I'm not going to 1-star them like a lot of the negative reviews, but I can agree with the reviews themselves. First, I'll just say our server Jose was great. But the food and the value proposition were not good, at all. For my wife, myself, and our two pre-teen daughters, our bill was $82.38 after taxes. We did order an app special that was $8 (Mahi bites), which were really good. A 10 piece boneless for myself, 10 piece traditional for my wife, a 10 piece boneless for our daughters to split, 2 orders of fries, and 2 sodas. When we left I was going over the total with my wife and they left off 2 sodas. It would have been over $90 with taxes with those sodas on there. I think that is astronomical for a wing joint, although it seems on par with their nearest competitor that is named after our wonderful summer storm season.
My big issue is the food. The place was not busy at all, and the wings did take a while to get out to us. But for the money, the wings are just not that good. I ordered half jerk rubbed, and half sweet bourbon bbq. The bourbon bbq ones were pretty cool (might have been due to the sauce, not sure). The jerk ones were barely coated and it was just the top. Like they just sprinkled it on. Now I just had dry jerk flavored boneless wings a week prior at that same competitor I mentioned above, and they were fully coated. My wife said her wings were ok. Overall sorely unimpressed with the food for the cost. Baked wings are one of my wife's specialties and hers are far better for sure. As for the fries, they were average at best. I think the frozen fries we get and pop in our air fryer were better. As one review said, the food was really similar to what I'd expect from some air fried Tyson's frozen chicken wings really.
As someone who is very into sports, I can appreciate the atmosphere with all of the TVs. However not impressed with the wings. I will probably visit again and try some of the other food as the pictures some have posted it does look much better than the wings. But I will not be returning to the Island Wing Co for...
Read moreWent in today for the first time as I had heard decent things about this place. It was pretty loud inside but that was to be expected as every tv was tuned to basketball and Florida was playing. Booths are super uncomfortable as they seem like they are literally just a wooden plank …. This location used to be a Ocharleys with decent seating.
My husband went to wash up in the restroom and saw an employee in the restroom who didn’t bother to wash his hands after using the facilities and then watched him walk into the kitchen. Literally should have left the second he told me that.
We ordered a sandwich and a chicken salad with a basket of fries (comes with 2 dipping sauces) as an app. Our server confirmed that the fries were an appetizer. After awhile our entrees came out but no appetizer. The food runner said she would get them. Some more time passed before our server came by and asked if we still wanted them , we said yes and she said they were on their way out. It seemed to take longer than normal for fries to hit the table with only one sauce when our server said she was still trying to locate the other sauce. Not sure why it didn’t just come up from the kitchen..seemed like an odd statement. Anyways, the fries finally hit the table and honestly they were the only thing that was okay about the meal. The mahi sandwich was thin and bland while the pineapple cole slaw was overly sweet and very watery. The southwest chicken salad had fresh crisp lettuce but the chicken is super thin with a tasteless thin breading . The fries were hot and crisp and the two sauces were good. Overall the meal was lukewarm and underwhelming.
Probably won’t be back but if we did we would probably just try the wings. If you are looking for a place to watch a game and have just a beverage this would be a decent place due to the...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. This was hands down one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I’m not sure what’s going on in the kitchen, but someone needs to step in—fast.
First off, the chicken tasted like cardboard. Completely dry, no seasoning whatsoever—it was like chewing on a flavorless sponge. (quesadilla) The fries were burnt to a crisp, literally black on the edges and somehow still soggy in the middle. As for the hamburger, I don’t even know how you mess that up, but they did. It had no taste. Just bland, gray meat on a sad bun. No seasoning, no flavor, no effort. Even the kid’s meal was a disaster. The child’s pizza was a greasy nightmare—drenched in sauce with barely any bread to support it. It fell apart as soon as you picked it up, and not in a good way.
The service wasn’t much better. It took forever to get our food, and when we did, no one checked in or seemed to care when we barely touched our plates.Save your time, your money, and your taste buds—go anywhere else. This place needs a serious overhaul.
The manager did comp the meals and which was the only saving grace of the...
