this is literally the worst location ever the lady at the register. I don’t know if she is a part of the ownership or what but her attitude is nasty no matter where you go in there she’s not friendly she does not smell she does not welcome you the workers are lazy and every time I go in there is something different now I can’t get an express now. The express comes with only meet just the other day. I got oxtails on my rice and peas inside the express, they make their own rules and the oxtails was too spicy today. I got a curry goat that I cannot even eat. It is extremely too spicy and I love spice. I get the jerk all the time it’s up-and-down hit or miss sometimes it’s OK a lot of times it’s Super dry I came in there early for my lunchtime, one day and purchase The fried snapper I was on my way to work so I didn’t have time to turn around so I called because the fried snapper was spoiled and the smell was horrific so I called to let them know. Hey, I can’t eat this the taste the smell is horrible I’m not coming back for my money back I don’t want another fish all I want you to do is throw that batch away because you are going to make someone sick today, they told me well The main lady Manager is not here so she’ll give you a call back with your concerns do you think I got a call back? No I was out of $18 on a fish that I couldn’t even eat every time you go in there is something different. The food is going way downhill , the worst I hear from everybody they may not leave reviews but tonight took the cake for me so I’m leaving a review because I live literally two minutes away from this place so I eat here all the time it sucks because I just keep on giving them the benefit of the doubt because one day its perfect the next day is horrible but it’s always OK when the dark skin lady with the pulled back ponytail at the register is not there her energy is just super depressing and evil unfortunately, and I’ve encountered multiple people who have experienced her. Tell me the same thing something is truly off there. Oh, and let me not forget how the guy with the dreads that cooks in the back was outside on the side of the building peeing by the grill with a jerk chicken was cooking. That’s the last time I ate jerk chicken because they had to go to the back to get it, he did not wash his damn hands. He stood out there afterwards and spoked a cigarette. this...
Read moreSaw a couple ahead of me order a large oxtails, they were served by Lynn who gave them a healthy plate. So I decided to order a large oxtail, unfortunately I ended up getting served by a young light skin women with glasses. As she was making my plate, I notice she was piling it up with rice. I had to immediately stop her, as I do not need all that rice. Nevertheless, when she got to the oxtail she put about 3-4 pieces on the plate and said that was the portion for a large. I was in complete shock cause again the couple ahead of me literally just ordered the same meal and received a complete different portion then mine. I argued with the women serving me, stating that the previous server just served the same meal and the customers walked out happy. She told me, if I wanted more it would be an additional $9.00 on top of the $21.00 bringing it to a total of $30.00 for a decent plate of a large oxtail. Which I find quiet absurd comparing to other Jamaican restaurants who are serving the same dish for much less. Anywho, I ended up paying the $30.00 in order for me to get the worth of the plate but I am very dissatisfied with the service and price for the dish at this location. So therefore, I will not be returning back. I hope this review finds pleasure in whomever is considering ordering oxtails...
Read moreOnly one annoyance which is too common in Black owned businesses and PARTICULARLY in Jamaican restaurants and that's the ever present lack of professionalism no matter how minimal it is like making it unquestionably clear where the line starts to order (as in Subway, Firehouse Subs as an example) and the ability to answer questions WITHOUT unnecessary ignorant sarcasm and 'attitude' also sadly common when doing business with many of us.
Fortunately, I escaped 'attitude' when I stopped by recently for the first time as the three young ladies working at the counter were polite, friendly and professional. The sole annoyance was the lack of it clearly being marked where to order.
The food was 10 stars in my opinion, and I've eaten in the MANY Jamaican restaurants in the area. The steamed cabbage was so delicious and filling and the vegetarian pattie I had was the absolute best I've ever had and my favourite Jamaican soup, Red Pea soup, was beyond superb.
I know better than to expect the same level of or even remotely close to the level of service as I'd experience in the Olive Garden or even IHOP or Denny's as at best ALL of these hood restaurants are takeout joints with a couple of tables at best but I do expect good food regardless of price, and Negril is...
