Decided on Thai food while visiting. This place seemed to meet all the requirements other than the Japanese addition. I generally prefer one cuisine at a time. However, based on previous reviews this place seemed the safest to address my desire for Thai. We arrived at or around 1pm on a Saturday. There were not many people inside which is sort of a red flag for me, so we were seated right away.
Ordered: Pad Thai, drunken noodles, monkey brain and thumbs, chicken coconut soup (kai gon), hot sake, and pacific rim fried rice.
Appetizers - monkey brain and thumbs were both novelty apps in my opinion, but both were well stocked with meat and the coating was more than likely bread based and light. (Panko)
Pad Thai - amazingly seasoned well and even though ordered without nuts, the dish was still savory with a hint of sweet. The noodles were prepared perfectly and the portions extreme (in a good way)
Drunken noodles - equally amazing and the abundance of chicken in both dishes considerable.
Every thing hit the mark except the fried rice which is huge with me. The pacific rim rice includes all meats but the beef was chewy and not prepared well. The rice was cooked well but the seasoning was not to the level of what fried rice should taste like. The taste was off putting but still palatable. The rice alone prevented the full five start and our server Erin was phenomenal. He knew the menu and the portion sizes and was very pleasant. There is also a military discount which I always ask about was an additional plus for PR.
In summary, if I return here at cruise visit later this year I will more than likely come around the same time for consistency sake, and...
Read moreI use to come to pacific rim all the time however I moved a county over but when I came to visit my mom for mother day and treat her. I was every bit of appalled by the service rendered and the food was low grade compared to what it use to be. The scallops were bay scallops and not ocean scallops and they give you very little for the extra added 7 dollars to my hibachi I ordered. Also the fried rice wasn’t even fried rice; it was more or less wet rice as if they took it out of an instant pot. When I had asked my server for white sauce and extra she had stated that she was not allowed to because per their owner the sauce is expensive and people were waisting it. I have never been treated so poorly in an establishment ever in my life for a $116 dollar bill for 2 people. Also if she wanted to charge me for the white sauce so be it just bring me that white sauce but the rudeness was at an all time high and for the amount of money we spent she shouldn’t have been making a big deal over the white sauce. An when it came time to leave and I had asked for some white sauce to go so I could pour it on my horrible tasting fried rice she stated she would and never returned but pour what little bit of white sauce we had left. I brought it up to the manager Caitlyn and she stated that we had already gave you 4 containers to which my mom had 2 small sauce containers and I had 2. However we ordered a bunch of food both separate appetizers and a full dinner hibachi. We shouldn’t have to be givin a hard time for sauce when we spend $116 bucks. It’s like your treating customers like children and...
Read moreFrom the top, the place looks inviting. It's not dingy or dirty in any way. The decor was great, I loved the paintings and metal sculptures on the wall. There's ample parking that I saw and the waitstaff was friendly.
We were seated pretty much immediately and it wasn't busy when we arrived. After perusing the menu we made a decision on apps. We got the Krab Angels and let me tell you they were GOOD. We enjoyed them heavily and ordered a repeat. My husband said he loved how you could actually see more of the "Krab" in the wraps unlike some other places we've been to where it's in primarily cream cheese. So that was great. He also loved their Thai iced coffee, better than other places we've been, though for me the Thai iced tea was alright, nothing particularly special, but not garbage either.
On to the main dishes, I got a pad kee mao, and my husband got a curry duck. It's pretty much an ingrained habit at this point to order the familiar and compare and contrast to see who gets our patronage from then on. Now, my dish was... Inedible to say the least. I took maybe 4 bites of it before setting it aside and leaving it at that which was disappointing because it LOOKED fantastic coming out to the table.
My husband liked his duck curry, but not as much as other Thai food places in our local area. So chances are this was a first and last...
