Tucán Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Florida

We went there earlier today with a party of 14. Called on Monday to provide a heads up they replied no problem. Please call day of and confirm. Which we did. Everything was good to go... so we thought until we got there. No tables for us and party of 14 was clogging up the main area so they instructed us to stand out in the heat. We refused because we had already waited 30 minutes inside and they didn’t set expectations correctly so no one was happy. They didn’t care very inconsiderate both hostesses were getting lippy so we said screw it. Went to Beef o’ Brady’s sat us down immediately and provided bomb customer service. All we were trying to do was celebrate an adults birthday and Tucans totally failed us blaming it on language barrier. Uhm no I speak fluent Spanish nice try. I don’t recommend this place go to Vallartas but avoid this place at all costs!!!!!

Update: First if all your hostess did speak to me. Secondly If you go back to your notebook paper wait list you had 12 circled. So you did speak to us before our number changed during the hour we waited there. Covid has nothing to do with it especially if no one in the entire building is wearing masks. Your telling people one thing on the phone and scenario completely different once there. Your staff did not give us the option to stand where you claim. She specifically said TO ME stand outside patio area! We moved to middle area because we were going to sit at a table. We tried to confirm by asking few of your staff, “ So yes we can sit here?” no one responded kept walking. It boils down to you treat your paying customers right last night you did not. There were many business owners and influential individuals in the group, not that it matters to you guys but you flat out screwed up again. We are not the only people claiming your service is subpar. Lastly, yes people have the right do know what goes on and social media is the best way to let people know that Tucan does not appreciate their customers. So try to turn it around that we were rude etc. but your staff started it very unprofessional representation of a business so add that to your list. Is this Miguel??? Because guess what you weren’t there buddy. Apologize, HA! You should apologize to us for wasting our time and holding up the celebration of a First Responder of 30 years!! 8/20/2025 As always the food and service is outstanding. The place was packed but we had our food ... Just so fast, y'all.

We eat here at least twice a month and have for two years at least. We were just there and everything was great as it always is. David, our server, was awesome. This was our best experience but that is just putting a hat on a hat. My wife is picky( love you babe) and she's not been disappointed once. I don't know who they have cooking but they are excellent chefs. The entire menu is great and they have things you haven't thought about but should have. In closing, I have worked in the food service realm for 10 years or more and they run a great place. I should mention that it's clean very clean or I would not eat there but you don't know me. The service is fast... They are bringing our food long before I expect it and you will have some chips and salsa before you're settled in and your server will be asking what you would like to drink. Everytime. The young man who was hosting would outshine the folks doing it at starred restaurants. I wish I knew his name but I work with kids that at are in high school and very few of them over the years have been on that guy's level or have any hope to be. Edit: it looks like someone knocked these outstanding individuals a star because they don't like that tacos were wrapped in foil as they found it unappealing and I find cold tacos unappealing but it takes all kinds. I promise you that if make them aware, in advance, that you have quirks and you're willing to withhold an entire star for them maybe forgetting that they can't know that you're ridiculous and find foil unappealing it's a very useful and eco friendly substance..if you took anything home in styrofoam you better give them their deserved 5 Stars. Our first experience was great. I like very hot food and this is the only Mexican restaurant in town that I know will deliver hot food. Especially, their chile toreador is very hot, but with a wonderful flavor. We both got fajitas and were very impressed. I was especially impressed with the fijitas texanas. It comes with chicken, steak, and shrimp. The shrimp in it were perfect!!! (It turns out that this was probably just a fluke.) That was a big deal for me. Nearly all restaurants in town that offer shrimp overcook shrimp that is usually not that fresh. This first time, I did not request lightly cooked but it was served perfect anyway. Sadly, I have returned and ordered shrimp dishes even stressing that I wanted the shrimp very lightly cooked. It does not matter. They seem intent on cooking their shrimp the same overcooked way that everywhere else in town cooks them. Otherwise and overall they are the best Mexican restaurant in town. However, for me, they raised the bar of how good Mexican food could be when we went the first time. They, for me, are competing against their best, and they don't seem to reliably measure up to that level consistently, because of the shrimp.
