We went to Popstroke on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. It had just opened a few weeks earlier, and I’m sure that was part of the draw, but I feel like this place will always be packed. I can’t imagine how busy it will be during season, this was late May. They had plenty of staff, and everyone was very friendly. Service was fast, whether it was paying for golf, getting drinks on the course, or the server who served us upstairs
Positives- the two courses are great. Definitely worth the $25 to play as much as you want. We played each course once. Getting drinks on the course was super easy and fast, that was an awesome feature. Everyone who worked there that we encountered was friendly and helpful. They definitely hired the right people and are about treating their guests to a good time.
The heat of the day made it a little less enjoyable. There is very little shade on the course, only a couple benches and some misting fans. They are prime real estate for people waiting to play the next hole. Not much you can do about the heat, it’s Florida, but maybe some more shaded benches, or some air conditioned relief inside. Everything is open air, even the restaurant. There is no place to cool down. During January, that’s awesome. May-November, not so much.
It was very busy, we were there Sunday afternoon so you would expect there to be some people there. I bet Friday nights and Saturdays are even worse, so maybe go during the week or earlier in the day? We were waiting on every hole for the group in front of us to go, it was pretty backed up. Since it is family friendly there are larger groups of people as well. Like a family of 6 with 4 kids, and we are three adults, we are going to wait. Lastly, we are upstairs, where they have a limited menu. Food was ok, not somewhere I would go to just eat. Maybe the downstairs is better, can’t say. Our server was great. Again, the people make you feel welcome which isn’t always the case these days. I would go back if I have people visit from out of town, it would be on the list of things to do for fun, especially if kids...
Read moreWe used to LOVE Popstroke until our most recent visit a couple weeks ago. We loved the food and the service there, and the idea that we could eat, golf, and get appetizers in between. We had many b-day parties there for our kids and recommended Popstroke to out-of-town guests and visitors. However, they've decided to go 100% to an app for ordering and service which is awful. Our last experience was the worst, and sadly, it was a special occasion for our family! We were seated and told to download the app which didn't include all of the items and there was no one there to answer questions. The app is not the most user friendly especially for those one-off items. We started the order, and because no staff was there to interact with us, we were not aware that we had to put in an appetizer order first before our dinner order. Then before we even placed our order, they asked for a tip on the app (and shame on us for assuming that we'd be taken care of and for leaving a tip at that point). The employees brought our dinner out and then our appetizer 3-5 minutes later. It was so impersonal with no interaction from the staff from that point on. Since our bill was paid when we put in the order, we just got up and left, and no one said a word to us. Nothing. Going forward, if we want to golf at Popstroke, we will definitely go elsewhere for food and then go golf, or maybe even choose to do something else completely since, overall, the service no is really nonexistent. What an absolute shame for a place that we enjoyed so much and a place we loved taking our friends and family to. We've already told our family, friends, and neighbors who also loved that place about our experience, and they, too, have decided not to waste their time going there. This was once a gem in the area, but no more. A HUGE disappointment and definitely not worth the money--Popstroke no longer sets itself apart from any other restaurant or fun place to take the family...
Read moreWe went in to first have food and drinks and then play golf. It went downhill immediately due to the arrogance of the man behind the bar. I asked for a menu, he pointed to a plastic bar with a QR code on it and told me that’s the menu. I looked at him and said “I’m looking for a real menu” he said just scan this with your phone to get the menu, I told him I was aware of what the QR code was for but I prefer a full size menu as I don’t feel like looking at a tiny menu with my reading glasses. It was sunny, and phones are hard to see in bright sunlight and my sunglasses are not reading glasses. So at this point I’m hinting around in a very obvious way that I wish they had an actual menu. The arrogant bartender refused to play along so I start asking him several questions about items I had seen on the menu from when I took a peek at it while on my laptop at home days ago. Now mind you, these questions could’ve been answered very easily by HANDING ME A MENU from behind the bar. Which at this point I had no idea an actual menu existed! I found out a few minutes later that they did indeed have a full size menu but by that time things had gone even further downhill. They will take cash, maybe, never got to the bottom of that but they want your phone number in their system before you can even order a drink! Like I need another company texting me!! No thank you. Needless to say, after months of working on getting a few friends together to play golf, we ended up leaving and going to eat at Rocco’s Tacos across the street. And they greeted us at Rocco’s with huge menus we could all read and smiles all around. Moral of this story, stay away from Pop Stoke. They could care less if you are there or not, according to their attitude! Will never go back. And I never support companies who won’t readily let me pay with cash,...
