Confused.... Dollar Store Decor Fine Dining. I remember this building as a Long John Silvers.
Yes, long ago... But just how long I have been coming here. Savoy was once a cheap good breakfast place...but these days Proino, Village Inn & Speggtacular are better breakfast options at a better value. Few want to spend $20. For breakfast. Let's try dinner.....
It's Nov 14th... And tonight's dinner music was all Christmas music. Under a dollar tree Christmas ornament ceiling. Noel Noel .... Ya I'm just not ready for this.
The decor is all clearance from Bealls and Family Dollar. Yes the booths have been redone, nice tile floor...but it's still Long John Silvers. Not a fancy smancy place.
Dylan the waiter was the best entertainment ... a fabulous comedy show. He played his role perfectly. Grecian Formula slicked back hair, all black clothes and carrying a dirty terry cloth rag draped over his arm as if this place was white table cloth fine dining.
Maybe he worked at Columbia or Carrettas before... I dunno. It's confusing. Where am I? The Twilight zone?
My waitress was very nice, down to earth and not pretentious. Like my Mom was serving me. Perfect. I just want comfort food. Not be placated to by an overly attentive effeminate male waiter. The Dylan show continues.... what's so funny? Nevermind.
Yes, okay prices have gone up everywhere. I get it. This place however super jacked up their prices. $16.00 for a burger ( chop steak) and a baked Potato. Coffee 4.00 I don't begrudge the owners a profit... But $20. Plus $5. Tip $25.00 for fast comfort food trying to be fine dining?
Next time I want to go eat out I will skip this place and go to JDs on IRB... For less $ I can have fresh Grouper...or a steak.
Not to discredit the cook. Food was as expected ... Good. But all dinners should come with a slice of bread. Especially if your pretending to be fine dining in a former fast food joint. Maybe it's because my mom always had bread with our family dinner... No dinner meal is complete without a slice of bread.
Overall, I give it 4 stars. Overpriced. But I will rate it a 5.
My suggestion: Remove the televisions, hire a linen service for table cloths and napkins. You can't charge fine dining prices and offer a Bounty paper napkin. Require all wait staff to wear polyester slacks, no jeans. Shiney dress shoes, no comfortable tennis shoes. Take down the tacky slogan signs and replace with oil paintings. A crystal chandelier .... Fragrance candles on each table. But please...skip the urge to put dollar tree fake flower...
Read moreA bug in the food crawled up my hand. I looked it up and it was allegedly a Greek flying roach. Definitely not a love bug or an ant. Wings wide enough to cover its entire body. long and slender. about 3/4" in length. Flat body. The server was clearly grossed out, and so was I. She took the napkin with the roach to the back with the plate, and I asked her to bring it back so I could take a photo.
Then the owner came out yelling at me, saying, “This is how you people are.” I’m still wondering what she meant by that. It felt racist.
I paid the full bill. When I asked why they were charging me for a meal that had a bug in it, she repeated, “This is how you people are.” Why did she keep saying that. She claimed she offered a replacement, and that since it was all-you-can-eat and I didn’t want more food, I shouldn’t get a refund then stating "You couldn't eat more, your full and that's why you didn't want more."
Why would I eat anything else there after finding a bug in the food? That’s just common sense. It also seemed like they snatched the dish fast to make sure I couldn’t take a picture and leave a review.
Never demanded a refund. Just wanted clarity on why they sent an unmodified bill after the bug incident. Like literally after I brought the bug to their attention they took the plate and brought out the bill. The bills are all hand written so this should probably be check on by the IRS as it's a high risk of tax evasion.
If a restaurant is doing well, they don’t need to squeeze money out of customers who found insects in their food. Just saying. Regardless I had the money on the check before anything transpired because that wasn't my intention. Clarity is all I wanted. Again this place is a high risk for bugs in food and...
Read moreMy sister and I went here to eat. We sat outside, so we had no idea of the specials . Our waitress came out and greeted us. She went on to tell us about the specials. One was a fish plate which was absolutely awful! The other was a chicken dish, which was good. The waitress told us 14.95 for the specials. I gave my fish back and got the chicken plate. We get our ticket and the plates were 18.95. Plus they charged me a dollar to grill the fish. We went into the restaurant because we were confused on the ticket. The manager came out and was as rude as you could get. She told my sister off and then went in the back and proceeded to tell the other employees, ( I am going to argue with these two.) let me tell you , she told my sister to just deal with it!! We never got all our money back! Also who charges a dollar to grill your fish!?!) so if you are told a special is 14.95 you should pay 14.95, agreed? Nope we paid 18.95 and a dollar to have fish grilled that I did not even eat. I wish I knew the people higher up above this most rudest manager I have ever came across . Stay away from this place! One more thing; the manager kept saying the specials are right there on the bored when you walk in. I kept telling her we never came in the restaurant we entered outside and sat outside. I told the manager maybe put a board outside so this doesn’t happen again. She just shrugged her shoulders and said...
