Sad experience. No other way to describe it. I'm visiting from the Keys (so I truly understand tourist enviornments & food service). I've been here for 10 days moving my parents (80+) to a senior community. We were all EXHAUSTED, but today is my dad's 83rd bday. He wanted to try the restaurant right outside his new home - Iggy's. Our server, Andrea, who we looked to for a great bday experience probably earned the record for the quickest way to ruin a b-day & day. She came to the table to tell us what beers they had (no beer menu) - she begrudingly opened her waiters tablet & said bud light, miller lite, corona light, high life and yuenling(sp?). I said ok, wow....don't you have anything more "fun?", imported, etc. - even a Sam Adams - she said NO, but then she said, i'll ask - came back & said NO - only these beers. My dad asked if they came in sizes & she said yes, pint or tall. We ordered talls. She comes back, puts two beers on the table & said - nope - we only have pints. So.....my "high life" was dark, imported & tasted like a great IPA. I said to her, this isn't a high life - who makes this beer? She went back to the bar (visibly angry at this point) & said Cigar City. I then said, oh, its a Jai Alai, not High Life - she turned around and said "I don't know what it's called - it just starts w/ a "j". I cannot make this up - no offer to get me a different beer, (which I really didn't want - I love Jai Alai beer), just attitude that I didn't know that High Life is the same as Jai Alai!!! Now it's time to order....we order 2 apps & my dad decides to get the signature sandwich - lobster grilled cheese. Remember, my mom & dad are both in their 80's. My mom inquires if the lobster is maine lobster or florida lobster - doesn't really matter, just making conversation w/ Andrea - she responds, as snarky as humanly possible - I HAVE ABSOLUTLEY NO IDEA. My mouth drops - She then proceeds to walk to the kitchen window to "place our order" Andrea puts her waitress pad up next to her mouth, so we can't see what she's saying, & proceeds to tell the two cooks behind the window the HORRIFIC QUESTION MY MOTHER HAS JUST ASKED. I can clearly hear the conversation (to this minute I'm praying my mom & dad didn't clue in) as both cooks (one w/ a died green short mohawk) start laughing loudly & peering out the window to see who would ever ask such a thing. At this point, I am MAD......I don't want to ruin my dad's 83rd bday, but I'm MAD. Again....I've NEVER written a post/review for anything - product or restaurant, but I'm sincerely hopeful that Andrea & the hostess & cooks that she was laughing about us with will someday understand that seniors don't order as quickly & may ask quirky questions. But as seniors who have worked their entire life in the education, deserve respect, not humilation. I really wanted to get my dad a piece of cake & have the servers sing to him, but the experience was beyond repair. I left Andrea, a 15% tip because I thought, maybe she's a student simply having a bad day.....but I sincerely hope she reads this review & can take a moment to think about how actions of others can really affect people. I hope no one has ever ruined her papa's bday the way she...
Read moreI'm sorry, but I can't say anything good about Iggy's Seafood Shack. I had dinner there on Monday, 18 Jan for my birthday with my wife and daughter and I have to say this was horrible. I order the a combo with baked potato and coleslaw. My wife, asked for crab legs, baked potato and coleslaw and my daughter had the bucket with lobster, mussel, potato, corn and shrimp. We order an appetizer of onion rings, which I thought was greasy and they didn't ask if we wanted any ranch, or honey mustard but instead gave us their house sauce. The waitress served my daughter's bucket, we received our coleslaw and was informed that our order will be out shortly. Ten minutes later our order came out, without the baked potatoes. She said it will be out shortly. After my wife and I finished eating, we still didn't have our potato. Needless to say, we never did get our potato. The server seemed very inexperience, the cooks (or whatever they called themselves) didn't know how to prepare the food. The food was not good and it was very overpriced. I had the same items at the Shrimp Shack over in Orange Park for a lot less, and received everything all at once. I always said that I would give everyone a second chance, but not for $85 of bad service and bad food. The manager did allow for a few dollars off, which was about $5 to $7 and did offer me a slice of cake for my birthday. I accept the cake, but left it there waiting for the baked potato. NO, I will not be going back and I'm sorry to say I can't recommend eating there. If Iggy replace another restaurant, than I hate to know how bad the other restaurant was. I just moved here in April 2015, and have enjoyed a lot of good restaurants and never said I wouldn't go back, but...
Read moreThe food is really good overall but there are some issues. I don't typically order the fries but my kids sometimes do and I've noticed they do not prepare them fresh. They are kept in a bowl under a warming station for who knows how long. I've noticed this on several occasions. Also, I ordered the seafood nachos this evening and they came out way too quickly. As such, the cheese and the seafood were cold like it hadn't been freshly prepared and the chips were stale.
10/26/2019 I am adding to this review. I took a long break from iggy's after the condescending and rude reactions I got to my original review where I tried stay as positive as possible while pointing out the issues. This latest visit confirms my original review. Your process in prepping sides especially the fries is flawed and still a problem. Bo one I know likes fries that aren't fresh and hot and your prices involves them sitting far too long. My to-go order was wrong and I waited about 15 minutes for the fix and not once did the fried get replenished with fresh ones. Once again your process is flawed and/ or not being properly adhered to. if you choose to ignore it, so be it, but save your rude response this time. It shows a lack of appreciation for...
