La Pausa: Where Time Stands Still and Taste Bids Adieu. One star, and that's just because I can't give zero. This place is like a culinary black hole sucking all joy out of eating. Let's start with the infamous Kale Caesar Salad. What a joke! It was basically an iceberg lettuce hiding under a desperate sprinkling of fried kale chips. I felt like I was foraging for flavor in a barren wasteland of greens. Caesar would roll over in his grave if he knew his name was associated with this travesty. The ambiance? Oh, it's like dining in a waiting room where the only entertainment is watching fellow travelers succumb to the culinary purgatory. And the prices? Let's just say I'm still recovering from the sticker shock. Thankfully they comp’d the salad. So, if you're looking for a tasteless adventure before your flight, La Pausa at Miami Airport is your one-way ticket to disappointment. Bon appétit, if you dare.

Gordon Ramsay himself during peak Kitchen Nightmares form couldn’t save this place… The name “La Pausa” is pretty apt because you will be waiting for literally everything from being seated, to getting your drinks and food. I paid $90USD for a draft beer, a bottle of water and two of the most disgusting plates of fish and chips I’ve ever seen. The fish was so soaked in oil it literally oozed when being cut with a knife and fork. Don’t forget the tip… 18% service charge is already included in every bill which is probably warranted to compensate the staff for the great shame they must feel every day working in this establishment. Whoever is responsible for allowing this place to remain open should be locked up. Do yourself, and your wallet, a favour and visit Burger King next door.

I ordered the chicken tenders with fries which weren't bad (still paying $18 for something that took me 4 minutes to finish eating isn't my cup of tea). However my order took a while and they served me a drink that I never ordered, they almost charge me for it at the end so make sure to keep an eye on your receipt. But the worst part was ... no free water! I hate that. We all know that Miami is an amalgamation of every Latin American country in the world, and of course in Latin America you never get water for free. It's a cultural thing. But still I'd like to believe Miami is a part of the US and that means I should be able to get free water.

Server immediately tried to upsell drinks and recommended only the highest priced ($25+) items offered. When we declined drinks AND the one item I did want was not available even though it was advertised at every single table right next to the mule specialty drink ad, the waiter suggested that we order all food items right away or the food could take a long time. He even suggested the possibility of missing our flight while waiting for the food! Since we had recently disembarked the ICON of the Seas and our flight wasn't for another 3.5 hours we weren't concerned. At this point I started to feel the waiter wasn't interested in our business. Anyway, of the selections ordered the brussel sprouts were done nicely. The roasted carrots were hard and bland. We also noted that our water was served in plastic while other patrons received theirs in glass. Maybe it was because they fell prey to the pressure to order those overpriced items. Maybe it was something else. All I can say is he was lucky the gratuity was automatically charged and my Dearest Niece was picking up the tab. She didn't think much of the experience either. I will not be dining there again and I won't be recommending anyone else to dine...

The food was OK. A bit over priced but what I guess you can expect at the airport. The biggest issue I have a concern with is the attentiveness of staff. The bartender was serving us (we were at the high tops) and he was also keeping up with bar. I would say he needs little more people skills and following back up with those he was tending to. I would have took another drink but took him to long to come back over to check up and he never asked if we need another drink or anything to that nature.

Eye contact with people can quickly tell if you are needed and not keeping your head down. The food wasn't bad but ok better than going to McDonalds right across the way. Someone should teach the team the better the service the better the tip in most cases.

Also the 15% Tip is included in check so maybe that's why there is no incentive to give great service. They missed out because in most cases I give 25-45% tip if service is great.

This particular meal we had 2 Alcoholic drinks , a bacon avocado burger (avocados were bad on burger), chicken avocado sandwich both meals came with fries. ...
