Read moreThis has been bothering me for 2 weeks.... HOW can it cost $72 for a weak drink & ‘2 fish & chips ‘meals? My 26 -yr old daughter-in-law put together a surprise dinner for my son's Master’s degree graduation. Originally 15 people total, but 2 elders missing due to illness. We had long tables under the big tent out back. Separate bills for each couple. We brought our own ‘The Matrix-Neo’ theme-decorated Publix cake. My drink= vodka & diet 7-Up, was flat & very, very light on the alcohol -but I didn't complain, I didn’t want to appear like I was a lush. (I’ not a regular drinker & I assumed it would be a strong drink, so I’d sip on it all thru dinner; it was worse that the crap you get if it is your Birthday at the old “Hamburger Mary’s” on US 19 in Clwtr…. if you know what I mean!) Dinner was average. Definitely not a “Carrabba’s” or “Bonefish Grill” type meal. It consisted of 4 breaded & fried fish pieces (grouper I think; the price might have been around $22, or similar, I can't really remember exactly- it is from ‘Specials ‘menu so I couldn’t find it just now on their website menu.) It came with an average amount of overdone fries; the coleslaw was pretty good. The place was very busy; it everything took quite a while. In the end, they added a bigger tip since we were a large group. I told my husband to add another $5 because the waiter was sweet & had to go find & bring our graduation cake...He was very pleasant & had to walk a lot from the main restaurant area out to our far table. Our water glasses were plentiful & he remembered to bring a 2nd round, as they were all warm by the time dinner arrived. Towards end of our meal the patio was emptying out & the waitresses cleaning up kept turning off the huge industrial-sized fan that were helping us keep fairly comfortable in the heat. By the third time, one of tour male quests made a remark about leaving one of the fans one already; we got a snarky look toward our direction but they left it one permanently at last. We left promptly after our cake & made sure we stacked & tidied up our tables (we had more than our share of former waitresses in our midst. LOL. Plus, we are a good group our 'tippers'.) The amount of our individual bill was mind-boggling! How could 2 dinners & a drink come out to $72? It is beyond shocking! I don’t understand how that is possible as such an average place & for such a common meal? My husband didn't want to embarrass our son, so he didn't question it.... I noticed the amount on our debit card bank statement. I assumed he paid for someone else's meal?!? Nooo, that was just ours! Thank goodness our daughter-in-law didn't take our offer to pay for theirs! So disappointing seeing as we are locals & not on vacation from some other part of the world & unaware of the prices of similar meals from other local restaurants that we could have chosen instead! (We should have gone to Cricketer’s in Dunedin) It seems so unfair!!! We have other celebrations coming up …. obviously, we won't be back to Ozona Blue on Orange Street in Palm Harbor. (PS the...
I will start with the atmosphere. The atmosphere here is very good. The light music and nice decor gives a very welcoming feeling. Incorporating a pool into a resturant, although I’m not seeing the complete correlation, could be a nice feature for some. I would’ve given it a 5 star if it were a bit more consistent, the inside music is nice and light and can be heard throughout the indoor portion of the resturant. The outside though features a musician (which is very talented) that is pushed all the way on one side in the corner in the lower outside portion of the pool. This makes it hard to hear for people eating on the far side of the outside, he also takes too many breaks. Now for the service, our waitress was very friendly, 20 years old and trying very hard to please her customers. Someone needs to train her to write orders down though as she forgot our second appetizer we ordered and my side salad came out with our second appetizer and my main course. No for the food, we ordered two appetizers (as I previously mentioned the second was forgotten about until we reminded the server about it), our first appetizer was a half dozen oysters, they weren’t the best in the area but definitely good, the price was a bit high for the quality though. Our second appetizer was beef that was doused in a bread crumb and topped with a cheesy creamy topping. The flavor was good although the breading did dry the meat out and there wasn’t enough topping to offset it. My Cesar side salad was perfect and my wife’s Mediterranean “Chopped Salad” wasn’t a chopped salad at all but had a good flavor after my wife had to chop it herself. My main course was Seafood Pescatore, I asked our waitress if it was served with linguine noodles as the traditional dish is, she went and asked the cook and came back and said yes it was. I said great give me that dish and make it extra spicy. The dish was delivered and it didn’t have linguine noodles, it had fettuccini noodles, the dish had no flavor at all except the shredded Parmesan cheese. Any chef knows that you do not use cheese or much salt with fish as the fish is salty enough. The dish was not edible, now I want to mention I owned Italian restaurants and this is my favorite dish of all time. The resturant has many Italian themed items on its menu making you think it’s an Italian resturant, in fact it is the furthest thing from it. I explained my concerns to my waitress and she said she will talk to the kitchen, she only returned to take our dessert order and never addressed my concerns of me paying for a meal that I only ate 2 bites from. Please people spare yourself the money and avoid this resturant, I know good food and this is anything but it. The lack of concern by management is proof enough to let me know they just want to take vacationers money, knowing they will be gone soon and not making their customers happy. STAY AWAY, there are plenty of very good restaurants I’ve eaten at on the water in this area that actually care about...
Read moreVisited here after looking for a bite to eat while visiting Dunedin, and Palm Harbor Fl, and heard great things about this restaurant. Please be aware that finding a parking spot can be a bit hard to find, especially around dinner which does happen at alot of popular restaurants.
Besides that visually, the place was amazing to visit, with a very casual attitude, Io ed the fact that there was a pool, and a hot tub next to the dinning area, so if you wanted to and had a bathing suit, you can enjoy a quick meal in the outside dinning area and go for a quick swim. Inside, the restuarant was also impressive with beautiful wooden decorations, and had a ocean theme to it, as it is located in a boating community. The service was extremely friendly, and quick making us feel very welcomed.
On the aspects of the food the appetizer, (which was the steak Mudiga) was very good, I only think it would be nice if there was more sauce to help bring out the flavor. Besides that it was delicious. The main meal I had was Bimini Stuffed Grouper was very delicious and extremely filling, although I feel I could use a different sauce choice to help add a certain kick to the flavor. However, (this is coming from someone who likes chicken, crab, and pork,) for those you likes seafood, I would recommend it, yet I might try out the Chicken Marsala, next time. My mother tried the Shrimp Scampi, and from her, she said that she enjoyed it, but it was definitely a heavy portion, definitely not the thing to have when working a heavy job afterwards, but still she gives it a thumbs up. 👍
The final meal we had was one Apple Walnut Upside Down Pie. It was pretty good, yet I feel the Vanilla icecream used on it was very bland, and had a weird taste, maybe it was the fish we had before hand messing with our taste buds, the ice cream was the only thing I didn't like, yet we enjoyed everything else was spectacular.
To sum this section up, go when parking isn't that crazy. The scenery/atmosphere and complimentary pool/hot tub make this area a unique, and cool area to visit, and hopefully enjoy under the Florida sun. The service was very welcoming, and makes you feel at home, and the food was delicious.
Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts, and experience visiting the Ozone Blue Grilling Co/ I usually write shorter reviews, and or just post photos, however this visit is special as this reveiw, and post will make my 1,000th photo of places, and areas explored added to Google Maps, so I thought I would go all out for this occasion. Hope to continue posting another 1,000 photos soon in the future. And beyond that, keep your tastes open, and stomachs ready for the next bite to...
