Fantastic food and service by Mark. New owners know how to run a restaurant. Complimentary bread is the best you will ever eat. Chicken parmigiana doesn’t even need a knife to cut. Pasta is homemade. Tables are spaced out, noise level is low. Fine dining but you can dress casual. Not inexpensive, but worth the money. Steaks aged 40 days. It is so good. My wife and I can’t wait to go back.
I would add that the new owners changed the decor from the tired and outdated motif with music blaring to something more upscale and current. In comparing it to a Shula’s , it’s a smaller venue but for me the food is better. I already expect to spend more in some places for quality and service. I totally understand sticker shock but coming from Arizona, Scottsdale is also very spendy, so I go to Mastello’s for a nice meal not a weekly event. It never disappoints, I have been numerous times and never had a bad meal or service…
I would add if you really want to have a coronary, places like Ocean Prime charge 100.00 for dinners a la carte. 26.00 for crab bisque … With drinks and appetizers, easy 400.00 for two people. Mastello’s prices are inline for quality of food served. You will never have a bad meal, bad service or an empty drink glass at Mastello’s. And I defy you to find a restaurant who has better bread and according to my wife creamed Parmesan spinach. Not to mention aged steaks, fabulous seafood , outrageously good Italian. We feel it’s one of the best restaurants in the city if...

I’ve been to Mastello with my wife and friends twice. Everyone has really enjoyed the lovely atmosphere, decor, and food.
I love a small focused menu with special specials that are well executed. If you do too, this could be a place for you.
Last visit was had a larger party so we had the luxury of trying several of the apps. I’m not a fan of eating sentient beings, but the smoked octopus was delicious. As were the meatballs and charcuterie board.
The wine selections are very good.
My wife was overjoyed to have the melt in your mouth KC style NY strip with Gorgonzola crumbles. (However, they forgot to melt the crumbles on the steak and brought them separate and cold). For that I CANNOT give a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ as the service was only average. No apologies corrections were offered.
This time of year the place is fairly quiet during the early evenings. It’s a nice change to the finer Cape Coral restaurants we normally frequent.
In summary, you will enjoy the experience if you like high quality Italian standard, Northern Italian inspired seafood and Steaks, in a modern stylish setting. Based on the level of service in an almost empty restaurant I must back this rating off to ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (must try).
No food pics on this birthday visit with my wife and friends. I’ll update with pics on our next visit, because we...
Read moreNot the Fine Dining Experience We Hoped For We came here to celebrate our daughter’s birthday, expecting a fine dining experience—but unfortunately, it missed the mark. The ambiance felt more like a cantina than an upscale restaurant—cold and impersonal, with only white tablecloths to suggest otherwise. While our cocktails were delicious, it took over 30 minutes before anyone took our food order. The Charred Octopus was well-cooked but lacked seasoning, and the accompanying pepperonata was mostly just peppers with barely any chorizo. The Short Rib Ravioli was underwhelming with minimal filling. The risotto di Mare looked impressive, but the risotto was watery and overly peppered. The Salmon Piccata was so salty it was barely edible, I had to ask for parmesan cheese on the side just to salvage a few bites of pasta. It's hard to enjoy a meal when it's seasoned with such a heavy hand. The only highlight of the evening was dessert. The Vulcano Cioccolato and the Mascarpone & Espresso Crème Brûlée were both outstanding and saved the night from being a total letdown. Sadly, we left disappointed. For a place advertised as fine dining, the food and experience...
