It makes me so sad to have to write this. When we walked through the door for the first time 2 years ago, we were tickled to find a place where various staff were wearing Jesus t-shirts and promoting Christian values. Lately tho, their actions and decisions would make any true Christian very sad. I mean who promotes their Christianity with new coffee cups for sale that promote cussing? See the picture of their new coffee cups. Also, their menu has stayed basically the same BUT staff have now been instructed to upcharge multiple items including condiments. So if you want a sandwich you'll have to eat it dry or pay extra for mayo and ketchup. Who charges extra for condiments on your sandwich? And that's just one example of many I could give. Sadly I feel the spirit of greed has crept in. And while I'm on it, their friendliness has turned into hatefulness towards their customers. When I asked Keifer about all the extra charges on our ticket (one week ago we paid $19 for the same items that cost us $24+ this time) he started explaining that they were now charging for mayo, etc. I looked at him with confusion and to get clarification to make sure I was understanding him I asked "So if I order a sandwich I have to eat it dry or pay extra for mayo?" His words "We gotta do that to stay above water" I then brought to his attention that all restaurants are struggling but noone charges for putting mayo on your sandwich. He then came out with "It's not your business and you don't make the decisions here." Needless to say I was so shocked I couldn't say another word. Just trying to make sense out of something that makes no sense. He failed to see that he did not "win". All he did was loose....loose 2 good local, faithful, customers. There goes about $75 dollars a week of income. This place sadly, has become the epitome of hypocrisy. Actions show the true spirit. They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good. – Titus 1:16
Edit: After reading this review I realized how almost fantastical it sounded. So I thought I'd add a pic of our receipt. Look at all the upcharges. The ham was a add on so not an issue but everything else...nope. Where it says salsa...that was the charge for the mayo. Where it says pimento cheese...that was the upcharge for the PB&J as a trade out for cream cheese; which was pre-approved weeks ago seeing as how the cream cheese cost more than that little bit of pb&j. If you think about it, I was actually helping your bottom line. But obviously you have been blinded to common sense. SMH, never again. Regarding the owners response: I am very sympathetic towards cost management for business nowadays. But here's the real problems. 1. The condiments asked for and charged for was plain ole' basic mayonnaise which was requested for the sandwich as we ordered. It was not a special sauce. 2. I had been getting pb&j on bagel for a while. It was made very clear and approved by most as a SUBSTITUTION for the cream cheese. This was the first time I had ever been charged. It was approved by Kiefer (thru the same girl),yet she was the first to try to charge me extra. Noone offered to refund me until I asked about it and it was not Kiefer who was involved at that point. 3. The only problem I had with Kiefer was his snarly comment regarding me not being the boss. I never tried to be the boss and just brought to his attention that everyone else builds the cost of condiments into the sandwich. You don't talk to a customer like that. Especially a loyal customer who is just trying to make sense of something that absolutely does not make sense. Regarding the cups. Of course sinners nowadays don't see the problem with cussing. But to claim to be a Christian establishment and promote cussing is an oxymoron. The word "Christian" means Christlike. To my knowledge my Christ did not cuss. Not even a little. Not even when he was angry. Were not perfect. And things slip but that doesn't mean...

Believe me, I am very picky when it comes to my coffee & food and every single thing I have ever ordered & consumed from this business is absolutely scrumptious!! Plus, I probably have bought a dozen bags of Scott's "Sunshine Monkey" coffee! It is my ALL time FAVE coffee I have ever drunk! Seriously, nothing I have ever ordered there has disappointed me. Now to review CREATE studio....There isn't enough time or space here in this forum to adequately express how much FUN, how much SISTER-HOOD CAMARADERIE, AND how many unique & gorgeous things I have created since the studio opened. From the Silk Scarves with Ange, the hearts with Ange, leather & pearls with Sherrie, painting with Kathleen, Button Seahorse & Christmas wreath with Ellen, etc. etc. It has been perfect!! I love it when I walk in & Ange greets me with a hug, (Scott always does too) and I can smell the "goodness"......Angela & Scott work tirelessly to ensure ALL are Welcome, ALL are having a great time, all are happy with their purchases, and to top it off, they are amazingly kind & generous souls! They truly care about their customers & friends, and they try very hard to ensure all are satisfied and pay attention to every possible need! For me, in this beautiful place, the icing on the cake is meeting new friends and forming alliances with others who share in the same likes, interests & passion. I look forward to the future @ this GREAT new business. (I honestly think Zoe is a master baker.......I have never tasted a Carmelita such as hers......and those SCONES...
Read moreWe stopped here on our way to the beach, and it was the best decision we made all day! Mr. Big was personable and passionate about coffee. Quite frankly, this is the most enjoyable and delicious cup of coffee I have had in quite some time. My French Press of Brazilian Blue was incredible. And he let me try the Sumatra - NO BITTER BITE! Amazing.
Local roasters who know their craft are rare gems! Even if you are passing by, drop in. If you are a true coffee lover, you will be absolutely delighted!
We also tried the homemade kolaches. They were delicious as well - and that comes from folks with ties to south Texas
Finally, they had a lovely sugar free syrup and made a sugar free caramel macchiato for my daughter with type 1 diabetes. She was so excited and appreciative!
Thank you for a wonderful and memorable experience. We’ll see you...
