I have stayed at this location several times in the last 3 years, and never had a problem with the staff or the rooms until this visit. First when I first got to the hotel, there is no front desk staff just a keyosk. Anyway, I was asked how many was going to be staying in the room, and I told the guy who came on the monitor it was just me, but I may have my son staying with me later on due to a funeral that we were in town for. He advised they did not allow over night guests. I would never expect that my son would stay for free, I would have, of course had him check in that room, or be added to that room as a guest and would fully expect to pay a little more. I just blew it off and decided to deal with it if my son did in fact show up to stay with me. (He didn't so no issues). I get checked in, ang to to the room assigned which was on the first floor, and the first room on the left after the reservation area. I walk in and the room smelled like urine. Like someone had peed near the front door. It was only right there in the doorway and I checked the rest of the room to see if was anywhere else. I thought about going to the front and asking for another room, but of course there was no on at the front, and I didn't feel like messing with the keyosk again so once I checked the beds and the pillows and everything to make sure there were no bugs the smell faded and I just let it go. I brought my bags in and started to get comfortable and I noticed the carpets and even the top blankets were somewhat stained. One stain looked like coffee stain on the blanket, but there were two beds so I decided to just sleep in the other bed. The floors in the bathroom did not look like they had been mopped either. I put on a pair of Sox and decided to just not walk barefoot. Got through the rest of the stay fine. No issues until day of check out. My oldest son came in and hung out with me after the funeral and we watched a movie and grabbed something to eat late that night. He left my room about 3 in the morning and went to sleep since I was checking out the next morning. I woke up in pain with my back ( I have chronic back problems ) and was not feeling great about 7 30 that morning and figured if I could sleep a little bit longer after I took my meds I would get in the shower before checking out. I woke up about 1030 and realized I over slept so I called the local 8 (850)897 number for the front desk thinking there surely would be someone at the front desk for check out hours. A gentleman answered and I let him know what had happened and I wanted to see if I could get a late check out just til 12 so I could get a shower and finish packing. He said they don't usually do late check outs but if I would be out before 12 they wouldn't charge me an extra day. I said ok, and he said you will be out before 12, I said absolutely. I was getting undressed to get in the shower, and someone was pounding on the door hard, and announced what I realized was housekeeping. I couldn't really understand the gentleman at the door. I figured the front desk had not let them know, so I just cracked the door to let him know I'd be out in 30 min as per the confederation I had with the front desk, and he said no no, no late check out. Check out at 11. I said no I spoke to the front desk and they said as long as..... and I didn't finish my sentence and he raised his voice and said no no no... no one at the front desk, you have 5 minutes. Then you leave. I said no sir I just called the front desk... he said as long as I was out before 12.... the man cut me off again and got louder and said no no no you have 5 min. Get out.. I was so shaken up I threw my stuff in my bags without folding or organizing, didn't even brush my teeth and left. I cried for about an hour...
Read moreIt's so sad that it's in a good location. I was in town for a funeral, and was treated HORRIBLY. I checked in and wasn't impressed with the keyosk check in and no one at the front desk. I proceeded to check in and advised the person on the screen I may have my son staying in the room with me wasn't for sure and he advised they do not allow overnight guests. I understand very well that I would have to add him to the room, but the way he said it was so rude. I get checked in and the room smelled like urine at the front door. I checked the rest of the room and was going to see about changing rooms, but when I got back from the car to get a couple of items the smell had gone away. I decided I would stay in that room unless I smelled it again, or something else was wrong with the room. I wasn't in the room very much until the next evening anyway. The evening after the funeral, my oldest son came to hang out with me in the room and watch a movie and he was there pretty late until three in the morning or so, which I did not get to sleep until an hour or so after he left. I was checking out the next morning and I knew the checkout. Was at 11, and I set my alarm for 10 o'clock, but my phone died during the night, so it never went off and I did not wake up until a quarter two eleven, when I called the front desk and asked for a late checkout. Audio The local number for the front desk and spoke to somebody on the other end of the line who told me as long as I was out before 12I would not get charged. I was on my way to get in the shower. And housekeeping knocked on the door and told me checkout was at 11I uh, relate the message to him that I called the front desk and that I would be leaving in about 30 to 45 minutes. He said no, no, no check out. Azad 11 and I explained him that I spoke to somebody at the front desk who said I could check out like he cut me off and said nobody at the front desk. No, no no check out is at 11. You have 5 minutes. You need to get out. This back-and-forth went on for a few more minutes. And I just decided to go ahead and leave since I really didn't want to be charged for another night that I was not going to be there and I did not want to stay in that room or at that location...
Read moreMade a reservation through Home Depot which I believe went through Expedia. Searched pet friendly hotels and Rodeway Inn niceville popped up. Upon arriving I noted that the name was changed to Sleep Inn. The front desk clerk was on a personal call when I approached and Never got off the phone while checking me in. I told her that my guest and I had two ESA registered dogs. She said ok and made copies of the paperwork. After getting up to the room I was called back down to front desk greeted by a manager in shorts and a tshirt who argued with me about my dog not being a service animal. I explained that when I made reservation that the Rodeway Inn (former name of current Sleep Inn) stated it was pet friendly. He reluctantly allowed us to stay and then proceeded to charge us an additional $200 for cleaning fees. Which our room was never even serviced the entire stay. And he charged an additional $100 incidentals deposit. A day later he proceeded to put up a paper printed off sign stating not a pet friendly hotel and that ESA animals weren’t considered to be service animals in the state of Florida. I have never felt so unwelcome in a hotel or disrespected. Any of the several other hotels I’ve stayed in never batted an eye about my ESA registered dog. Never!! Upon leaving he did give back the $100 deposit and made excuses that this whole scenario was the fault of Expedia and not him. It was a horrible experience. I’ll never book another room with any Choice hotel and will be sure to share my experience with others. I guess that manager is ok with pot smoking in the hotel bc we smelled it several times. It feels like we were discriminated against. Upon our last night another hotel employee chased us outside to loudly say “we aren’t a pet friendly hotel”. We were taking our ESA dogs outside. I explained yes we’ve already spoken to the manager. You’d think there would’ve been a note or a conversation with other employees about our situation. We felt so shamed and mistreated. Never been treated so horribly by anyone else in the hospitality industry. Won’t be back ! I do NOT RECOMMEND!! There’s plenty of other...
