Fries for appetizer and 4 firecracker shrimp tacos, 2 korean beef tacos and 2 coconut shrimp taco (.since its taco tuesday day and its 3 plus 1free). While we were waiting for our appetizer, we started talking about trying their cheese cake dessert. 30 minutes passed by no sign of our appetizer coming... our server ignoring us. It took about 40minutes before half of our food came out to our table, and it came out cold. And still no appetizer. Finally after 10 or 15minutes more or so.. the rest of our order finally made it to the table. At this point we felt unwelcomed and aggravated already by the attitude of our server. Not once she came over to check on our food or if we need anything else or apologize for the wait. Or for any mistake in our food. Never apologize instead she blames it on the kitchen. And claims she doesn't know what their doing in the kitchen, why the fries were never made. I just asked to cancel the appetizer as it was way tooooooo late. Then our server immidietly dropped our ticket without even asking if we wanted dessert??? I lost my full appetite. I didn't finish my food' I was just gonna leave and not complain. But when we got our checks got to our table she didn't deduct the tacos that was supposed to be 3 plus 1. I asked for a manager. And she proudly said I am the manager... I can't help but laugh. Honestly I was gonna let her slide and not complain, i thought this must be her first serving experience. As she looks like a newbie in F&B, but she made too many mistakes and I had enough of her attitude and I didn't want a good place to go down because of one BAD SEED. And arrogantly asked me what was wrong. As being our server this whole time she should know the problem. What kind of a manager that doesn't know what the hell is going in the kitchen???? Little did we know, we had just walked into the aftermath of a cockroach being found in someone's food and you could tell something was off with everyone as our waitress dropped the menus and said she'd be right back like she was in the middle of something in the back.. we brushed it off as someone in our party just being weird, but little did we know he was right; we didn't know untill after checking google after we ate, thinking mabye something was off..
We were 3 of about 15 people in the whole restaurant and our server seemed new to waiting tables, as she went to go say something and then said ignore me, which confused all of us. She was very nice and for what seemed like he first week of serving she did great.. nevermind the other sever that gave me to go cups with no lids...
The reason I'm writing this, isn't because of how the food quality has plummeted or the lack of people in the restaurant at 6:45 on a Wednesday, but of what I discovered on the way out..
I invite you to open the door to men's restroom, you don't have to go in, and look up. That's where you'll not only find Mold spores, but spots of Black mold next to the air vent for circulation. Now after finding out, Florida doesn't care about mold, know this as that air is being circulated so is that mold from the restroom. From my experience in restaurants mold happens, but what scares me is Black mold which causes all sorts of problems, right next to an air vent and it's not hiding, in plain sight..
Please if you're reading this Hurricane's, please disinfectant the restroom and get rid of the mold before people get terribly sick!
Sad that such an institution in the area for so long, has declined so much, that'd we could get wings and tenders from Publix for cheaper and without the threat of mold or...
