Another recommendation from people I know or have met, Lost Pizza was highly spoken about as Pensacola's best pizza joint.
Sadly, I was underwhelmed.
What caught me off guard was exactly how small these "small" pizzas are. They're more akin to a personal pan pizza, which, in all fairness is technically a small. But it's smaller than I was expecting.
The fatboy burger pizza was absolute chaos. Upon opening the box, the only thing I saw was huge chunks of iceberg lettuce scattered all over the pizza. I've never seen lettuce on a pizza and didn't really read the menu description farther than the first few ingredients. The taste was there. Everything blended together nicely but I don't think this will reheat good the next day with all the lettuce. Maybe if the lettuce was smaller shreds it would work. It was my least favorite choice of this trip.
Next up was the Kujo (sp?) which is closer to a classic supreme pizza. Ham, black olives and sausage. Yum! This one was the best to me. It was a bit spicy, so that was nice. The crust was also very chewy and a good companion to all the toppings. The toppings were insane! They stuff a ton of food on those pizzas. Big plus.
I got cheese sticks as well which were tasty. The sauce was again, spicy, which I still loved. I wish the cheese and bread was a little bit gooey-er like some other places but the cheese is the real deal. With actual Parmesan instead of fake shaker bottle taste.
I didn't stay and eat but the atmosphere is very rustic and fun. Laid back with iconic decor and plenty of space to chill for a while.
Although I wasn't totally into it, I can definitely see the appeal in both the food and the setup inside. I wouldn't turn it down if someone offered it to me but I probably won't go out of my way to...
Read moreI recently visited the Lost Pizza Company in North Pensacola and I must admit, I was rather disappointed. I had high expectations for this place, given its unique character and the positive reviews I had read. However, my experience fell short of those expectations.
The restaurant's atmosphere, while aiming for a distinctive and eclectic vibe, didn't quite hit the mark for me. The music was barely audible in the main dining area, and as we were seated in the back, we were instead subjected to the sounds of air hockey, arcade games, and a crying baby. While the latter isn't the restaurant's fault, a more immersive atmosphere could have made these distractions less noticeable.
The food, unfortunately, was also a letdown. The pizza sauce had an off taste to it, almost sour or fermented, which was off-putting. We were initially excited about the unique menu items, such as tamales, which are not typically found in a pizza parlor. However, these too were disappointing. The tamales seemed old and mushy and lacked the fresh, vibrant flavors we were hoping for.
We usually order extra food to take home for the next day, but in this case, we left our leftovers behind. The food simply wasn't something we were looking forward to eating again.
I understand that everyone's experience can vary, and many people seem to enjoy the Lost Pizza Company. However, based on my experience, I don't think we will be giving it another try. It's important to share honest reviews, and unfortunately, ours is not as positive as others. I hope others have a better experience...
Read moreI'll start off with the easiest things for management to change.
Drinks, there is one soda dispenser which uses Coke products and four cisterns for holding tea, two for sweet and two for regular tea. This leaves you with one ice dispenser, for the whole restaurant which can hold quite a few people. Low ice levels and no sweet tea while I was there, and a line you will wait at often to get anything to drink.
This is a seat your self and order up front place, being such, I would have thought the tables would be clean if empty, not so much. Staff for the most part is helpful and polite.
Food, well I can tell you the boneless wings are not that great. They appear to be frozen and suffered from death by breading. Until they change this I would pass on this appetizer! The pizza, I could not attest to if it really is using fresh ingredients. It was… bland like others have stated. I honestly felt I could make it better at home. Lots of cheese but it was an odd texture not stringy. Thin cuts of meat that were not very flavorful and in small portions. Thin crust is thin and crunchy the “massive” is cut into 12 normal size slices.
Having sampled pizzas from New York City, Chicago, etc. this place is not on my top 10 list, it’s just so, so. The ambiance is nice the sound levels are good for a busy place. Sadly, there are better places in Pensacola for pizza. Hopefully things will change for the better, but as of 2/26/19 I would pass if someone asked to go...
