What happened to this place????? The nostalgia is still there, but the food quality is so bad now. The roast beef sandwiches that my wife loves are so overcooked and burnt that it was unrecognizable to what they used to be. My burger was beyond burnt, but for some reason, the "grilled" onions and peppers were not cooked at all. Come on.... Also, at 7pm on a Saturday night, how are they out of sweet tea? And, we got the last two Roast beef sandwiches??? We would have ordered more food to go, like we do EVERY TIME, but the food quality was so bad we stopped eating and left. I'm serious when I say this, and it's kind of sacrilegious, but for this experience, I would have rather had an Arby's roast beef sandwich. When it came time to fix my order, the cashier had no idea how to refund me for the 3rd sandwich I ordered cause they didn't have 3 roast beef sandwiches. I'm literally standing in Top Round in Ft Lauderdale typing this message since both my wife and I thought the food was inedible. Don't get me started on the cheese fries, too. They just slapped a piece of unmelted cheese on the top of them. So saddened by this experience. If you want my order number to verify I was there, it was order #270.

I wanna start of with this is definitely a old fashioned burger exactly what the name says This is not a smash burger restaurant so don’t expect that expect a plain old fashion cheeseburger when I arrived I asked the girl at the register for some recommendations she couldn’t name one but she was still very nice i ordered the cheeseburger and cheese fries with a soda , First the soda was completely flat I asked to change from coke to sprite and that did not solve the problem .The burger was ok It did lack seasoning but I guess that what they mean by old fashioned but still a good pretty decent burger with good quality and size the condiment bar was one of the reasons the burger was considered a standard burger making up for any loss it did have on seasoning , the restaurant is definitely more for a older crowd so that could be a reason, Also If cheese fries was l not what I had in mind its was like the just put slice of cheese overt the fries wish I would just ordered regular but it was different from the usual but it’s honestly is special in its own way the price was still reasonable and I do love my souvenirs cup I will be back to try the restaurant again see if I could order something different

I have been coming here my whole life and it has only gotten better. This is a true fort lauderdale local gem. These are classic old school burgers. They aren't piled so high that taking a bite is difficult. They are affordable. They are freshly ground daily and cooked to order. Even when we're there at a weird time, they never use old fried left over from lunch service or reheat things. The buns are always fresh and warm. Husband tried the patty melt and it was the best one he's had in years. This is Ron Swanson's type of place. Classic, no bells and whistles, good food. ¼ lb with cheese was $9. Husband's patty melt was *massive* and cost $11. Fries are extra but they give you so many we can never finish them. Oh and they still have that excellent crushed ice. It's so much yummier than regular ice.

I have two reviews. This most recent one is my most recent experience that I'm putting on here right now. The young lady at the counter was the rudest and most disrespectful person I have ever dealt with at Jacks. This is not indicative of everyone at Jacks but she needs to be called out 7pm 11/25

My food came up, but she called out a different number. I kind of knew where I was in the order system (who was in front of me and behind me) so I asked her if it was my food and she said NO!. After waiting about 5 more minutes and no one picking up the food, I asked her again and she ignored me. She was too busy breaking down the condiment bar at 7pm. Another 5 minutes or so went by and another order came up. This time when I approached the counter again, the young lady laughed and said oh yeah, this order is yours.

I said to her, so this order that I originally asked about and you said no to, was actually mine all along? She laughed again and said yeah, they gave me the wrong number. Even though I asked her to check on the number, she said she couldn't do that for some reason.

I asked to speak to the manager. A gentleman came out from the back and offered to remake all the food fresh and hot, which he did, although I think he only remade the fries, but it was all good in the end.

When he brought the refreshed order back, I asked him what had happened. He said he didn't know. He hadn't spoken to the girl yet.

Here's my take on it though. She was late teens early 20s, thought everything was funny, even the poor service she was giving, and the manager fixed the situation, which I thank him for.

If you look at my reviews, I don't write bad reviews for the most part. I find the good in all my visits. When I'm paying $40 for 3 burgers and 3 fries, don't F with my food. Don't let it get cold. Don't think it's funny to ignore it or ignore me. My dollars are a part of what's helping to keep the doors open for another 50 years of service.

Below is my original review from several months ago. I'm still leaving 5 stars for all the other employees and the great tasting food but the unprofessional young lady at the counter needs retraining in customer service not just for her time at Jacks, but for her future career choices in the years ahead of her.

The hamburgers here are some of the freshest and best tasting. Very reasonable pricing. They have a condiment bar so you can add condiments as you like with many options available. French fries are...
