No fries were served so Sheriff Dave of the Fry Police made way for Chef Dave instead.
This review is for a group party so cost is not going to be discussed other than expect prices high in comparison to chain style steakhouses like Texas Roadhouse, Longhorn or Outback. This is a premier steakhouse.
The group we had was about 50 people. They had approximately 4 to 5 servers interfacing with the group and I'm sure others helping in the background. However, they were also serving another group next to us that was about half our size. We started around 6pm and finished around 10:30pm.
The beginning was all about getting seated and serving drinks. The area was not big enough to mingle and talk to others unless seated. The tables took up most of the room. Drink orders were taken fairly quickly and there wasn't much of a wait in the beginning. However as the night progressed, drinks took longer to get. Most drinks seemed top shelf and were mixed correctly. A few were off slightly and when questioned, one waiter actually argued that it was made correctly (Ginger Ale instead of soda water) instead of just apologizing and getting it right. Bartenders make mistakes and so do waiters, just correct it after it is discovered. The waiter had no idea if it was made correctly, the bartender made it. Also their non alcoholic sodas are not mixed strongly through the fountain, very weak flavors. With an establishment like this and their prices, I would expect them not to cheap out.
The rest of the night the wait staff did well delivering appetizers, salads, main course and dessert. There was a bit of a lag (30 min) between the salad and main course. Also, they were not fast at removing used plates or empty glasses to make room for the next dish or drink.
The food itself was very tasty, excellent quality and served correctly. The steaks all seemed to have come out cooked exactly how everyone had requested. (Great chefs) The steaks also were of the highest quality and not over seasoned. The natural flavors were allowed to be the focal point. The sides were also very good. There is no complaint at all on how everything tasted. Comments like "fabulous" and "spot on" were heard; not sure if I heard a "yummy" but that was possible.
I posted a photo of our menu so you can see what was served.
Overall a nice evening but drawn out very long. Not sure if that was because the wait staff were handling multiple groups or it's just the way it is done there. Hostesses were very nice as were most of the wait staff (other than the...
Read moreRedemption! All appears to be well again at RC in Lake Mary FL!! And it started with a phone call from their Senior Manager at this location, David Tai, following our last less than spectacular visit here. David was sincere, apologetic and appreciative on our call. So, for Valentine's Day we returned at noon to try again. On this visit we were fortunate enough to have Ceasar taking care of us. Ceasar was professional, friendly and knowledgeable and took great care of us. Ceasar even went so far as to point out a steak and 2 lobster tail promotion that would be ending soon. We ordered that special with a lobster bisque soup along with one of Ruth's Classic choices and everything was very good. The service on this visit far exceeded our last visit. On this visit we didn't happen to see David out and about as we did on our last visit or we would have personally thanked him for all he did to get us to come back and give RC's another try. Thank you David and thank you Ceasar
Initial review: Unfortunately, in comparison to the spectacular experience we had at The Capital Grille last week our return visit to Ruth Chris was a complete flop. What really left a bad taste in our mouths was the fact that the Magical Dining menu was never brought to our attention until after we ordered and then only after we inquired about it from our server. We basically ended up spending an extra $18 for a plate of broccoli from what we could ascertain from the Ruth Classic menu item vs The Magical Dining offerings. But mostly remember through Visit Orlando, $1 from each meal served will benefit Feed the Need Florida, which works to help feed people who have struggled with getting access to healthy food during the COVID crisis. The 5 star food and service at The Capital Grille far exceeded our experience today at Ruth Chris. Too bad as Ruth Chris used to be our standard for food and service (remember when the servers had their own business cards?). The times are changing for RuthChris, take a moment to read The Capital Grille review and decide for yourselves on...
Read moreWe came here for Christmas Eve dinner and we were very disappointed. Ruth's Chris used to be our favorite restaurant. We would come here for special occasions. Before, we knew we could have an amazing mouthwatering meal while also receiving 5 star customer service. Sadly, we will not be back after this last experience on Christmas Eve. It used to be only the best were hired for Ruth's Chris. First, we were greeted by hostesses that were maybe 18 years old who have no idea what top notch service means. One of them were dressed inappropriately for this type of establishment with a very low cut top. Secondly, we were seated while a member of our party was in the restroom. The hostess stated she would direct him to the table. Instead, the hostesses watched as he walked back and forth looking for us. He eventually had to call us to find out where we were seated. We were then greeted by our server who was not at all friendly. When she addressed us, she said our name wrong. That alone, isn't a big deal as it happens all the time. When a member of our party told her how it was pronounced she looked confused and just said ok and went on about asking us what we would like to drink. In the past, the servers have always been very personable, however, she was not at all. She also complained that Christmas day was a mandatory work day. When we received our food, someone came over and stated the steak was incorrect and took the plate. They brought the correct steak but no apologies or anything were made. The steaks were also missing the sizzle that used to be heard. The mashed potatoes which were once creamy and delicious, were instead cold, chunky, and no flavor. The chicken was burned and the steak was full of fat and grissel. Also, our booth had a build-up of dust around the top of the seats. This absolutely was not worth the $300 bill for dinner. We're not sure what happened to the Ruth's Chris food experience, but it has gone downhill. So...
