Let me start by saying we have been coming here for 15 years and this was the worst experience yet. I would give it 0 stars but it wont allow me to. When we walked in around 2pm (after lunch rush, only a few tables eated), there were no employees around to seat us. We stood there for almost 10 mins before another guest got up, walked to another table, said something and pointed to us. Turns out it was 2 employees sitting on their phones who should have been working. We were seated and the girl (who's attitude seemed like she'd prefer to be anywhere but there) took our order. Our drinks came out with cold queso and chips. My husband had asked for sweet tea but got water instead. When the gentleman brought our food out, I asked if he could please have our server return so I can ask for a sweat tea but she never came back. We ended up sharing a drink. During our whole meal, there were only a couple of employees about and they were both on their phones totally ignoring everyone. Right as we were finishing up, our server 'finally" showed up. I asked her for a sweat tea. No apology, without saying a word went and got another one. This one turned out the same. Tasted like water, no flavor what so ever. But we were done eating and decided to just let it go. It was too late now anyway. As we were walking up to the register, an employee from the kitchen came out and asked one of the other female employees, "Yo, who made the sweat tea?(while laughing) It's bad!" When we got to the register where our server met us. I told her the second cup of sweat tea she brought out isn't sweat tea either. She then proceeded to say, "It is sweat tea, it was made this morning". We told her we just heard another employee say the same thing and my husband said, "Well, maybe someone forgot to add the tea and sugar because that's plain water". She then responded with, "Well, no one else has complained and I don't feel like yelling at anyone!" We were floored. And then we only realized when we got home that we were still charged for sweat tea which we never got (which was our bad because we didn't look at the receipt before we paid). All I know is that we will be going to the Kingsley location from now on. They seem to always have their stuff togeher and...
Read moreI'm not sure how the La Nopalera on Kingsley can be so amazing and this one can be so awful and flavorless. I ordered delivery and I already know some food doesn't travel well but I live 5 mins away and figured it would be fine. Besides the food I had the other day at the other location was so tasty I knew it would be worth it. My California burrito was the most bland and flavorless thing I've ever tasted. They literally just grilled veggies and unseasoned chicken together, combined it with rice that was not seasoned and put it together in a burrito and sent it on its way. My sons enchilada?! A literal sponge. The texture was tough and gummy yet spongy like cake and yes it was as gross and confusing as that sounds and the sauce was sour. I expected my queso fundido to be a little oily because chorizo is oily when cooked. This was like they drained the pan into my bowl to give me a little more dip and sent it on it's merry way as well. The churros?! Cold on the inside and not the "oh it sat and is at room temperature cold." It was refrigerator cold and somehow one of them wasn't fully cooked yet the outside was crispity crunchity. Saving grace was the always delicious chips and salsa!! So since I spent a total of $34 for this meal, I can now say with confidence that those were the most expensive chips and salsa I have ever consumed. Clearly the staff here needs to take a field trip to the Kingsley La Nop for some tips on how to season food properly. Also yes I complained to management and boy was she uninterested. She said sorry and she would speak with the kitchen but given the fact that she was laughing when she answered and brushed me off with a generalized sorry, I'm sure she also just went on her merry way sending out plates of unseasoned water to the patrons there tonight. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some high dollar chips and salsa to indulge in. Stay...
Read moreHonest breakdown of what my past three experiences have been like with going to La Nopalera:
Sat down pretty quickly in a relatively empty (maybe 1-2 parties aside from my own) dining room.
The prior two times our waiter or waitress came out decently quickly asked for drinks. However the most recent time we were here my companion and I waited about 30 minutes prior to being even seen by the waitress to get our drink order. The previous two times however (same waitress) never refilled the drinks and only on visit w of 3 did she offer to go cups. Drink sizes are large but you'll never get a refill to save your life.
When it came time to get the food orders, times 1 of 3 and 2 of 3 the servers took about 10 more minutes to return. The third time we were prepared and gave our food order with drink order. Cook time was about 10-15 min which I am fine with for that.
Food: every single time it was hot and fresh. All of it was also extremely good. Fajita nachos are to die for.
All in all the food is amazing but the service is absolutely garbage. While the food is the main reason I want to come back because it's all really good the service is a...
